  1. Bang this on your "Santa I'd like" list sharpish PC:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Art-Weathering-Martyn-Welch/dp/1874103119 Yes,I know its primarily aimed at railway modellers, but it is an absolute bible for weathering and shows you step by step how to. Here is his site with some of his work:http://martynwelch.com/ Some of them look like you can climb aboard and drive them away. No Al,you're not in the loony minority, you're pretty much right on the money. Absolutely correct Deb,as I've said before, paint what you see,not what you think you see. Can't be doing with these pre-shaded,post shaded, pin washed and lord knows whatever other "techniques"are in fashion "works of art". They're not works of art, they're awful.Totally unrealistic and nothing like any aeroplane that is being used that I've ever come across in real life.
  2. "Zoombag wearers",that's ace, never heard members of the twin winged elite called that before. I also like how the naughty filter has changed the "B" word for "fartherless children"
  3. Why Ed,what's wrong wiv Louisiana(for us yokels that don't live in the U.S)?
  4. Obviously Bill, the gang up front with the big windows didn't want to share what they'd rustled themselves up and kept it behind the door to the drivers' seats.
  5. Couldn't agree more Steve. Deb's and Crispin's too, they'd both clean up on here.
  6. Not surprised about that me old sprocket, heard meself that Sir Emery was a bit of a tinker for robustly entertaining the ladies. And just for Ian,here's a couple of minutes of classic "Ooh you are awful" And talking of small models that'll fly off the sideboard, this is incredible:
  7. She's getting there, good work Wonko. Can't wait to sdee a vid.of her with rotors turning.
  8. Talking of hanging 'em from the ceiling,I've been knocking ceiling hangers together too for my rub-a-dub('tis WW2 themed). In other news, that L.E is awful, can't remember whether it's th'intercooler to port and oil cooler to stb'd or t'other way round. Those cannon ports serpently doin't look as smart as those in the above pitcha(note:someone didn't burnish their masking tape down too well either). Think I'd go with a tube within a tube for those Thedric, outer one faired neatly into the L.E and "cannon barrel" per se fitted into a block and protruding out thru, mmm, mmm.
  9. Oh dear,I can see a big skillet glinting as it's being polished and tested on the South East horizon...............
  10. Bang on Ian,it was the late, great and much missed Dick Emery in one of his many guises.
  11. Known as "Two Stage Amber". The cockpit windows had yellow screens fitted inside, the aircrew wore blue tinted goggles to simulate flying in bright moonlight during the day time,so an early form of synthetic night flying. According to Guy Gibson in Enemy Coast Ahead,617 used it in the run-up to and practice for the Dams raids.
  12. Well, most of the time we think we do......
  13. Ah,now a pie shoppe, quite partial to a pie(just mustn't let Mrs M espy secret pie scoffing in progress though)
  14. Gasp!!! This naughtiness must cease forth or even fifthwith.
  15. Eduard Miggy,Eduard Miggy?????,just who the devil is this wretched fellow attempting to steal one's nom-de-plume????(or is it nom-de-guerre?,anyway) You are a fiend Sir,I shall have you clapped in irons and whipped off to the BM guardroom sharply for this effront.. Er,in other news Cedders, let me have a rummage about, might just turn up summink information shaped on Sea Furries fo'r'eeeeeee.
  16. "Plunge straight into"eh?,ooh I say Tony,I rather like that very much indeed. And contrary to yours and others popular beliefs,I think you are daft enough to attempt it. Damned splendid work thus far with the wings I'd say, they'll even things up so that it doesn't look all "engine bay", and to smugly unfold the wing and lower the flaps, well, need I say more.............
  17. Bet it won't,there's some tales about that wingfold, though knowing El Ced,he'll do it folded anyway.
  18. Ooh yes pheasant.I'll be prowling our local farm shoot ASAP,12 bore in hand,to bag a few for Christmas. We have four driven shoots (one is the oldest in UK)near us and the cock phezzies like to wander about and bring a few ladies with 'em. Quick touch of Lyalvale No.5 Super Game and we've had a brace every year for the past three since I started shooting again.
  19. I've seen a MiG 15 fly,a Mig 21 close and personal and I saw the last ever UK SR-71 display at Mildenhall back in '87. Bovington tank museum is on the cards for next year(as is the FAA museum at Yeovilton)when we holiday in Dorset)
  20. Try working in a wet paint shop Gordon.I frequently arrive home with a distinct whiff of hot thinners and 2K paint, the Mrs is quite used to it now. Hoo,I know all about Ni-Cads,we used to use Delta-peak and temperature sensing chargers when we used 'em for racing 20+ years ago. If you could get 5 mins plus a lap before they dumped you'd done very well. Li-Po's are a revelation compared to the old Ni-Cad's and Ni-Mh's.
  21. Yes indeedy, most thrilling and lotsa gaspinga(and I might venture, the odd wow when the 'scaped I.P was recaptured and fitted). Wing wiggling and waggling and woggling ahoy.
  22. Think I shall sidle in here and nab a pew before all the usual hub-bub show up as I have one of these(Aldi cheapo starter kit variant)to rustle up at sometime in th'future.
