Not to hijack the thread but have you seen the book "Mother Worked at Avro"? by Gerald Myers.. Well worth a look if you are interested in the Yeadon site. I bet they weren't hoarding toilet paper... Sadly it is hugely expense on Amazon. If you pm me his name I'll see if there is any reference to him

Silver Fox replied to tonyot's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Blimey Tony, it's not a time to be cutting back!!!!!! -
Great work on the seams, I'm very impressed with the liquid sprue method. I used it for years but completely stopped about ten years ago. Now I will have re assess.

Just caught up with this, great work, I have one in the stash so you are on point duty. The photos from @Charlienz are a great help.

Midway Defender - Marine Buffalo ***Finished***
Silver Fox replied to Andwil's topic in In The Navy GB
Good look, but I'm sure you will be fine. -
Lovely work, to my eyes the two seater looks sleeker than the single seater.

I hope you don,t think I'm trying to hijack your thread, but I hope this gives you an idea of what I did and how much filler I used. I still have to fit the lower wings and inserts so it might all go horribly wrong.

Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf 110C
Silver Fox replied to Roger Newsome's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
The exhausts look fabulous. Well done. -
I've tried attaching the leading edge individually and whilst they need some light filling they are not too bad so far. Shame Airfix didn't mould a whole new wing but I guess cost came into it. Lovely sun rise as well.

One year I had to do Christmas cover,I was stuck in the office on my own and I was bored out of my head as nothing was happening, so on the second day I brought a box of wargames figures and paints in. I painted about 40 of them over the remaining two days: - result.

Looking forward to seeing this completed. I wargamed the Battle about 25 years ago with Peter Gilder. Great fun.

What model aircraft magazine should I get
Silver Fox replied to AltcarBoB's topic in Magazines & Books
My SIG is old fashioned, we communicate through e-mails and and I produce a electronically distributed newsletter. We also meet at model shows, As I say I don't use Facebook. -
Looking good, I think @stever219 is correct, it is better to finish the whole wheel bay. I'm almost at the same sta, but have attached the new wing leading edges to the wings already. They are not a good fit, maybe that's down the builder, but I'm going to check back and see how you did. Enjoy working from home, I found I got a lot more done and didn't have to worry about getting smartly dressed. Save nearly 2 hours commuting. .I did it for convenience, so awful to have to do it in the current circumstances. My condolences for the loss of your father.

What model aircraft magazine should I get
Silver Fox replied to AltcarBoB's topic in Magazines & Books
I've been a member of IPMS for 34 years and have never used Facebook. The magazine is a good general magazine and there are lots of local groups and SIGs to join. I wouldn't be without it -

F-102 Revell-Monogram 1/48
Silver Fox replied to Warbird78's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Having built three of them I know the amount of work you have put in to getting such a stunning model. -
My second major unit of my new force, the 2nd Battalion , 1st Kleve-Berg infantry. For a change I used the newish Citadel Contrast paints for the main uniforms. Tye chaps on the left were painted in the said paint over a white undercoat, the chaps on the left use my usual technique of Vallejo white over a black undercoat. The faces and hands a of the left hand base are also contrast paint. Not convinced but I'm going to stick with the Contrast paint and have bought dark Blue and Dark Green for further units. Thanks for looking.

I don't know, it has never happened to me. Great work, I am very tempted by the conversion but holding out for the T8M.

Will Mr Trump let them back into the US?
-
Cheers, I spotted the angle but as the wings are not fixed I can alter them. Nice work on your Panther.

A fun build for a change, no issues with the fit very little filler needed and no self induced screw ups. I don't normally build planes with the wings folded but it takes the eye away from the too flat canopy. I used a Print Scale sheet for a MiG killer flown by Ensign Frederick Weber of VF-31 in 1`950. These conformed really well without much in the way of solvent. Thanks for looking.

Classic Airframes DH Vampire T.22
Silver Fox replied to Rich F's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Brings all the pain back for me. I had all the same issues but you have done a great job. I remember trying to fit the belly plate and watching it drop into the rest of the fuselage. In the end I used a series of plastic strips to hold ot on place and sanded down the outer edges to get a reasonable fit. I later built an Alley Cat FB5 and it was a complete joy. I hoped they would do the two seaters as well but no joy there.
