  1. Latest efforts. A couple of Airbuses. First up is the A319. Finished in 26 Decals sheet depicting G-EUPJ in the BEA retro scheme. mm20240409_135854 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr mm20240409_135857 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr mm20240409_135910 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr mm20240409_135915 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr Next is the A320 finished in 26 Decals sheet for TAP Portugal. mm20240409_135931 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr mm20240409_135936 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr mm20240409_135943 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr mm20240409_135945 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  2. My latest airliners. Firstly the Minicraft DC-6 Fairly simple kit and decals were fine as well. Finished as G-APSA of British Eagle. e20240326_145441 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr e20240326_145434 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr e20240326_145428 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr e20240326_145421 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr Secondly is Revell's BAe146-200. Nice little kit but the decals were probably 30 years old and weren't too great. The decals represent N366PS, a BAe146-200 of PSA. e20240326_145402 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr e20240326_145345 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr e20240326_145337 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  3. Firstly the X-scale Trident 1, finished in the BEA markings of G-ARPA. Not a bad kit but some details are a little too small for 1/144 scale, certainly for 60 year old eyes and fingers! The decals were OK but there was an odd gap on the right side of the nose where the stripes didn't meet the windscreen decals. z20240312_125727 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20240312_125720 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20240312_125718 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20240312_125732 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr Next the F-RSIN Trident 3B, finished as G-AWZK of BEA, the aircraft preserved at Manchester airport. A totally different prospect to the X-scale version as it's a bit crude and lack detail but with a bit of sanding and tidying it doesn't look too bad. The decals were good though and I matched the BEA "blue" on the fine with a mixed colour of olive green and turquoise. The red wings I painted rather than use the kit decals. z20240312_125752 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20240312_125801 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20240312_125808 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr z20240312_125825 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  4. The latest effort. The Revell 1/48 B-17F in the markings of the Memphis Belle. Not a bad kit fit-wise but the size makes it quite a challenge. Finished in Hataka acrylics and the kit decals. 20240207_160253 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20240207_160256 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20240207_160309 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20240207_160323 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20240207_160337 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr

  6. My second MiG-21. The Wolf Pack boxing of the Academy MiG-21MF with added bits and decals to make a Romanian Lancer. Nice kit and some good resin and metal additions. Painted in Hataka acrylics. wwDSC_8719 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr wwDSC_8718 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr wwDSC_8717 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr wwDSC_8715 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr wwDSC_8714 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr wwDSC_8713 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr wwDSC_8711 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  7. First to be finished in 2024. Eduard's MiG-21MF. A lovely kit with excellent fit and options. Fitted with Eduard's own pre-painted cockpit and finished as Czech "7701" as it appeared in 1998. The decals are the excellent Syhart sheet which fitted perfectly and went on easily without too much grief. aa20240112_112824 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr aa20240112_094214 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr aa20240112_094136 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr aa20240112_112848 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr aa20240112_112857 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  8. This is the Special Hobby 1/48 Bugatti 100. A twin engine racing aeroplane built in France in 1937 but never flown. It was hidden from the invading Germans and was eventually moved to the USA. It is still in the EAA museum at Oshkosh. A replica was built and flown in 2015 but crashed in 2016 killing the pilot Scotty Wilson. The aircraft had two 450hp engines in the fuselage each driving a shaft down each side of the cockpit to a gearbox in the nose. It was said to be capable of speeds over 500mph but we'll never know. The kit itself is pretty good with just a few issues over fit but nothing too tricky. A quick shout-out to the excellent service by Special Hobby in sending a replacement part missing from the box. It arrived in less that a week. The model is finished in Humbrol French Blue. aa20231224_143655 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr aa20231224_143817 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr aa20231224_143828 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr aa20231224_143839 (1) by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  9. An old and simple kit but OK to build. Very cheap too. Finished in Signal Red with lots of copper cooling all over the airframe. Not my best build - should have painted the metallic bits first... Nice looking aeroplane though. zz20231214_105722 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231214_105725 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231214_105731 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231214_105735 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231214_105749 (1) by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  10. Thanks folks. I have a sudden urge to build a nice, simple and fits properly...
  11. My first model in a few months and one that has been in the stash for a while. As has been written elsewhere the kit is fairly poor with almost every part needing a great deal of fettling and bad language to get anything like a decent fit. A lot of sanding later I managed to get it painted in Hataka Signal Red over a yellow undercoat. Fortunately the decals are excellent and went on easily and without (much) incident. Anyway, here it is. zz20231212_094108 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231212_094103 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231212_094053 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231212_094046 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231212_094044 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20231212_094038 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  12. Thanks for taking the time to comment folks. Much appreciated.
  13. I built one of these a few years ago but I thought it was time to have another go. It's a very nice kit and the extensive decals go on easily and fit well. Sprayed overall in Mr Color Phthalo Cyanine Blue. zz20230517_085934 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230517_085950 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230517_090003 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230517_090044 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230517_090056 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  14. The Air-Graphics conversion set marked a Shadow R.2 isn't an R.2. It's an R.1+. The R.2 will look different to the R.1 and R.1+ and hasn't flown yet.
  15. Thanks folks for taking the time to comment. Family portrait in the making of the eight Blue Angels so far. I need a Grumman Panther and I'm going to do a two-seat Hornet as well. I've given up on the F11F Tiger for now.
  16. My latest in an attempt to model the Blue Angels in 1/48 scale. This is the Meng rendition of the Super Hornet. It is an excellent kit with superb fit and some great detail. Finished in Vallejo Deep Sky and with Milspec decals. I must get a family photo of all the models so far. 20230504_085903 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20230504_085819 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20230504_085822 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20230504_085955 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20230504_085842 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20230504_085853 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr 20230504_085830 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr

  18. Another Spitfire. This Revell's recentish Spitfire IX. Not a bad kit but is obviously a modification of their Mk.I kit. With lots of bits missing and incorrect features. Finished in standard western desert camouflage of Dark Earth, Mid stone and Azure Blue. The markings of the Polish Fighting Team from the spares box. zz20230414_153429 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230414_153437 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230414_153444 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230414_153450 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230414_153501 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr

  20. This is the new(ish) P-51D from Revell. A lovely kit with great detail and fit. As usual I veered away from the kit options and used the 15th AF USAAF decal sheet from Eduard. The model is finished in the markings of P-51D-5 44-13264 of Major Robert C. Curtis of the 2nd FS, 52nd FG, 15th AF in Italy, August 1944. Painted in Vallejo steel and variations thereof. I need to work on my weathering techniques a bit I think. As always the photos show up all the flaws... zz20230402_203531 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230402_203539 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230402_203556 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230402_203604 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr zz20230402_203632 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
  21. A couple of newish Airfix 1/48 Spitfires. 22. Thanks for taking the time to comment Pete. Much appreciated.
  23. My latest effort, this is Special Hobby 1/32 IAR81, a dive-bombing variant of the Romanian IAR 80. It might be a limited run kit but it goes together quite well with one or two troublesome areas. The engine fitting and one or two vague instructions are all that caused bother. qq20230223_112712 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr qq20230223_112704 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr qq20230223_112702 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr qq20230223_112655 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr qq20230223_112649 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr qq20230223_112642 by Derek N.Ferguson, on Flickr
