  1. You can enter as many models as you like as long as they're within the rules.
  2. Excellent Mental. Did you do anything with the weheel bay? And how do I get the Wurger Mechanic parts for mine?
  3. I like that. Engine and mottling look good.
  4. I'd say that was less than 25% completed. What markings are you planning?
  5. Nice looking model. and an interesting colour scheme. Makes a nice change to see a Zero not heavily weathered.
  6. Quick update. No pics cos I haven't done much! Removed cockpit parts from the sprues Sprayed the resin parts with Mr Resin Primer Super glued the Ultracast wheel bay into position Glued the nose parts to the fuselage halves Had a bit of a disaster when I knocked over a brand new bottle of Tamiya Extra Thin and covered one of the nose parts. Luckily I have a spare kit but it means I can't build that one now Also I broke off the tip of one of my tiny, expensive drill bits. Hopefully I've got the bad luck out of the way and it's not jinxed from the start.
  7. Lovely. Been looking for this kit everywhere and can't find one.
  8. Love the cockpit. I assume you've painted the inside of the dials white and then put gloss varnish in them? Is the harness photoetch?
  9. I've made a banner for myself. Please feel free to use it. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/484636...20704fa66_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/484575...8e8f92059_o.jpg
  10. Nice. I love your diorama and I especially like the rusted effect you got on your exhaust tips. What was your technique?
  11. Well folks, dawn is coming. There's only one week to go before the end of the group build. By my count there's still around 15 entries started but not finished. So c'mon peeps lets see as many of those completed as we can. I'm not going to lock any threads after the GB finishes so if you can't finish within the time frame please continue to post your build. It won't be eligible for the poll however.
  12. Nice work on the paint. I'm off to Hobbycraft for some Copydex!
  13. Thanks for the kind comments everyone. DCRanger, the collector rings on the Beau are Alclad Burnt Iron over Alclad Aluminium.
  14. Thanks for the info selwyn. It's weird, I never assume a kit manufacturer has got the colours of an aircraft I'm building correct and I always research the particular aircraft I'm building, but the thought never crossed my mind to check the Tilly colours. Doh!
  15. I think you're supposed to brush the Tamiya decal solution on the model where you want the decal to go and then place the decal on top.
  16. Here's my entry into the Group Build. Hurricane Mk1 DT-A (V6555), 257 Squadron RAF North Weald October 1940, Flown by S/LDR Robert Stanford Tuck. The kit is Hasegawa's 1/48 Hurricane Mk1. I have 4 differnt boxings of this kit but I'm using the South African boxing because it has all the parts of a BoB Hurricane and includes the De Havilland Prop and Spinner as found on this aircraft. Extras are Ultracast Wheels, Exhausts, Seat, Armour and Wheel Well. Eduard Zoom Photoetch and Paint mask. I'll be addding brake lines out of lead wire and possibly changing the landing light for a "Little Lens". For decals I'll be using Hobby Decal dry transfers for the stenciling and Aeromasters Early Hurricane Aces Part 3. Paints will be mostly Tamiya. With Mr Hobby for the Dark Earth. Any brush painting will be done with Vallejo Model Air or Citadel metallics. I'm nervous about flat-coats after a disaster on my Beaufighter so I'll be experimenting with a few on a test kit before commiting one to the Hurricane. Weathering will be with Mig washes, oils and pigments. Hurricane Mk Ia, DT-A (V6555) was the first Hurricane assigned to Squadron Leader Robert Stanford Tuck when he was posted to command 257 Burma Squadron on September 11th, during the height of the Battle of Britain. It had a small caricature of Churchill on the port side below the cockpit and was the first to display victory markings. On the 15th he shot down a Bf110 and a probable Bf109. On September 23rd he claimed a Bf109, October 4th a Ju88, October 12th a Bf109, October 25th a Bf109 and two more damaged. His last two victories of the Battle were on October 28th where he claimed two “probable” damaged Bf109’s. F/L Robert Stanford Tuck flew with No 92 Spitfire Squadron before taking command of 257 Squadron. In the book 'Flying the World's Great Aircraft', Robert Stanford Tuck descibes his first encounter with the Hurricane. "Strangely enough, I had never been very close to a Hurricane before, let alone sat in the cockpit. Hurricane P4190 sat there on it's wide, sturdy undercarriage, with it's slightly down-sloping nose and humpbacked fuselage giving it a slightly hunched, crouching appearance. I was not very impressed, as it looked like a great sturdy carthorse compared with my Spit, which was like a racing thoroughbred." "After this first day's combat with my new Squadron in the Hurricane serialled V6555, code letters DT-A, my first impressions of this magnificent aircraft were completely wiped out, as I realised the sterling qualities of it's handling. It had not a vice in it's whole make-up. It's wonderful visibility over the nose, considering the great Rolls-Royce Merlin engine in front, and it's remarkable steadiness and solidness when the eight machine guns crashed into life made it an absolute delight to fly, but I would have liked more speed. I felt sure that if under heavy attack, it was capable of taking tremendous punishment and this later proved to be the case." 257 Squadron was re-formed on 17 May 1940 at RAF Hendon as a Fighter Squadron, equipped with Spitfires. The squadron became operational at RAF Northolt, where the squadron flew Hurricanes in the Battle of Britain, during which it was part of No. 11 Group RAF. The squadron was based in South-East England throughout the Battle of Britain. I've never built a Hurricane before so I'm looking forward to this. - Jason
  17. I'm no expert but I think the spinners on the Spitfire are a larger diameter than the Hurricane.
