  1. Thanks, guys! I learned something new today! Had no idea that it was always red on the port side, green(blue) on the other. And when I grew up, I lived for 23 years right next to an airport and never noticed that. Strange...
  2. Guys, question for you all. I’m building a Hurricane Mk. I kit right now, and I need to know what color the wingtip lights were. From various pictures I’ve found online, I’m getting conflicting info. I recently completed a Tamiya Spitfire Mk. I kit and its kit instructions said blue on the port side light, red on the starboard. This kit’s instructions don’t give specific instructions (Airfix 1/48 scale kit); instead they have some color illustrations (for showing decal placement) which give conflicting depictions! Some show green on starboard side, red on port, others vice versa! (Don’t get me started on Airfix “quality control”). So which is it? Anyone seen the real deal up close and can tell me? Thanks in advance.
  3. It was okay, not the easiest. Had a big gap at the wing root I had to fill in with some scrap plastic strip, and the nose landing gear was nearly impossible to fit together right! Other htan that, the only other issue I would note is that the instructions are very vague on the placement of the rear landing gear, so definitely reference some actual photos of the aircraft so that you can place them correctly.
  4. Some pics of a Horten 229 I recently completed; Revell kit in 1:72 scale. https://pin.it/dp52f7pdj5zs3k https://pin.it/mxetygke6jgp4n https://pin.it/eyfp37i3nviqh2
  5. Check out some pics of my diorama that I made for a recent Stalingrad-themed group build over at Model Officer’s Mess (a great modelling Facebook group!); it’s featured there as the cover photo right now. https://pin.it/6bz7ngry66j5jl https://pin.it/f2suzb2prdiguj https://pin.it/b4bndeuommoh2i
  6. Hello! As the name implies, I'm an American, but on this side of the pond (Germany, to be exact). Was a modeler for a long time until 1996, then was away from the hobby for nearly 20 years as real life intruded (houses, jobs, marriage, divorce, etc.), then finally rediscovered the hobby after moving to Germany. Used to be an IPMS-USA member for many years, but there's not such an IPMS presence over here. Luckily I've found such a robust online modelling community! I used to be strictly 1/35 scale armor and dioramas, but I've since branched out to 1/72 aircraft, and now 1/48 aircraft and vehicles. Used to be mostly Tamiya (still my favorite brand), along with some Italeri and Monogram. I've recently tried some Dragon kits, but not terribly impressed with them; also have some Hobby Boss, Trumpeter, Mini Art, and Panda kits, but I'm a little intimidated to try to start them! Never had attempted an Airfix kit (they never used to be all that popular in the U.S.) until last year. The first one I tried wasn't that great, but it was an old kit from the 1970s (74 or 76, IIRC). But I've since bought some new ones and I'm impressed with them; working on their 1/48 Hurricane Mk. I right now, for a Battle of Britain diorama. I'll post some pics of some of my recent work as soon as I get a chance. Cheers!
