Firstly Tamiya's Fw190F-8. I quite enjoyed building this one. Pretty good detail and fit. Finished in a mixture of Hataka, Xtracrylix and Vallejo paints with the kit decals

Secondly a Dragon Fw190A-8/R-11 nightfighter. Not such a good kit. Some poor fit and over-complicated in places. Finished in RLM 74/75/76 in Hataka, Xtracrylix and Vallejo.1.

A great looking pair👍 Whats the story behind the aircraft with the striped underside?
As far as I know the colours were designed to stop friendly being directed at them.

Continuing the Luftwaffe fighters theme I've been building recently.
Firstly the Revell boxing of the Fw-190D-11 which I believe is the old Dragon kit. Reasonable kit with only a few problems. Finished in Vallejo arcrylics as a JV44 example from 1945.1.

Next is the Dragon Ta-152H. Similar to the Fw190D kit this goes together fairly easily with only the landing gear posing any problems. Again finished in Vallejo paint with Model Alliance decals.

Thanks folks. I'll need to try and work out where I'm going wrong with these.

The 109 build continues.
Firstly the old Revell Bf109G-10. Nice simple kit but goes together quickly and easily. Finished with Xtracrylix RLM 74,75, 76 and with Model Alliance decals from sheet ML489028

Next, a Hasegawa Bf109K-4. Very nice kit. Finished in RLM 76, 75 and 82 and with the it decals.

As a sort of practise for future kits, I've had a go at couple of long-term loft residents.
Firstly a Fujimi Bf109G-6. Quite a nice little kit. I have no idea on its acuracy but it looks OK to me. Finished in Vallejo RLM 74, 75 and 76. I'm not sure that the contrast between the two upper surface colours is strong enough. My attempt at mottling is still a bit heavy handed.

Next is a Hobbycraft Bf109G-14 finished in Vallejo RLM 76, 81 and 82 (or is it 83?). Another decent little kit that goes together quickly and easily. Again my mottling didn't turn out quite as I wanted but like Father Ted's car, the more I messed with it , the worse it got.

It's been a very productive year with a fair few that have been acting as loft insulation for a while now.

Thanks folks. I think the test of kit is, would you make another one? The answer in this case is a definite no.

My last for 2018. It is a pretty poor kit and showing its nearly 50 year age. Fit is poor, the wings are a swine to fit and the cockpit looks wrong. It's finished as W3834 YO-Q, an LF.Vb of 401Sqn RCAF. It's finished in Hataka acrylics. And now to find somewhere to keep it......

I'm not sure to be honest. I don't want to force them as the engineering is a bit complex as it allows the pylons to move as well. Gentle persuasion maybe.

Thanks for the comments folks.

My two latest builds, built simultaneously. This is the newish Revell 1/48 version. Interesting kit, very overengineered in places but very detailed. The 56Sqn aircraft was fitted with the flaps and slats deployed. This means fixing the wings in place. The black one is supposed have the wings (and pylons) moveable but the paint finish has stopped all that. Some aspects weren't so good. The intake fit and taliplane fit wasn't good and some instructions were a bit vague. Some parts were so small I struggled to pick them up, that's if the carpet monster didn't claim them first.
Both using Xtradecal decal sheets.
Firstly ZG757 finished in black in the 43Sqn anniversary markings from 2006.1.

Secondly this one finished as one of the 56sqn display jets in 2005.1.

Thanks folks. I have to say that I have no idea what sort of dirt is left by 20mm cannon. I just made it up......

Another stash lurker that was crying out to be built. I can't really add to what's been said previously about this kit. It all fits beautifully and goes together surprisingly quickly. I added the Eduard Brassin instrument panel and brass cannons. The only issue I had was getting the cowls to fit after assembly. I suspect it's my own fault. Everything fits so precisely that the slightest error is compounded by the time final assembly is reached. Finished in Hakata acrylics in the markings of MH737 FF-Y of 132 Sqn at RAF Detling in 1943 from the Xtradecal sheet X32020.
I would happily build another one if it wasn't quite so expensive.

Thanks for the kind comments folks. It is appreciated. I have the 1/24 Spitfire and Hurricane in the loft. I don't think I have the nerve to tackle them just yet.

Another long-term stash resident, this the Airfix 1/24 scale Fw-190. Finished as an F-2 variant.
Some parts of this kit aren't too bad, the interior, the engine, however the fit of the fuselage and wings is truly awful. It took several attempts to get it to fit and frankly it still doesn't. The cowl parts don't really fit with the engine and exhausts in place. The landing gear looks OK but is a bit wobbly.
The kit is sprayed in Vallejo RLM 74/75/76 scheme. I don't think there is enough contrast between the top surface colours - Xtracrylix are better in this respect. Anyway, here it is is.1.

Decals or painting?
A combination. The red and blue painted. The white is the decal.

Bought cheap at Telford a few year back, this is Tamiya's F-84G in Thunderbirds colours. The major kit parts are coated in chrome which is both good and bad. Good - great natural finish. Bad - the chrome needs scraping off before glue is applied and the decals didn't stick to it. I did spray some panels in silver just to tone down the finish.

Not sure where I'm going wrong with these but they appear to be of little interest. Time to pause for a while I think.
