  1. I remember this project! Looking forward to seeing it progress once more. Matt
  2. Not sure if this will be helpful in tracking down the issues, but, over the last two days or so I've seen an error (That seems to be the same issue as noted in this thread) crop up in a constant, repeatable way. Each time I do a search of the forum it sits and thinks for a bit and then coughs up the following: "Service Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later. Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." As I said, this occurs every time I attempt a search. (Not complaining here, just wanted to share what I am seeing since in reading through the thread I didn't see anyone else mention problems with "search".) Matt
  3. Paul, Love the painting, makes me thirsty. Were you working from actual bottles of what is shown? That is quite a collection. Matt PS. The models look great as well.
  4. Cool project. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Some figure options you may not have come across: Here are some that somewhat fit the original drawing. And here is one that might work, but would change the story somewhat. Matt
  5. Beautiful work Rob. You have brought it to life and transported us back 80 years. Wonderful. Matt
  6. Really, really nice. The use of various elements (Trees, fences, support vehicles, equipment, etc.) adds a lot of interest to each of these and certainly gives me some ideas for future builds of my own. Matt
  7. Very nice build and an interesting story. That the Douglas World Cruisers were contemporaries of this attempt increases my interest in this since I credit, partially, the World Cruiser diorama that used to be displayed at the Air and Space Museum in DC as one of the reasons I love models and dioramas in particular. Matt
  8. Really nice and it is good to hear you enjoyed the kit as I've got one in my stash. Matt
  9. Looks really nice to me, especially considering the low time investment. Ain't technology grand? I bet your idea of adding some more detailing at the seams would really pay off. Some static grass poking up through the seams might add just enough colour to make the whole thing pop. Matt
  10. Looks really interesting Rob. The Micromaster stuff looks brilliant. Makes me want to build a floaty thing. Umm, for the roundel, why wouldn't you just paint it? The small size might make masking difficult, but, the small size may also mean you can use a punch to get the circles you'd need which would make it easier... I think. Matt
  11. The D-558-2, the aircraft that looks more like something out of an eight year old's imagination then any other. Nice clean build. Awesome collection. Matt
  12. They look great Rob. Took me a minute to figure out there were two of them. They are pretty tiny though, so, that's my excuse. Matt
  13. Rob, if my wit seems quick it is only because my typing is slow. Gives my wit time to get up to speed. Matt
  14. Flipping through my book of superlatives... ...hold on... ...still looking... ....looking... ...nope, I'm all out. šŸ˜€ Looks great Rob. Matt
  15. Working on it Rob, working on it. Indeed, I was in Montgomery County but am now in Laurel, so a little more east then previously, but still not far from Greenbelt. Thanks again all for the kind words. Matt
  16. Thanks for the kind words all. As a project goes on I find it more and more difficult to see anything but the flaws so it is good to hear different views and I am glad to hear folks like it. The scene came together out of a mistake from an online shop. I had ordered a different figure and when it was delivered it was the right figure in the wrong scale, 1/72 instead of 1/48. I let the shop know, they told me to keep the 72nd figure and they would send out the correct figure. The figure arrived and it was in the right scale but was now the wrong figure, this one. In looking at this figure the idea for the dio hit me and I decided to leave well enough alone and just keep this one. (I had plenty of figures for the other project anyway.) Matt
  17. Finished this up just recently and figured I'd share it here. I've been struggling with motivation to build which I believe is a direct result of not taking part online as much as I did in the past, so, by posting this up I hope this will help me get back in the habit of taking part. Wasn't sure if this should go here or in the dioramas section and ultimately decided to put it here since it is barely a diorama. (If it is at all.) Kit was Hasegawa's A6M5 with some ground equipment from the same, the figure is from Andrea and the foliage is from various producers. Thanks for looking in. Matt
  18. Great work Rob, she's a beauty. I've always admired your ability to work neat and clean and still end up with a result that looks completely natural and this one certainly fits that description. Matt
  19. This build is completely crazy and I am loving every bit of it and totally in awe of all of it. Matt
  20. Really nice work Rob, as ever. It's the kind of model I spend a lot of time looking at in person just discovering more and more details. Matt
  21. Been wondering where you were on this. Looking forward to the final pics as well. Matt
  22. Looks good. The chipping on the nose and nose art in particular look right on with what I remember from visits to the Air and Space Museum in DC. Matt
