  1. Thanks for the kind comments folks and Kenny,..... the aircraft that I`m replicating doesn`t appear to have the red filler cap, nor the rear fuselage fuel tank,.... as mentioned by Mike. It appears to have been stripped of camouflage, including all stencils? Here us the model with the serials added,..... using stencilled style decals from Ventura set V7252. The propeller has been partially cleaned up and had its decals added too and the `G' hs been altered to match the real thing better by having the flourish mde narrower . And here it is with some of my other projects that are underway too; Cheers Tony
  2. WOW,.... that is gorgeous Bill,...... yet another superb build mate,...... lots of hard work gone into that but it was well worth it,........ definitely the best Privateer that I have ever seen, Cheers Tony
  3. This is one of the best Canberra models that I have seen,,,,,,,, superb,....... not a fan of the markings,...... but it does look fantastic.
  4. Thanks Adrian,..... much appreciated on both counts mate.
  5. Hiya Folks,...... pat way through the decals,...... I`m getting the stencilled serials from a Ventura sheet, the codes are from the KP kit and the rest of the decals are from this kit; Serials should be on soon! Cheers Tony
  6. Thanks Paul,..... the flooded cellar is the least of our troubles mate,....... glad you like them...... cheers.
  7. Thanks mate,..... that is very kind of you,..... Happy New Year to you too.
  8. LOL,.... yeah,.... they were in the place I looked first,... and re checked loads of times,...... one day,,..... they were just there,...... standing out! We honestly think we have a mischievous ghost in our house,..... this happens on a regular basis! We have a photo of the houe from Victorian times and there is a ghostly looking woman on the doorstep,..... we like to think that this is her!
  9. Thanks Keith,.... that is very kind of you mate. Happy New Year to you too.
  10. Lovely job and great subject,....... but didn`t this aircraft wear Jimmy Whalen`s BITSA nose artwork too? Many of the Ceylon Hurri`s did not have Vokes filters fitted,..... there were a mixture; Here is a similar, larger design on his Spitfire in the UK,... on the hurricane it was applied to a removeable panel and his kills are recorded inside the artwork. This is the Hurricane that Whalen was flying with 34 Sqn in April 1944,....HW840-S; The BBMF flew a SEAC schemed Hurricane which was meant to look like the above,...... but incorrectly marked with SEAC stripes, EG codes and small SEAC roundels,..... the nose art, seen here, was said to be based on the original with info from the family,... I`m not sure if the size is correct,...and the layout is a little different from the one on the Ceylon based Hurri which had swastikas in the top left corner and Hapanese hinomaru`s on the top right,......but hopefully it might help in case you want to paint the small insignia onto your excellent model? Please take this in the spirit it was intended,...... your model is superb,..... I was just worried that you might have been unaware of his artwork? Cheers Tony
  11. Back from the shelf of doom,....... I have added an Olive Drab anti glare panel and a dark blue nose ring to this P-47, followed by a coat of clear gloss varnish,..... readyfor the decals; I`m thinking of doing thiS aircraft,..... Bar Fly,..... not keen on the name of the other option!; Those individual fuselage stripes may be a challenge,...... so this could end up being a very different P-47D,...... wish me luck LOL!! Cheers Tony
  12. Thanks Fella`s,...... yeah I have a copy of that IPMS Canada article `somewhere',...... I`ve been looking for it today,...... so cheers to Mike and Jim for sending me an electric copy,..... it is so very kind of you lads! Yeah I`m going with no anti glare panel on this one,....... I`m also going to do a camouflaged 441 Sqn RCAF Mustang too,.....probbly in 1/48th,.... plus a Spitfire Mk.IX too. I got some gloss varnish on the model tonight while watching La La Land,..... again,..... so hopefully the decals tomorrow along with finishing off the propeller blades, Cheers Tony PS,.... I`m in two minds whether to add an RCAF `Oversea' Maple Leaf below the cockpit,...... `maybe' it was masked in the photo by the wing? Most of the camouflaged Mustangs on the squadron seem to wear one?
  13. Hiya Folks,.... I`ve not forgotten this one,...... BUT,..... I have just found the resin flaps that I`ve been looking for all of this time,....... so the build will be back on shortly!!!
  14. LOL,.... I think you were right with mad,..... no other explanation! Never jumped the J,..... just the old K,..... both versions......... loved it,..... but not the airsickness or the standing up waiting to jump with all of that kit on. I was in the process of cross kitting the J with a K too,..... in order to do the recent 47 Sqn Special J,..... and also C.3P XV305 in a 70 Sqn special scheme which is also provided on a different Xtradecal sheet,..... but incorrectly labelled and illustrated as a J,..... it is overall green with the 70 Sqn insignia on the fin. Like you say,..... we can get a bit carried away,...... I also want to do an early Light Stone and Dark Earth one too with the tactical roundels and I`m currently building another Zvesda kit as XV215 when she wore `The Fat Slags' artwork in the Gulf. Just humming and ahhing about what colours to use for the faded paintwork. All the best again mate and good luck in 2022, Tony
  15. Cheer Mike,..... it is Tamiya rattle can Bare Metal Silver mate. Cheers for the pic,...... it is clearer than the one I have in a book,....... I would say that the dark area along the spine and nose is glare maybe? I suspected that it was just stripped back to bare metal and your larger pic has helped convince me that no anti glare panel was applied. It also confirms that I need to use stencilled serils rather than the KP ones that I have,..... the codes are also thicker,..... but I may just have to lump it with those,..... I was sent an IPMS Canada by a friend (cheers Jim!),..... but I think that he kept the 1/72nd options for himself, leaving me with the 1/32nd and 1/48th ones?? Here is the photo that Mike attached; Cheers Tony
  16. Thanks for the kind comments folks,..... well I`ve got some paint onto the model today,...... might need another coat yet? Glad I chose the silver scheme,.... it shows off the exquisite detail of this kit beautifully,....... now I`m wondering if this 441 Sqn RCAF aircrft had an anti dazzle panel on the nose,..... it is hard to tell in the reference photo! Need to mask up the spinner again as some of the underlying paint is still visible! I`ve also dislodged the rear windows by moving the tissue inside the cockpit,...... been a bit of a fiddle these windows to be fair, possibly my crystal clear isn`t setting like it should? Cheers for now, Tony
  17. Thanks mate,..... yeah pull up a chair and grab some popcorn,.... or a beer.
  18. Haha,..... I don`t sleep much and lock down helped,..... but to be fair even I was surprised as I`ve cut down on the modelling this year,....... or at least I thought I had!! Thanks Gazza,..... yeah I caught a bit of a Mossie bug,..... got some more to finish off yet too,....... all the best for 2022 yourself mate,..... I think we are due some good luck eh?
  19. I have the Brengun kit and it looks to be a superb little kit of the Mk.I. There is an in box review here;
  20. Hiya Alistair, I`ve built a few more models since these,..... have you had a look at this WIP ? I discuss the exhausts above... they were a set from the spares box as I`ve built quite a few Eduard Spit`s,..... they were the rounded post war style,.......rather than the wartime style also provided. There are also some of the reference photos that I was sent by a friend,... I`m not aware of any plans,..... sorry.. Cheers mate Tony
  21. Glad to hear he hasn`t gone to the dark side yet Matt,....LOL,...... here`s hoping that you all get a reprieve for next year,........ as you can tell by my avatar pic,.... I was quite close to the old Herk myself too. Won`t go into detail for obvious reasons,...... but I can see a huge capability gap if the 2022 plans go ahead,...... especially for Airborne Forces. Keep up the brilliant work Matt,.... and the modelling! Zvesda have a short fuselage C.5 due this year,.... so some nice coloured tails at least! I would love to do the 206 Sqn C.4 with the tail artwork.
  22. A bit more progress,..... got the engine griils swapped over, larger drop tanks asembled, Malcolm hood canopy slide rails on and the rear windows behind the pilots seat,..... but the numbers on the instructions are wrong and they simply need to be swapped over; Just a quick clean up, then canopy masks on and time to paint,...... I`ll be spraying it using Tamiya rattle can Bare Metal Silver, Cheers for now, Tony
  23. Love them all Jonners,....... got to say I need to build one of those Dutch Martin`s to replace my old 1960` version! Loving the day job too,..... keep up the great work.
  24. They are all beauty`s Bruce,...... a good year indeed mate.
