  1. It's just begining of the year - something more spectacular may be announced at Shizouka. And IRCC I believe that was the case with both 1/48 F-4 and F-35.
  2. What's the deal with two canopies? They seem to be exactly the same, at least on the picture above.
  3. I hope it's not forbidden but in case it is - mods, please, just delete this post. For everyone being so absolutely sure, that Tamiya made RAM coating is too thick and generaly bad, please read this FB entry. The author is great, very skilled modeler, and I believe he is 100 or even 101% percent right in his judgement. In short - we, modelers, work on overscaled detail on regular basis, because in fact this is the nature of scale models, plus RAM on real F-35 is not so thin, as many people think. https://www.facebook.com/scalescriber/posts/pfbid02qURNJ7zk8PzRM2KWiGo5X1AoECNC53s1riv14USQP2xXMdRppwdTwkhujKWEJcLGl
  4. Raised RAM panels on a kit is are not a problem themselves. Half of the problem is people tend to use wash over everything, usually the black one. It will never work in case of this type of external detail...
  5. I don't think so. It's a widspread misconception, that F-2 is just "modified" or "enlarged" F-16. According to some sources there's barely about 5% of commonality between two types.
  6. MENG is basicaly sort of Hase copy, with heavier panel lines and rivets, which is not definitely an improvement. It has better cockpit canopy and landing gear bays detailing... Although I'm not sure if all of this justify significantly higher price tag. So let's say opinions about it's superiority over Hasegawa kit differ ;). Nice build anyway :).
  7. Well... Not sure, really. It may be not as much pronounced as it is in AFV kit, but definitely there's some outer layer, and it's definitely too thick to be just a layer of paint.
  8. Hey Guys :). Thanks You for a kind words - I really appreciate Your reception. @The Chief Smeg - as for my job, yeah - it's OK. Although I'm not sure if should be jealous ;).
  9. Thanks Pete :). As for architectural modeling... Well. It's rather weird branch of scale modeling. It's a job. I'm limited by deadlines. This forces some modeling shortcuts. Most of minor mistakes are not corrected, only hidden ;), because usually there's not time for correction. Rebuilding is an option only when hiding is impossible to do, while - obviously - model has to be aesthetically pleasing at the first glance. And since these are mostly things considerably bigger than typical scale models of an aircraft, tank, etc. in fact it's hard to spot an error of 0,25 or 0,5 mm misplacement on 1 meter long section . I see it, I know it as a builder, but viewer has really small chances to figure out that something is not perfectly right. But since You asked - http://sma-studio.pl/?lang=en Cheers, Konrad
  10. Hello :). I'm a new user here. Honestly, I signed up to have an access to full, valuable modeling content mostly. Not much of a Brit, a bit more of a modeler ;). But - since I'm here already, this is a sample of my latest finished kit - Bandai's T-65 X-wing. Not really "new" one, because the kit has been finished in 2016. I'm not much of the regular model kit builder, due to my proffesion, which is architectural modeling. Believe me, after a month or two of work on some residential, public or industrial architecture big models it's often hard to find a motivation to build hobby scale models ;). Anyway, I used to call it T-65E-3. Let's say it's a late, New Republic model, servicing before T-70 is issued ;). What I did here: - rescribed 95% of all panel lines. Bandai's SW kits are great. The only issue is they have terrible, canyon-wide panel lines. I intend to rebuild them in any single build. - added "avionics" bays. Their covers are removable, and hold in place using tiny neodyme magnets - I added a ton of (invisible ) detail in cockpit, basing on pictures of ESB and ROTJ cockpit pictures - some external details has been added or suplemented - One of kit's two optional nose cones has been modified - the base and the acrylic stand are obviosly custom made, along with avionics panels bases Cheers, Konrad
