  1. Thanks for the comments folks, Much appreciated. Some F-14s look really badly weathered but the CAG aircraft were generaly pretty clean.
  2. My latest effort. Not a particularly easy build with one two "challenging" areas. The landing gear bays being one of them. Finished in Vallejo light and dark ghost gray with decals from Mil-Spec depicting the CAG aircraft from VF-11 USS Carl Vinson. zz20200530_130913 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130902 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130921 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130932 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130947 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130956 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  3. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.
  4. Thanks for comments folks. Much appreciated.
  5. I built the Hasegawa boxing of this kit a year or two ago and I had the Revell boxing as well so I had to give it another go. Decent kit and finished pretty much out of the box with Hataka/Vallejo acrylics in RLM 76/75 and 83. Decals from the kit.
  6. I built the very old Revell kit in Don Gentile's Shangri-La P-51B many years ago so I wanted to have another go. This time based on the more modern Trumpeter kit. All in all a very good kit. I left the engine out which meant being a bit innovative with where to attach the exhausts. The model is finished in Hataka Neutral Gray and Olive Drab. The decals come from Kits-World.
  7. Thanks folks. That was actually my third attempt at the colour scheme. The first two were ...er... less than successful.
  8. A kit I bought a few years ago at Telford. Very nice kit, with lots of detail with excellent fit throughout. Finished in Hataka Night Black with the kit decals. z20200327_235849 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235823 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235813 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235802 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235745 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235737 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  9. This is the Revell 1/48 Bf-110G-4 Nice kit overall with good detail. The landing gear was bit fiddly but that was the only bit I struggled with. Finished in Hataka RLM75 over 76. z20200327_235948 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235937 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235930 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235922 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235915 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235907 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  10. Thanks folks. I used Vallejo Aluminium and Vallejo Steel. It was actually a major pain as the airbrush kept clogging , especially the steel colour. The black walkway line were masked and painted as well. It's an odd model to store as it's very wide but not very long.
  11. A fairly quick build of a simple kit. It has pretty decent fit for a kit of its age. The only real issue was getting enough weight in the nose(?) Astonishing to think this aircraft first flew in 1947 and has almost exactly the same wingspan as the B-2. z20200313_215253 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215310 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215333 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215344 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215405 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  12. It's odd, I misted many coats (using about half a bottle!) but found it is still a little tacky even after 48hours. The only bit that peeled was bit of Maskol on the cockpit windows. From a colour point of view, I think it's a bit blue rather than a creamy white.
  13. Thanks for the comments folks. Much appreciated. Rather embarrassingly, the varnish is actually Vallejo gloss varnish. I'm OK getting flat finishes but struggle with gloss.
  14. Yet another long-term stash lurker. This is a pretty decent kit and quite an enjoyable build. The only real problem I had was getting the two fuselage halves to fit. Possible muppetry on my part though. Finished in Vallejo white with the kit decals - sort of. n20200304_084749 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr n20200304_084722 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr n20200304_084659 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  15. Thanks for taking the time to comment folks. It is a lovely kit that is a joy to build.
  16. A fairly recent kit and an excellent one at that. The fit is nothing short of astonishing. The engine cowls are held in place by little magnets and can be altered as in the photos. Finished with the kit decals with Hataka acrylics, RLM74, 75 and 76. z20200222_193829 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193837 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193844 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193850 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_194235 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_194242 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  17. I've been looking forward tobuilding this one and it didn't disappoint. Excellent fit and some clever engineering. The cockpit sits in a white metal section that acts as a nose weight. Finished in Hataka acrylics RLM 75 over RLM 76. I reverse masked the upper surface by painting the dark colour first then placing little blobs of blu-tak then spraying the light colour. z20200222_193656 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193637 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193609 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193551 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  18. I have to say that I have no idea. I thought they might have something to do with the Schräge Musik system.
  19. Thanks for commenting. Much appreciated.

  21. A nice kit overall. The fit between the clear cockpit parts and the rest of the fuselage wasn't great and the decals were poor - due to age I suspect. Finished in a mixture of Xtracrylix and Hataka colours. 20200130_082514 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200130_082459 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200130_082451 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200130_082439 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  22. Another long term stash resident. Part of Dragon's Ju-88 series. Fairly decent kit with some awkward bits and pieces. Decals disintegrated on contact with water which wasn't helpful. Finished with Xtracrylix RLM76 and RLM74. 20200130_082632 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200130_082616 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200130_082607 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200130_082552 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr

  24. Another Cold War jet. This is Kittyhawk's Jaguar T.2, always the nicest looking trainer version of any single seat aircraft. Not the easiest kit to make, in fact it is overengineered in many places, consequently fit can be iffy at times. It's finished as XX836 "AZ" of 14Sqn in the late 1970s. Decals from many sources as the kit decals weren't great. I had/have difficulty in getting the cockpit canopies to stay open. I'll have to work out a remedy later. z20191219_133636 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20191219_133643 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20191219_133649 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20191219_133704 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  25. One I've wanted to build for ages. I got a Hasegawa FGR.2 version at Telford and courtesy of Xtradecal I was able to put together a model of one of the aircraft of my childhood. A few minor alterations were needed to make a FG.1 from the Hasegawa kit, some of which were in the box but some weren't, like the correct tailplanes. Anyway here it is, finished as XV571 "A" of 43 Sqn in the mid 1970s. z20191219_133530 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20191219_133523 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20191219_133513 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20191219_133506 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr With the 111Sqn version I made a couple of years ago z20191219_133547 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
