  1. Thanks for your replies chaps, that was my view as well.

I always think of HSS on Hunters until the mid sixties and the RNZAFs B(I) 12 were delivered in 1959/60 in overall HSS, but 75 Squadron flew leased Canberras I just wanted to ak the well informed people here if it was possible.

  2. I can only agree with FZ6, the Classic Airframe kit is pretty fabulous. It goes together well, better than any other of their kits IMHO, and better in places than the Hasegawa kit. The only possible issue is that the nose is too narrow, but a fillet of plasticard to bulk it out solves the problem.

The problem is that the kit is no longer in production and has become hard to find. There are two conversions to fabric wings version based on the Airfix model, one from MDC and I think one from Heritage. I have built neither though a fellow club memeber has done the MDC model and it looks good.

    Hope this helps

  3. Hello!

I've just buy this item: http://www.heritageaviationmodelsltd.com/h...er-t10-39-p.asp but I don't find a review on the web.

I just wan to know what do you think of this conversion.

    Thank!

    SEb

Built one about four years ago, generally a very good conversion ( I'm talking about fit not accuracy, which I don't feel equippped to comment on). I used the GR7 boxing of the Hasegawa kit which made some of the parts redundant, if you go from a US version you will use more of the detail bits. The canopy was a trifle thin and I was glad there were two.

    Go for it I say.

  4. The outer wing panel fit can be "interesting".

    Phil

I found the best way for me to achieve a good outer to inner wing fit was to leave out the wing bulkhead on the outer panel and not to use the short spars. This gave a little give when assembling whih really helped.

Looking good so far, the Ventura decals are really well produced and I like the roundel colour which possibly capture the fading prevelant in the SW Pacific.

  5. OK I've decided to go ahead with the decal sheet. It will include ALL RNZAF TA-4G/K colour schemes from the very first right up to the very last day. The sheet will also have markings for the A-4K Skyhawks as they were for their final flight in RNZAF service plus a few interesting markings that got missed on the first two sheets!

You have just made me very very happy please PM me as soon as you have them and I'll order.

    Andy

After reading your thoughts I'm beginning to wonder if I was to release an addendum sheet for the TA-4G/K's it would solve a lot of your problems hey? Would you have any interest in such a sheet?

    Oh yes pleeeeeeeeeeeease

  7. White ferns from 1958, changed to silver in 1961. The red kiwi was instigated in 1970 but no NZ Canberras wore it. These is a realy good photo on one of the A4 websites of the Canberras and the replacement Skyhawks all lined up in early 1971 showing this.

Try Ventura decals as they have recently brought out a set of Fern leaf markings.

  8. I seem to recall (maybe wishful thinking on my part) that John was actually considering this...I mean he already has/had the fuselage pod and undercarriage units......and tailplane! Over to you John?

And agreed...the Aeroclub vacfrom/multi-media vampires were superb - I did my two as an FB9 and a T11 (with help from the Xtradecal sheets)! Wish I had another to do an NF.3...........................but at least I can go CA on that one!!!

Absolutely agree, come on John you know you want to...

  9. The Hobbycraft Vampires as people have alreadt#y said are a POS.

The Classic Vampire is buildable with care and with the Aeroclub bits is very nice, but the best of the lot is the Aeroclub vac-formm it has bits for a single seater, trainer and nightfighter so if you don't mind the dark art of vac'ing then thats the one to look for.

  10. Here's a set with KL-B in it in 1/48scale, not sure which 'Kiwi' it represents, but the serial numbers on the sheet will tell you that I guess.

    http://pacmodelscatalog.com/Merchant2/merc...gory_Code=sky_d

There may be an issue with the code colours though, as they are shown in white when they should be in Sky. At least it would give you the 'Kiwi' decal, then you may be better off getting a generic decal set with the right colour codes on it.

In his biography Nine Lives , the author makes a strong case for N3183, the aircraft he had his air to air collision in, having the Kiwi emblem on both sides of the fuslage, where as N3180 as portrayed in the Airfix 1/24th kit only had the badge on the port side. The PCM Battle of Britain sheet has markings for N3180.

  11. Does anybody have ever build this one?

I have it in stock for many yeras, but haven't found enouth info on it,to start building it.

I have some drawings but nothing special.

Where can i find some photos, drawings of the interior etc?

I built this kit about ten years ago as a 616 Squadron machine after being given a photo of one outside Hanger 4 at RAF Doncaster. The model is now at the South Yorkshire Air Museum, which is actually in Hanger 4 of the old RAF Doncaster.

I used photos of I took of the Shuttleworth machine, sadly I can't post them as they are prints. I found Aeroclubs plans to be a great help. :thumbsup2:

Hope this is of some help.
