  1. I thought a family portrait might be called for here. Built over the last few years. 20200703_131504_edit by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  2. Thank folks. A gratuitous photo of the F-4J alongside one I built a year or two ago. 20200703_165116edit by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  3. Thanks for taking the time to comment folks. On with the search for Fonderie Tiger...
  4. Carrying on the Blue Angels theme, this is Hasegawa's F-4J. Not much to be said, pretty decent kit and finished with Vallejo Deep Sky and CAM PRO decals. z20200630_155352 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155344 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155333 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155324 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155320 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  5. This one has been lurking for a long time and I think it's a very old Lindberg kit. It goes together quite well but not much in the way of detail. The decals were surprisingly good but as usual I struggled with the gloss finish. I hope one day someone will produce a decent kit of the Tiger. 6. Thanks for taking the time to comment folks. Much appreciated.
  7. Next up, my attempt at Trumpeter's F-100D. It's a fairly simple kit that didn't take long to put together. The metal finished I struggled with but ended up with Vallejo Steel and Aluminium. The decals fit well but crack and tear easily and it took three sessions to put the decals on. I used the kit's alternative markings to provide some repair patches. Anyway, here it is. zz20200614_192226 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200614_192202 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200614_192152 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200614_192145 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200614_192339 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  8. Thanks for the comments folks - much appreciated.
  9. Another long-term stash lurker and a surprisingly easy kit to make. No cockpit, no decals, all parts painted before assembly and then stick together. Rigged with elastic thread. Such an important aircraft is poorly served by the modelling world. Only this kit and the expensive Hasegawa 1/16 scale kit seem to be around. Surely a modern 1/32 or 1/24 scale kit is long overdue? 20200606_002255 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002251 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002244 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002236 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002220 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002212 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  10. Thanks for the comments folks, Much appreciated. Some F-14s look really badly weathered but the CAG aircraft were generaly pretty clean.
  11. My latest effort. Not a particularly easy build with one two "challenging" areas. The landing gear bays being one of them. Finished in Vallejo light and dark ghost gray with decals from Mil-Spec depicting the CAG aircraft from VF-11 USS Carl Vinson. zz20200530_130913 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130902 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130921 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130932 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130947 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130956 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr

  13. Thanks for comments folks. Much appreciated.
  14. I built the Hasegawa boxing of this kit a year or two ago and I had the Revell boxing as well so I had to give it another go. Decent kit and finished pretty much out of the box with Hataka/Vallejo acrylics in RLM 76/75 and 83. Decals from the kit.
  15. I built the very old Revell kit in Don Gentile's Shangri-La P-51B many years ago so I wanted to have another go. This time based on the more modern Trumpeter kit. All in all a very good kit. I left the engine out which meant being a bit innovative with where to attach the exhausts. The model is finished in Hataka Neutral Gray and Olive Drab. The decals come from Kits-World.
  16. Thanks folks. That was actually my third attempt at the colour scheme. The first two were ...er... less than successful.
  17. A kit I bought a few years ago at Telford. Very nice kit, with lots of detail with excellent fit throughout. Finished in Hataka Night Black with the kit decals. z20200327_235849 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235823 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235813 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235802 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235745 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235737 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  18. This is the Revell 1/48 Bf-110G-4 Nice kit overall with good detail. The landing gear was bit fiddly but that was the only bit I struggled with. Finished in Hataka RLM75 over 76. z20200327_235948 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235937 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235930 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235922 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235915 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200327_235907 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  19. Thanks folks. I used Vallejo Aluminium and Vallejo Steel. It was actually a major pain as the airbrush kept clogging , especially the steel colour. The black walkway line were masked and painted as well. It's an odd model to store as it's very wide but not very long.
  20. A fairly quick build of a simple kit. It has pretty decent fit for a kit of its age. The only real issue was getting enough weight in the nose(?) Astonishing to think this aircraft first flew in 1947 and has almost exactly the same wingspan as the B-2. z20200313_215253 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215310 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215333 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215344 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200313_215405 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  21. It's odd, I misted many coats (using about half a bottle!) but found it is still a little tacky even after 48hours. The only bit that peeled was bit of Maskol on the cockpit windows. From a colour point of view, I think it's a bit blue rather than a creamy white.
  22. Thanks for the comments folks. Much appreciated. Rather embarrassingly, the varnish is actually Vallejo gloss varnish. I'm OK getting flat finishes but struggle with gloss.
  23. Yet another long-term stash lurker. This is a pretty decent kit and quite an enjoyable build. The only real problem I had was getting the two fuselage halves to fit. Possible muppetry on my part though. Finished in Vallejo white with the kit decals - sort of. n20200304_084749 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr n20200304_084722 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr n20200304_084659 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  24. Thanks for taking the time to comment folks. It is a lovely kit that is a joy to build.
  25. A fairly recent kit and an excellent one at that. The fit is nothing short of astonishing. The engine cowls are held in place by little magnets and can be altered as in the photos. Finished with the kit decals with Hataka acrylics, RLM74, 75 and 76. z20200222_193829 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193837 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193844 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_193850 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_194235 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200222_194242 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
