  1. Great start, I'll be following this as I've the family sized F model next up on the to do pile.
  2. Yes, you did the Blenhiem at the same time, I had 6 months between my CR 42 and my 229 Squadron Blenhiem and even then it wasn't enough.
  3. Unless it is completely new one, I did this about 6 years ago to make an RNZAF 339 CB. Lovely castings the fuselage halves were as thin as the best injection moulded kit and by far superior to the FREMS orginal.
  4. It certainly assembles more easily than the Classic kit and has things like the wing root intakes in place, The interior isn't as detailed but is sufficient to meet the needs of most modellers give the small size of the cockpit opening. The major parts match up nicely to the Alia d' italia plans and the old Aviation News plans. How accurate either of those are of course is a matter of conjecture. The orginal Classic issue has all the faults of the 1960's Revell 1/72nd scale kit, plus a few of it's own. The CAI machines cannot be built out of the box as the two issues so far have either the long hedgehog exhaust used by the night flying versions or the filters used by the AS (North Africa) machines. Hence my comment about the detail pieces, I used some of the interior and the under nose air intake to produce mine. Both my heavily modified 1st boxing and my Italeri modified machine were on display at Telford this year I hope this is of some use.
  5. As someone who arm wrestled the original issue into submission I feel your pain with the second edition. I started mine then gave up as the Italieri CR42 came out. Most of the nice detail ended up in the latter. Nice work all the same and you have produced a very nice result.
  6. I know of no other stockists and Belcher weren't at Telford this year which normally means they'll be here next year but thats a long wait. I have ordered from Canada and had no issues but I can also suggest e-mailling Relish as he is very accomodating.

I really like these paints, thin them slightly with their thinners if airbrushing. Get some Sky and interior green as well.
  8. Looks darn good to me, it will fit in nicely at Telford! Glad to see you are using your time off wisely.
  9. IIRC the 3 ANS markings were of an aircraft flown by Alan W Hall the ex-owner and editor of SAM. Lovely little kit but the engines were difficult to clean up. The resin ones will be miles better.
  10. Another resolution broken, I'll have to do a penance. Any idea of the actual available date?
  11. Bump, so this fabulous piece of work gets a better audience.
  12. I have the Ventura sheet as well but haven't had the time or inclination to do battle with my FM Ventura. I hope the new rumoured Revell model surfaces soon.
  13. I haven't had the same problems with the new Ventura sets, and I've done two Mustangs, a Harvard and a Dauntless from different sheets. Sorry maybe yours was just a bad set. Still an fabulous model despite the issues. I wish mine looked as good.
  14. Very nice work indeed, you have really capture the way I think these machine would have looked. Were the decals the latest issue Ventura with the full colour instructions or from the original 80's 90s' sheet with the yellow instrucion sheet?
  15. Seeing it in the plastic last night shows how the picture do not do justice to the model. It is just fabulous. Are you taking it to Telford?
  16. Sorry to see you has the same issues I am having with the TA-4, I thought it was just me. Fabulous work and lots of inspiration thanks mate.
  17. Just got mine via Amazon, then found that they had one in stock at Doncaster Air Museum. What a fabulous book, why hasn't Airfix done the Meteor family in 1/48th?
  18. If you do get one, don't be put off by horror reports of build issues. I admittedly took three years to build mine, but it was, in truth, no harder than the average limited run kit. The turret is a bit aneamic and the nose glazing needs some internal support but other than that it is not too bad. It certainally is better than the Anson.
  19. Nice work, well worth all that expenditure of bad language.
  20. He said 1/48th in the title so I guess that the scale he wants, I answered on that basis. Brilliant links to Aviaology though, I was completely unaware they existed. For the IPMS Battle of Britain SIG display at Telford, James Nicholsons nephew is building a Hurricane of his uncles aircraft, I'll pass him the link in case he hasn't finished it yet, though it might be cutting it a bit fine. Thanks. I am just reading 'One Armed Mac' so I'll be ordering a set too.
  21. It continues to amaze me that no manufacturer has produced decals for Nicholsons machine. I think that this is partially because, as far as I am aware, no photos exist of P3576. Therefore some logically conclusions have to be reached. If it helps. in the most recently published book on the Battle of Britain the illustrations show the codes to be standard size for a Hurricane making them 24 inches which means that these can be found on the appropriate Xtradecals sheet, X48022, as can the serials X48044. If you want to go oversized then the 32 Squadron markings in the re-issue of the Airfix 1/48 scale may help if that is your chosen scale as they give you GZ B. With a bit of cutting GN A is not too far away. Hope this helps.
  22. Fabulous work as always, Calum. Thats two good looking machines.
  23. I was completely unaware that SA codes were used by 456 Squadron, as I had always associated them with 486 Squadron which didn't form until 1942. You live and learn.
