I finished this shelf sitter today. It was started at the Saturday modelling club in a local library which is sadly but understandably cancelled for the foreseeable future. It comes with masses if interior detail, most of which I decided to ignore as the fit of the upper and lower hull halves was poor. 20200512_143224[1] 20200512_143248[1] I have built the Tamiya T-34 which is some much simpler to put together, but I do like the later but pre-T34/85 turret 20200513_193525[1] 20200513_193509[1] Thank you for looking

Lockdown continues and I seem to be getting a lot more painting done than I planned. Luckily Perrys re-opened their mail order site so I have had reinforcements arrive,. 20200511_164302[1] 20200511_164321[1] The 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, with Foot Artillery support and a proud Brigadier though what the messenger is point at must worry him. 20200511_164339[1] Thanks for looking

T-33 T-bird GWH 1/48 Dayglo scheme
Silver Fox replied to Rob K.'s topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I used the GWH decals on my recent build and found them first class. I did use very hot water to release them from the backing sheet and a hot cloth to help them conform but no other help was needed. Maybe I was lucky or you were unlucky. Lovely work on the kit so far.- 95 replies

There is an Airfield trail in Lincolnshire, I have a leaflet I picked up at a tourist informations centre, though I haven't got it to hand. However Scampton, Waddington, Woodhall Spa, and Coningsby are within an hours drive of each other. Woodhall Spa as a lovely peaceful spot to visit and has a memorial to 617 Squadron and has the Petwood hotel and the Blue Bell pub(?, not sure that's right but it on the road between Woodhall Spa and Coningsby) which still have the aircrew names as graffiti. On the samer road there is a camp with a Lightning F1 on display. Methingham has a control tower museum, though I've never been on a day it is open and East Kirkby is within easy distance as well. Waddington and Coningsby are both active airfields as you know and there are good viewing facilities at both. I'm sure I've got some of the details wrong but locals will jump in and correct me.

1/48 Airfix Defiant- 264 Squadron RAF March 1940

Lovely work I hope we can see it on the table as soon as it is safe. -
I'm catching up after a spurt of modelling this week after a lot of lockdown DIY. These are some miniatures by The Assault Group I picked up at the Hammerhead show. Really nice figures to work with and I even painted the eyes in as the detail was so well moulded. 20200502_112558[1] Thanks for looking

This is the 'late' boxing of the Great Wall Hobbys kit. One of my branch members and I had had a lockdown build of the T-33 he used the Academy kit with loads of resin and I used the GWH kit with just some metal seat belts. We did it via WhatsApp and took a fair number of photos. Both are now finished but I haven't his permission to show you his lovely Navy trainer. 20200507_194313[1] The cockpit is a little too wide at the front and unless shaved down it can distort the nose leading to fit issues with the nose cap. I also had problems with the fit of the wing to fuselage which i haven't had before ( have already built two of them) 20200507_194346[1] I used the kit decals which were great to work with and allowed me to make an aircraft of the 49th FIS, USAF to go with my Monogram F-106 of the same unit. One day I'll be able to display them at a show I hope. 20200507_194334[1] 20200507_194323[1] Thanks for looking

T-33 T-bird GWH 1/48 Dayglo scheme
Silver Fox replied to Rob K.'s topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I have built three of these kits and on the first two the wings fitted perfectly, on the current build I had the same issues. I thought I'd managed to install the intake tunnels upside down but now I'm not so sure. The nose issue, from my experience, is compounded by the cockpit tub being slightly wider than necessary, which leads to distortion in the forward fuselage. One the second and third builds I have thinned it down and haven't experienced the nose issues. that I did on the first. As always all my issues are usually my rubbish modelling. Still looking good Rob, it will be a cracker.- 95 replies

T-33 T-bird GWH 1/48 Dayglo scheme
Silver Fox replied to Rob K.'s topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I'll be watching this one with interest, I am especially interested in how you do the Day-glo. I'm currently at the painting stage of a GWH late T-33A. It is a nice kit but it is easy to get the intakes upside down which throws everything out, guess how I know!- 95 replies

More lockdown wargames figures, this time some cavalry. They are Perry Miniatures French Guard Lancers converted to Lancers of Berg. This involved removing unwanted epaulettes and cords. The elite squadron also had head swaps to give them hussar style fur caps. 20200425_172724 As always thanks for looking

Under two Flags, that brings back memories of working in London and always finding he had shut early or no opened that day.

The camera glass is included on the clear sprue so I think it is just a matter of time before Airfix do one.

Looking good, you are right about the airbrake actuator, it nearly caught me out as well.

Blimey Jim you've been busy. Great work

WW1 Diorama 'Over the Top and Through the Wire'
Silver Fox replied to Clogged's topic in Ready For Inspection - Dioramas
Fitting for ANZAC Day, really well put together and tells a poignant story of the lost generation. -
The ones that went to Japan were FG-1Ds, as Alan said, they were equipped with the stubs.
