  1. What a lovely model in a brilliant scheme,..... I remember HMS Onynx wearing a similar scheme but darker during the Falklands War in 1982. Cheers Tony
  2. Love it,...... and love the dio,....... my only criticism is that you forgot to turn your Iron on when pressing that sheet LOL!! Great Stuff,....... cheers,...Tony
  3. I landed at Leeds Bradford in a Herk in 1989,..... returning from Germany with 4 Para,....... about 8-9 aircraft,......and it was the dodgiest landing ever due to cross wind,..... I was looking straight down the runway from one of the side windows,...... then a huge boot of rudder to straighten up and we were whacked onto the ground!! I`ve done Khe San approaches with a Scorpion tank bellowing out fumes in front of me,..... but that was the dodgiest landing by far!! I`m in Milnrow, just over the Pennines and we get lots of aircraft over following the motorway at low level,...... but due to the Manchester Airport stack we don`t get many transports unless they are going into Manchester. Cheers mate, Tony
  4. Yes,... the basic airframe is still Mk.IIc,......... for the 80`s you`ll need 6 stub exhausts and to cut the cannons off,...... check whether it had the bulged panels over the gun bays too,...... all pretty easy to sort out. Cheers Tony
  5. I`m not too far away and have not had the chance to see one of these yet,......eyes to the sky!!
  6. Hoping to do a pre war one based in Singapore for mine,..... with B Type markings and huge codes. A Finnish one will look brilliant,..... and for your French one,...... the cross of Lorraine was blue,....... red ones were not allowed as they looked too much like red cross ambulance markings!! All the best mate, Tony
  7. Thanks Steve,...... yeah nice easy kts that look OK upon completion,...... you cannot really ask for more than that I suppose mate. If Revell just put a tiny bit more effort into their research they would have some stunning kits on their hands,.....Spitfire, Mustang, Halifax spring to mind! You will have to post yours mate? ...... Is it the one next to your hand in your photo?
  8. Cheers Mike,....... thanks for confirming my suspicions about those reinforcing rivets on the upper wing,...... I looked at loads of photos trying to find them, to no avail,... I very nearly sanded them off and wish I had now!! I sanded the upper cowling as flat as I dared and then re scribed the detail,...... so agree with you there too.
  9. Thanks mate,....... the only thing letting the Revell kits down are their canopies as you say,.........as well as the clarity their fit isn`t great either.
  10. Cheers Martin,..... the decals for FB337 come from a Hasegawa kit mate.
  11. Hiya Folks, I have liked the scheme worn by AK-A flown by the CO of 213 Sqn in N.Africa and Italy for some time,...... and so started a couple of 1/72nd Revell Mustang`s with the idea of building one in these colours,..... however during that time I bought the 1/48th Revell kit which included the same decals for a 213 Sqn aircraft,....... so I built that instead and the small Mustangs were left gathering dust on a shelf, part painted. During a recent tidy up I decided to finish them off and here they are now,..... not my best effort,..... but they will do; 213 Sqn, N.Africa and Italy; 19 Sqn, UK Based; Cheers, Tony
  12. Hiya Folks,....... Well I`ve returned to this big beast! The cockpit has been fitted out and the canopy fitted too,........ but the thing is a nightmare,.... very thick and it doesn`t fit! Having tried to bodge it,...... I finally decided to add filler around the canopy and to sand the area smooth, then re paint it,...... so here we are with filler applied. The nose glaing was just as badly fitting too,..... and you can see it here on the nose which has been temporarily attached; And yes,.... after taking the photos,...... that bloody fin fell off again!! Cheers Tony
  13. WOW,...... That looks amazing Neil,...... I love the pre war scheme you`ve chosen too,....... you`ve inspired me to get mine started!!! All the best mate, Tony
  14. Thats a beauty John,.....and I love the scheme you`ve chosen too,........ well done on adding the tie down ropes which I forgot on my Lee!!! Certa Cito Cheers, Tony
  15. You have made a wonderful job of this Patrik,.... and the Skua and Vildebeest are very nice too,...... congratulations. Cheers Tony
  16. Cheers Paul,...... I read that about the Vulcan too,...... typical Brit humour!! Fancy seeing it,...... I bet you gave a double take upon seeing that!
  17. Cheers Chris,..... there are a few brushes that I tend to go for where possible,... Sable if I can get them,.......Pro Arte are good,...or Sceptre Gold. They are quite expensive but if you look after them they last quite well. Wide Flat brushes are good for covering a large area.
  18. Thanks again fella`s,...... the Bucc does look cool in those colours. Imagine a Vulcan finished like this!!....... In fact,...... wasn`t Vulcan B2 XM607 finished with desert coloured undersides at the same Red Flag in 1977? Imagine if they had gone the whole hog and done the top too, what do you think Neil https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/profile/4520-woody37/ !; Cheers again folks! Tony
  19. Hiya Folks, I don`t think I`ve posted this `oldie' before,.... built from the old Airfix Bucc kit,... first of,..... here are some pics of the real thing; And here is the model,..... on the real aircraft the Light Stone and Dark Earth scheme was applied over the normal DE/DG/LAG scheme, leaving the rear fuselage in the original colours due to jet efflux and the nose radar radome clear too,...... so I tried to replicate this,..... the scheme was brush painted; Cheers, Tony
  20. Looks gorgeous,..... I just hope that they are not overly expensive here in the UK,...... the Proctor is over £20!
