  1. That looks really good Nenad. I think you managed to capture the dusty look very well. Wayne
  2. Looks like it's coming along very nicely Rob. I really enjoy the weathering stage. It is easy to get carried away though so I try to build it up in layers to keep it in check ( although you will probably think I didn't follow my own advise when you see my Matilda ). Wayne
  3. Thank you. That's along the lines of the way I have been doing it. I just find that sometimes using modelling pigments where I want the impression of a fine dust layer that they can be a little course when viewed close up. I will try thinning them a bit more. Wayne
  4. That's was my suspicion. I have ordered the Mk.10 to be safe and will sell the Mk.5. Thanks for your help. Wayne
  5. Thank you very much Badder, I love your description, very much appreciated. The AFV Club workable track links are plastic but I really liked them apart from the ejector pin marks that I mentioned above. I need to brush up on my figure painting skills which is why I don't include them. I feel unless they are done right they can spoil the whole look of the model. I have got a couple of dioramas that I am planning on doing so I will need to practice on some in the near future. Photography is another of my too many hobbies and interests so it's nice to be able to combine them. Cheers Wayne
  6. I have the Takom Mk.5/5p kit that I was hoping to do in the Berlin Brigade scheme. Although that is an option the kit I haven't managed to find a picture of an actual Mk.5 in this scheme. The Tankograd book only shows Mk.9s, Mk.10s, Mk.7RRV and a Mk.5ARV. Were there any Mk.5s in this scheme or am I going to have to invest in the TaKom Mk.10? Hopefully somebody will be able to answer this for me. Regards Wayne
  7. Very nice indeed! Do you use anything to fix or seal in the pastels? Wayne
  8. Thank's Nenad I used a blend of Mig's Europe Earth and North Africa Dust in a ratio of around 70%-30% on this one but this vehicle is based more in the plains rather than the desert. I used the reverse mix on an A13 Cruiser that I finished in the Caunter scheme but I was never really happy with it. I'm not convinced of the tones they seem a little yellow to me. Problem is I have no colour photos to work off of so I'm guessing really. I am about to start weathering an A9 Cruiser that I have painted in the Caunter scheme and I might try something different this time. I was thinking of using less pigments and more heavily thinned acrylic paints to get the same dusty effect.
  9. Thanks Bob, I know what you mean, I've got far too many projects planned but I doubt there's enough time in the world to get them all finished. Even though the current situation has given me a little taster of what retirement might be like there is still not enough hours in the day.😁
  10. That's looking really very good Nenad. I really enjoyed building mine unfortunately I managed to break the tracks during the photo session. I couldn't get a satisfactory finish on the repair so I'm waiting for some replacement ones from Bronco. Have you used the link and length ones or the rubber ones? I can't say I particularly like link and length ones but yours look to be a lot more even than I managed to do. Wayne
  11. Cheers Zig! The tracks are quite dominant on a Churchill so I'm glad my efforts seem to have paid off. Wayne
  12. Thanks Gaz! Much appreciated.😁 Aircraft and AFV modelling are really quite different disciplines and I enjoy both equally but I have to say I find AFV's less taxing on my poor old brain and eyes.
  13. Hi Dennis, this definitely something I would be interested in. I only really build British AFV's. Wayne
  14. That's really very nice! Not a vehicle I'm familiar with and you have made a lovely job of modelling it. Wayne
  15. You've made a love job of that Ian, I do like a StuG, I've got too many projects on the go though.
  16. Thanks Ian, Looking at the photos I've decided to make a couple of alterations. Just hope I don't mess it up.🤞
  17. Thank you very much! I did notice a couple of things on the AFV Club kit but a little too late. The most noticeable one being that the barrel is somewhat undernourished. I have got an RB models one which has more girth to it and seems a lot more accurate than the kit barrel although the bore in the muzzle will need increasing. I obviously intended to use it as it was still in the box.🙄 Now I've seen it I think I will change it. Also the vision ports guards seem too high but that might not be so easy to change. In the photo I used and the one below there seems to be some rolled up fabric attached to the glacis plate, I wondered if this is some kind of dust shield such as the ones used on the Kingforce tanks. This photo also shows the middle track guards removed. I believe this practice did lead to some nasty accidents when riders or crew stepped down when the tank was still moving.
  18. I admire your patience, that's a lot of holes to fill. I have a set of their Heavy Cast Steel tracks for another AFV Club build but I haven't checked to see if they have the sink marks. There are a few options of finishes for the Churchill's and they all bring different challenges but I find that's the part I enjoy. I have got the Tamiya one as well that I use to experiment on. It's currently got a winter white wash which is fun to do.
  19. Thank you! I have no doubt yours will be very good. I was tempted to do that one as well but after doing a little research I realised it would require making or sourcing some extra parts such as the dust guards and fuel drum.
  20. Thank you very much! To be honest I found matching the side in the photo was easier than doing the areas that I didn't have a reference for. Trying to figure out how the pattern would have gone over the top and down the back and keep it consistent was a lot harder than it probably should have been.
