Wonder if it was a Black Buck Vulcan, and they made the same mistake with the picture? š¤£

New Tool Airfix Vulcan 1/72 - Black Buck rebox announced
IT_Man replied to Adam Poultney's topic in The Rumourmonger
I'm no expert, but I wonder if they were to "correct" it for future issues, providing 3D printed parts might be more cost effective? -

Now in stock at Hannants, interesting blurb, re: faithfully recreate!!: Includes Shrike Missiles and ECM equipment, allowing you to faithfully recreate the Avro Vulcan B.2 that conducted in the famous Black Buck raids. -
New Tool Airfix Vulcan 1/72 - Black Buck rebox announced
IT_Man replied to Adam Poultney's topic in The Rumourmonger
The one called BUNDLE is the Airfix offering, which includes the coin (a bundle of the standard kit, with the coin). You can only get the coin from Airfix, so Hannants et al only get the kit. Once the bundle runs out on Airfix site, it will revert back to the regular kit number. I wouldn't have thought there's any difference in the box, to take account of the coin, as it would increase their production cost to have a variant for so few pieces. It's the quantity of coins that is the limited factor, the kit itself will be however many thousand in the production run. -

Was reading up on Black Buck - this is a really good story about the diversion to Brazil: https://vulcantothesky.org/articles/black-buck-six-rio-de-janeiro-diversion/ -
Wonder if Academy might give it a go? The 144 one looks nice in-the-box, and their kits seem to be improving nicely year on year.

Interestingly, had a chat with a couple of retailers over the last few weeks, and apparently they're only getting 50% of the stock they've been ordering on kits such as this, the Sea King and various other recent Airfix releases. Hopefully this a good sign that demand is high for these subjects!

I'm eyeing up some of their kits one day.. got quite into the BTCC in the mid-90s!! FYI, they are now being distributed in the UK by The Hobby Company (who do Tamiya, Italeri and others) so they might be more readily available. Can't see this kit on their site, though there are a couple Beemers in the following code numbers.

1/48 - Lockheed-Martin F-35A & B Lightning II by Tamiya - released

The A variant was Ā£90 RRP, so you could deduce that as its similar ballpark, it will be a pure Tamiya kit? The Italeri one is a bit further back (about Ā£75?). Pure guesswork or trying to find logic with Tamiya! -

Could well be, although I think if it's a re-box they give it a different code (37xxx), at least for the 48th stuff. That said, in 1:72 they mix them in with the regular 607xx type numbers so who knows! -

To be fair the "Venezuelan" scheme does look good! -
Is there actual beef between Eduard and AH? Or is something lost in translation?

Finemolds gone too far? - WW2 Japanese kitchen car

Back on the actual topic, it's good to see more Japanese stuff. Hopefully we might get a bit more Japanese armour coming through - woefully covered, some really good colourschemes! -

Airfix Bond Bug 1:32 - a long absent kit from their range
IT_Man replied to Mike's topic in The Rumourmonger
Interesting email from Airfix... though not great value if it is 1:76 as they suggest š Our most pre-ordered kit ever! Our Bond Bug kit is so popular that it has almost sold out before it even hits the shelves! This iconic orange three-wheelerās striking appearance is unlike any other car! The chunky wedge shape and two-seat design make this kit a joy to build and a delight to display on your shelf! Returning to the range as a Vintage Classic after almost 50 years, this 1:76 scale kit wonāt be around for long. If you havenāt ordered yours yet, thereās no time to waste! -
End of July in the UK apparently. I'm getting one for my neighbour, half expecting to be called in to assist with the build!

I've picked one up from Models2U this AM. Apparently this has been the best selling of the new tooling ones thus far for them. https://www.models2u.co.uk/contents/en-uk/p17871_F-16-D-Fighting-Falcon-(Block-30_40_50).html

Academy catalogue 2023 - newsletters 1, 2, 3 & 4
IT_Man replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Interesting. Seems like a good move if they can get the price point right (IIRC the Minicraft Hercs were pretty expensive). Assuming the Chally 1 is the same as the Revell one - they seem to be reboxing a few of their kits recently. -
I've been buying from them for about 15 years, not far from me so often collect. Well recommend giving them a try, great customer service.
