  1. Beau is looking very nice. This version wasn't the best, so many accidents, especially during takeoffs and landings It gets the nickname "flying coffin" Alley Cat did a nice job on these wings I see.
  2. Hello, I'm wondering about the new Airfix Lancasters, are they good? Better than Hasegawa and Revell? Some people are complaining about large panel lines on Airfix kits.
  3. Hi Dave, Hasegawa has a very basic interior. I had bought a PE set for it. I know that the 1/72 scale is small, but I like full and reach interiors. And I can hear my wife: " You won't be able to see it after closing the fuselage" Research is an exciting part of modeling. Dave is right, you can learn a lot about the plane you are about to build. Modifications are a tricky part too. But without it, our hobby is a boring one. I like Lancaster. I saw her passing low many times in my life. Every time it was an unforgettable experience hearing these Merlins specific noise. I had attended University in Hamilton Canada, Hamilton is a home of one of two flying Lancaster in the world.
  4. Your project is going well, the nice plane you are building. The new Airfix isn't bad. RCN is kind of forgotten subject, I'm glad that you brought it up. Good luck.
  5. Time to close a cockpit. Original steel braces from the kit broke during removal, I had made it from scratch. The canopy didn't fit the fuselage well, there are gaps between it. For the version, I'm working on. The front lower vent hast to be filled in, and panel lines were redrawn differently. This way it will look like an early version of it. I have to rethink how to change cowling and upper gun housing.
  6. Time to make some rivets. First, on the wing surface, it took me an entire evening. And a coat of aluminium paint to keep it seal.
  7. Ok, every one. Another quick update. The wheel bay has no details, I have added plastic strips and rods and hand made bulkhead. Now it looks much better. After painting
  8. Hello. Working on the engine, I glued the metal valve's push-rods and spark cables. All were painted in silver Alclad from Mig, and shaft housing in blue.
  9. Hello David. I thought you have retired, watching old ww2 movies and shoot a comment from time to time on this forum. And hie you are, coming back with an interesting topic. I have in my stash Hasagawa's Lancaster too. Right now I'm working on two other projects, so I won't be joining this GB. Good luck.
  10. Hello everyone, Quick update form "battlefield". The kit is old, from 1974. Is has a combination of raised and recessed panel lines. First, I sanded it down the entire kit and cut new panel lines instead. Now it looks much better. Later on, I'm planning to add rivets. Just before the final painting and after the primer coat. Just before the final painting and after the primer coat. Also, I had been working on a cabin. PE set adding a nice touch to it, plus some extra wires from me. It comes quite nicely. The Interior will be painted in natural aluminum. Finished
  11. Thanks, Stevehnz for pointing it out, I would miss that otherwise. Well.. it supposed to be an easy build. After reviewing a Bufalo's blueprint, I had to add on the top of cowling two gun housing and lower the exhaust pipes. This will do the trick. Thanks, but I will keep it closed. Cutting it on pieces will be too risky. But on that picture, you can see that the interior is painted by yellow-green. I'm planning to due mine in silver, I believe that how it was done.
  12. Thanks nimrod54, yes it is very beautiful city. I encourage every one to visit it.
  13. Wow, advanced and challenged build it seems to me, PE parts will make this kit more detailed and "a live". Good luck
  14. Hello every one. From the "aftermarket department,' we have a PE set from Eduard and resin engine from Quickboost. Buffalo was a very particular plane, design by an inexperienced company. Design and build for the US Navy, it wasn't the answer to their preyers. It was too heavy and its center of gravity wasn't calculated correctly. RAF wasn't delighted by Buffalo's performance either. Only one nation was able to use Buffalo successfully, the Finnish Air Force. In the hands of Suomi warriors, it becomes a very deadly airplane. The kit I'm about to build will be done in a scheme from USS Saratoga just before the US has entered the WW2. I have chosen this scheme because I had enough of Dark Green& Dark Earth. Enjoy. And famous picture of crashed Buffalo, as you can see it has white stabilizers. Not silver like shown on the decals manual.
  15. I did it on Matchbox GB, good choice.
  16. Nice build Torbojrn I'm planning to work on Buffalo my self soon, but on 1/48 Tamiya kit in a scheme from Us Navy. Finnish Buffalo is very nice in did, and I will do one of it in the future. Good luck with your build .
  17. Hello every one. This is my choice for this GB, Buffalo from USS Saratoga,
  18. Hello everyone I cannot recall any GB about the Battle of France 1940. This period of WW II is kind of forgotten. I'm sure that a lot of us want to do it, it will be great fun. This GB could be about war at sea, land, and air operations in France including Low Countries at this period. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  19. Hello every one. What a great idea it is! I'm in. One of the matchbox planes will be my choice. I did so many, I have to choose one of them. Until April I have time to make up my mind.
  20. Very nice isn't a word I can use hire. Superb, excellent.
  21. WOW, this is really nice work. Tamiya is pretty old kit and you managed to "expose" every detail of it.
  22. Thank you all, for your kind words. Thank you, Nicolas, for bringing this up. Yes, I painted it by freehand and green patches aren't quite 100% exact. Regarding the demarcation line, I wasn't sure about it. Photos from the period are not the best ones and it is hard to see how it was done. I choose to follow the kit manual in this case. I wasn't sure about RLM 02 inside. The manual calls for RLM66, but the probability of RLM 02 been used inside is much bigger, so I used it. Show pictures of your project, I'm pretty much interested to see it.
  23. Check it out Greg. For the closed engine version, you don't need brackets. Just lay engine on the bottom of the fuselage. It will work.
  24. Nice kit. I didn't know if such a plane ever existed. Congratulations are in order.
