  1. Hi. I tried out the streaking grime method using enamel paint I had at home. The Ammo Mig products are really cool but incredibly expensive down here. As they are basically made with diluted enamels I decided to try streaking with ordinary paints. I guess you can use Humbrol paints the same way. (The No Man's Land base isn't ready yet and the tank is only there for testing.) I want to add some darker streaks, a dark wash and dusty pigments.
  2. Wow! Great weathering! Very convincing. I love the mud with plants and stuff in it.
  3. Decals on! I just need to seal them with more gloss varnish.
  4. It´s going nicely! Good work! PS.: There is a molding line/seam running along the top of the stone wall that looks out of place.
  5. This is what I´d really like in 72 or 48 scale: EMBRAER KC-390.
  6. This is the current state of the work: Everything sealed up in gloss coat (the same car paint type). I´ll get the decals on and start weathering. I painted the red/white bands because I didn´t think the decals would go well over the big rivets. I´ll add some scratches to the red bands too.
  7. On the bottom part of the tank I tried heavy chipping just for curiosity. I really liked the way the brown an black paint showed up.
  8. I wanted some light chipping on the tank. I moistened the surface and used a hard brush for some areas and a needle and 250-grit sand paper for the scratches. Hard brush here: Needle round the latch: Sand paper for these scratches:
  9. I used the hairspray chipping method. First I added some spots of rust colour (Gunze Cocoa). Sealed this up with car-paint varnish (very resistant and dries quickly). Then I painted the kit with a three-colour modulation (that´s new stuff for me). Khaki was the overall colour; H-52 Olive Drab for the lower shady areas; and H-79 for sunlit top areas. I showed the painting to wife explaining about how sunlight alters the colours and so on.... and she asked me: "What if it's at night?" ... I told her to bugger off.
  10. Hi everyone! I´m building the EMHAR Whippet kit. I´ve completed the build and basic paintwork and I'm going to start on the weathering now. I haven´t built a tank since 2012 or so and now I see there are dozens of new weathering techniques. I know there are all these fancy new products around but, for now, I'll use stuff from my stash applying the techniques shown on MIG and AK videos. The kit is very basic... but so was the real thing. It builds up very nicely. This is the only spot I needed putty: Everything primed with Gunze Black Primer:
  11. I´m a bit late here... WD-40 works great on transparent parts. Spray some on a cotton bud and wipe away the grime. WD-40 also works to remove the tack that gets left over after masking canopies.
  12. Hi. Finished this one. The build is here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235037992-avia-bk534-172-eduard/&page=3 Hope you like it!
  13. Finished! Painted all the rigging lines and added little bits and pieces. I´ll post the rest of the pictures on the Ready for Inspection section. Thank you all!!
  14. I touched up the paintwork on the top wing and gave it a gloss finish. Let it dry and applied the last decals.
  15. Beautiful. Loved the painting. Also really liked the dirt on the wheel covers.
  16. Thanks! It´s quite easy to rig this way. The only bad part of this method is that you have to fix the holes on the top wing. For larger scales I would use turnbuckles but, for this scale, I think it´s the best way.
  17. Some more pictures: I stretched the lines, glued them with a drop of CA glue and cut the excess. Now I need to touch up the top wing and repaint the spots where the lines went through.
  18. Checker all the strut fits: And started rigging with 0.15 fishing line. Hairy thing: Top wing on. And the cables pulled through: Meanwhile..... At least I gave the wife some beer while I was doing this...:
  19. Wash with W&N oils Flat varnish over everything:
  20. Yes. And also like the painting schemes of WWI British tanks. Thank you!
