  1. Is there anything in Weston Super Mare?
  2. Nice work Steve,Very impressed, I never ever finished one of these little beasts in my younger days, but I so have a couple of 1/48th Scale Aeroclub ones done and a new Airfix one to do.
  3. Thank you for the kind comment. I have built two Italian machines, this one is from the Special Hobby kit and has the later longer wings and another from the Must Have kit with the earlier short wings. The Must have kit is an easier build but is hard to find at least in the UK.
  4. Cheers Jim it would be good to see the Claymore figures. Stay safe in the madness Andy
  5. next off the production line is the Special Hobby F-86K. The mouldings are really nice but the port fuselage half was a different size to the starboard, only by less than a couple of millimeters but spread out along the length so there were no two points that matched the other half. That and the microscopic brass vortex generators made it a difficult build. RNoAF F-86K 6 If replaced the brass vortex generators with slivers of plastic card and cut and filed the modified the fuselage but it still looks wrong to me. I used a number of different metallic paints for the finish, all from rattle cans, and what felt like a couple of rolls of masking tape. RNoAF F-86K 4 The decals were from my spares box as I have built both the Must Have F-86K and a couple of other Special Hobby kits. It represents 54-1281 of 337 Skv of the RNoAF in the late 1950's. RNoAF F-86K 3 Finally here she is with my other long winged F-86Ks RNoAF F-86K 1 Onto something better engineered. Thanks for looking
  6. Great model as always, you are also right in saying what a great kit it is. Enjoy Duxford , my wife has bought me tickets for the airshow in September I have my fingers crossed for it to happen.
  7. Jim, there is a company called Renedra, who do most of the plastic injection moulding for wargame manufacturers in the UK. I was told at a wargames show last year the trouble is that they are so busy that the manufacturers can't get things out quickly enough. Companies are looking for alternatives and Warlord are starting to use an injection resin. Their latest stuff is out using this and they have announced a lot more to follow. The drawback seems to be that they are one piece castings so less individuality and scope for simple reposing. I haven't seen them in real life so I can't comment on the quality. Take care mate Andy
  8. Nice work JIm as always, They do seem to be excellently posed and detailed figures, I think Victrix are getting better with each new release.
  9. Fantastic work, the exhaust muffler is a work of art as is the wear and tear. Just one point, how does the driver see out through the sandbags?
  10. I added it after closing the fuselage but before the plates to its rear I added the rest of the glazing later
  11. Nice work, I do like the turret cover. I built this kit recently and had to fit the turret with all its masking prior to the main painting.
  12. More from my 1812 army. The General De Division is watching the Leib Battalion from Hesse Darmstadt marching whilst their artillery gets ready 20200729_185048[1] by [url=https://www.flickr.com 20200729_185109[1] by [url=https://www.flickr.com 20200729_185129[1] by [url=https://www.flickr.com
  13. Good news it's back, I still have a couple of Quickboost intakes in the stash so it would be rude not to buy the kits to go with them.
  14. That's lovely. Like you I built it a few times as a kid, but I only have a couple of 1/144th ones now.
  15. Beautiful work The heathland is very nicely replicated,
  16. It is a great kit, one of Airfixs best ever and you are doing it justice. Looking forward to watching your progress.
  17. Beautiful work on a beautiful machine from an average kit. I really enjoyed your build thread but not all the trials and tribulations. Time for an RNZAF one now young man.
  18. Sorry to keep hijacking your thread Steve, but I went with grey codes as per illustration 17 in Ospreys Spitfire Mk V Aces, which was published in 1997 and I also had as a review sample! I still had to buy the base kit though. I think with hindsight that Sky is a good shout, there are two photos of JK715 on page 84 of that book and frankly they could be either colour, as you saw the contrast between the upper surface colours is very low. Now back to out scheduled program..
  19. Steve, for what it's worth I dug out my 1997 build of Mackie's Spit after its repaint. I need to do some remedial work as I've lost the aerial and the paintwork is really dusty. I make no claim to accuracy but it might give you some ideas. I used a set of Mk VC wings from ED models that I don't think were every on general release, I was give them as a review sample for Quartet Scale Modeller.
  20. From what I remember he quoted Olive Drab and Grey?? to repaint the Desert camouflaged Spitfire I used a mixed grey and a greenish OD but I built i in the last century so my memory isn't that accurate. What i tried to do was make it different to other TLS models in my cabinet.
  21. I did his Spitfire Vc in 1/48th, I loved the idea that after he had to crash in Tunisia, he borrowed a spanner from the Army to remove the six stub exhausts to fit to his new aircraft.
