  1. Bravo, congratulations! I enjoyed watching your progress and to see it completed is a real treat! Cheers Brad
  2. Hey Guys, I am just repeating what's in the Airfix instructions, and they call it "Retarded" 1000 pound bomb. Thanks to those who replied about the coating, or lack there of. Cheers.
  3. Hi Guys, Were bodies of these bombs on the Navy Buccaneers coated or were they smooth? TIA Brad
  4. Ok, I am about to paint my Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer, which will feature 809 NAS markings and I am really confused about the EDSG shade/hue. I have searched and read a lot of previous discussions and still can't make up my mind if this colour is a grey or blue or PB (Purple Blue) When were these Buccaneers painted EDSG, and given the climate and sea environments that these aircraft flew in, would they fade into a neutral grey/gray or remain robust in the original colour? I have two books that show colour pics of these aircraft, and they sure look blue-ish to me, during the period between 1971-1972. Thanks for any advice in advance. Brad
  5. Another question, what colour was the arrestor hook for the FAA/RN Buccaneers? TIA Brad
  6. Did the S.2C/D Buccaneer not have a landing light on the nose gear? The SAM Publication book for the Buccaneer shows pics with it on the walk-around Buc photos. I am building the Airfix kit, and I am not seeing one in the instructions to add one. TIA Brad
  7. Thanks, but I have the book and read it and have been re-reading it to see if I missed specifics. Thanks for showing me the pic of the buddy tank. Nice! Cheers, Brad
  8. Oops...it sure does. Thanks for waking me up. That second coat sure makes a difference. Looks great! Cheers, Brad
  9. Nice WIP so far. I am a bit disappointed in myself, as I have already assembled my upper and lower fuselage together on my kit, but I did not notice anywhere in the instructions regarding drilling any holes on the undersides of the inner wings to hang ordnance. Did the instruction booklet have any steps for this? I noticed that you have holes drilled out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Brad
  10. Hi, I was wondering if anyone here knows which two Buccaneers that flew Buddy Tanker duties off the Ark Royal in 1972 during the mission to over fly British Honduras were? I have the serial numbers for the mission strike aircraft, but I am trying to find the tanker aircraft serial numbers. Also, does any AM company make the Buddy Tank in 1/48 scale for the Buccaneer? TIA Brad
  11. Hi Guys, I was wondering if viewing the pilot seat and the navigator seat from the front, should the alignment be slightly staggered or should the seats be inline with each other? If slightly staggered, why? TIA Brad
  12. Because the serials and nose numbers aren't common, as in no one makes generic sets of the them to cobble together what's required unfortunately. Nice idea though. Thanks Brad
  13. According to the book Phoenix Squadron, photos show that the two strike aircraft only had drop tanks, one per wing. Airfix did include one of the strike aircraft in their 1/72 scale boxing. HTH Brad
  14. 809 Squadron with those specific serials, but the box contents doesn't have enough serials to cobble together either of the two I would like to do.
  15. Was wondering why Xtradecals or someone else hasn't given us decals for this special mission of the Bucs? I have the Airfix kit up next and wish to build XN977 or XV154. Cheers, Brad
  16. Your work has been incredible, and I have enjoyed watching this build. I commissioned the Regina and was part of the crew for nearly 3 years. If I can mention one thing about the prop blades; they would look even better if the pointy area of the blade was rounded a bit, as the real deal was never that pointy. Cheers Brad RCN 35 years
  17. Does anyone know what active dipping sonar the HAS.1 had? Was it from the US, or the UK? I am looking for info about the display consoles and the dipping sonar transmitter. I think the dipping sonar might have been Plessey 195, which would make it from Thales correct? TIA Brad
  18. Guys, I was wondering if this kit could be built as one of the 1st batch of late Mk Ia aircraft in the R6XXX serial range without too much trouble? TIA Brad
  19. Gents, With the new Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer out, does anyone make or are there plans to make decals for the famous Flight over British Honduras in 1972? I have checked other decal makers and there is one sheet by Three Guys Replica who did a sheet with one of the aircraft of the two strike group planes, but it's way OOP and might not be accurate anyway. Thoughts? Thanks Brad
  20. Would I be safe in using MB Mk 2 seats for my 1/48 Airfix Hawker Hunter? TIA
  21. Hi, Any way or restoring the model photos? TIA Brad
