I think the same notes also mentioned that in extreme circumstances the big AP bombs could be moved on torpedo trollies,
Like this?

Also, I think these bombs could have been painted Dark Green.

What happens if I don't use that?
Nothing will happen.
If you are hand-brushing, it will help in avoiding brush streaks.
If air-brushing, it will give you some time for masking removal.
It's not necessary to use it.

Now that's a good lookin' tank!
Where in the great, large country are you? Yesterday, it was 8 degrees, light rain with just a bit of snow.

At the height of the 2019-20 bush fires, a lyrebird in the Blue Mountains (west of Sydney) was filmed mimicking a fire engine siren. There's a clip on YouTube somewhere, but I haven't found it thus far - will post here if ever I do. Absolutely indistinguishable from the real thing!
This?

Looking good! Too bad you lowered both ailerons. It should be one up, one down.

Get a bottle of acetone-based nail polish remover. That stuff undoes super glue, for those time when you accidently glue your fingers together or glue something to somewhere you don't want it.

Some Caproni 310 have similar fairings

Some other does not have it

According to Wikipedia, the Caproni was powered by by Piaggio Stella P.VII, which was based on a Gnome et Rhône 7K, design, that was based on the Bristol Titan 7-cylinder engine.

The first 50 Lancaster B.VII received the usual FN50 upper turret as B.VII (Interim). The remaining 180 received the Martin turret with 0.5" guns.
But the Martin 250 turret was also fitted to late production Canadian built Lancaster B.X. The last 275 were fitted with the Martin turret according to the Bomber Command Museum of Canada. Everything from KB855 onwards.

Like this shot of VR-A, taken at CFB Greenwood, in the early 90's.

But why only on the Pegasus-powered Wellington? And why not on all of those Wellingtons?
The Bristol Pegasus was a larger version of the Mercury, to deliver more power. Why didn't Mercurys have that fairing?

The PZL 37 did not have that holed fairing/plate fitted over the central gear casing, nor did any other Bristol Pegasus powered aircraft I have ever seen. If you have photos of such fittings, I'd like to see them.

Just a reminder: While Airfix would have you paint the upper fuselage section that is under the canopy #33 Black, in reality, it should be painted Dark Green, the same as the upper camouflage colour.

Could this be concrete over PSP?

It could be tire tracks from a service truck.
