  1. I bought this old kit at Telford last year during a fit of nostalgia. I had built it many years ago as a IIIC and my intention was to build it as a two seater. However I found the fuselage was so badly warped in so many directions I could not get it finished. I ended up taking my very old build and refurbishing using parts from the "newer" kit. Anyway, here it is, finished in Vallejo Aluminium and Faded PRU Blue on the top. Decals from various sources. z20201116_194332 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201116_194342 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201116_194346 by Derek N.Ferg
  2. An attempt at a very old kit. Typical of old Airfix a bit clunky in parts and there is something odd about shape of the nose. Finished in Hataka acrylics with decals from Model Alliance in the markings of XZ451 of 700A NAS. z20201116_194536 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201116_194517 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201116_194508 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201116_194502 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  3. Thanks for commenting folks. Much appreciated. Worth all the bad language that was a major part of the rigging!
  4. This is one that been a loft dweller for a very long time (nearly 50 years possibly). Not the easiest kit I've ever built but there aren't too many parts to deal with. Brushed painted in a mix of Xtracolor, Revell and Humbrol paints. Decals from the spares box as the kit examples were beyond recovery. z20201026_100432 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201026_192430 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201026_192448 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201026_192451 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201026_192513 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  5. The venerable 1/48 scale Airfix Buccaneer kit with all that that entails. The fit is a bit iffy in places but with a bit of work and a lot of filler it turns out OK. Painted with Hataka Red line acrylics in the kit markings of XX900 of 208Sqn. z20201009_195357 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201009_195219 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201009_195159 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201009_195150 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  6. My attempt at the Academy 1/48 Hunter F.6. Nice kit overall, the only awkward thing being the undersized pilot's seat that I replaced with a proper scale one. Finished in Hataka Red line acrylics in the markings of XK149 of 79Sqn at RAF Brawdy in the late 1970s. From Xtradecal sheet 48-189. z20201009_195342 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201009_195322 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201009_195303 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20201009_195254 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  7. Not the easiest kit I've ever stuck together. It's a little over engineered in places. Finished in Vallejo acrylics and with the kit decals which were very good. z20200913_225152 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200913_225141 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200913_225131 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200913_225124 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  8. My latest in a line of aerobatic team builds. This Hasegawa's Skyhawk and finished straight out of the box. Sprayed in Vallejo Deep Sky and also has my first attempt with Pledge floor polish as a gloss coat. It seems to work very well. z20200913_225247 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200913_225222 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200913_225213 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200913_225206 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  9. I thought a family portrait might be called for here. Built over the last few years. 20200703_131504_edit by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  10. Thank folks. A gratuitous photo of the F-4J alongside one I built a year or two ago. 20200703_165116edit by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  11. Thanks for taking the time to comment folks. On with the search for Fonderie Tiger...
  12. Carrying on the Blue Angels theme, this is Hasegawa's F-4J. Not much to be said, pretty decent kit and finished with Vallejo Deep Sky and CAM PRO decals. z20200630_155352 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155344 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155333 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155324 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155320 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  13. This one has been lurking for a long time and I think it's a very old Lindberg kit. It goes together quite well but not much in the way of detail. The decals were surprisingly good but as usual I struggled with the gloss finish. I hope one day someone will produce a decent kit of the Tiger. Interestng aeroplane. z20200630_155447 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155446 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155442 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155437 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20200630_155429 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr

  15. Next up, my attempt at Trumpeter's F-100D. It's a fairly simple kit that didn't take long to put together. The metal finished I struggled with but ended up with Vallejo Steel and Aluminium. The decals fit well but crack and tear easily and it took three sessions to put the decals on. I used the kit's alternative markings to provide some repair patches. Anyway, here it is. zz20200614_192226 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200614_192202 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200614_192152 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200614_192145 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz2
  16. Thanks for the comments folks - much appreciated.
  17. Another long-term stash lurker and a surprisingly easy kit to make. No cockpit, no decals, all parts painted before assembly and then stick together. Rigged with elastic thread. Such an important aircraft is poorly served by the modelling world. Only this kit and the expensive Hasegawa 1/16 scale kit seem to be around. Surely a modern 1/32 or 1/24 scale kit is long overdue? 20200606_002255 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002251 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002244 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_002236 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20200606_0
  18. Thanks for the comments folks, Much appreciated. Some F-14s look really badly weathered but the CAG aircraft were generaly pretty clean.
  19. My latest effort. Not a particularly easy build with one two "challenging" areas. The landing gear bays being one of them. Finished in Vallejo light and dark ghost gray with decals from Mil-Spec depicting the CAG aircraft from VF-11 USS Carl Vinson. zz20200530_130913 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130902 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130921 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130932 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130947 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20200530_130956 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr

  22. I built the Hasegawa boxing of this kit a year or two ago and I had the Revell boxing as well so I had to give it another go. Decent kit and finished pretty much out of the box with Hataka/Vallejo acrylics in RLM 76/75 and 83. Decals from the kit.
  23. I built the very old Revell kit in Don Gentile's Shangri-La P-51B many years ago so I wanted to have another go. This time based on the more modern Trumpeter kit. All in all a very good kit. I left the engine out which meant being a bit innovative with where to attach the exhausts. The model is finished in Hataka Neutral Gray and Olive Drab. The decals come from Kits-World.
