  1. I finished this shelf sitter today. It was started at the  Saturday modelling club in a local library which is sadly but understandably cancelled for the foreseeable future. It comes with masses if interior detail, most of which  I decided to ignore as the fit of the upper and lower hull halves was poor.

I have built the Tamiya T-34 which is some much simpler to put together, but I do like the later  but pre-T34/85 turret

  2. There is an Airfield trail  in Lincolnshire, I have a leaflet I picked up at a tourist informations centre, though I haven't got it to hand. However Scampton, Waddington, Woodhall Spa, and Coningsby are within an hours drive of each other. Woodhall Spa as a lovely peaceful spot to visit and has a memorial to 617 Squadron and has the Petwood hotel and the Blue Bell pub(?, not sure that's right but it on the road between Woodhall Spa and Coningsby) which still have the aircrew names as graffiti.  On the samer road there is a camp with a Lightning F1 on display. Methingham  has a control tower museum, though I've never been on a day it is open and East Kirkby is within easy distance as well. Waddington and Coningsby are both active airfields as you know and there are good viewing facilities at both.

I'm sure I've got some of the details wrong but locals will jump in and correct me.

  3. This is the 'late' boxing of the Great Wall Hobbys kit. One of my branch members and I had had a lockdown build of the T-33 he used the Academy kit with loads of resin  and I used the GWH kit with  just some metal seat belts. We did it via WhatsApp and took a fair number of photos. Both are now finished but I haven't his permission to show you his lovely Navy trainer.

The cockpit is a little too wide at the front and unless shaved down it can distort the nose leading to fit issues with the nose cap. I also had problems with the fit of the wing to fuselage which i haven't had before ( have already built two of them)

I used the kit decals which were great to work with and allowed me to make an aircraft of the 49th FIS, USAF to go with my Monogram F-106 of the same unit. One day I'll be able to display them at a show I hope.

  4. I have built three of these kits and on the first two the wings fitted perfectly, on the current build I had the same issues. I thought I'd managed to install the intake tunnels upside down but now I'm not so sure.

The nose issue, from my experience, is compounded by the cockpit tub being slightly wider than necessary, which leads to distortion in the forward fuselage. One the second and third builds I have thinned it down and haven't experienced the nose issues. that I did on the first.

As always all my issues are usually my rubbish modelling.

Still looking good Rob, it will be a cracker.
