  4. I've received and email from Hatton's informing me that sadly the firm is closing after 78 years. No firm date for the final closure but an orderly wind down is in progress.   5. Some fantastic shots there! The Wedgetail and the Canberra are the standouts for me but I would have been very pleased to have taken any of them.

  8. Thank you for the kind words Mike. With the imminent retirement of the F-5s then there should be even more aircraft available unless they opt for some kind of strategic reserve but I have not read of any such plans. It is a shame that so many of the better preserved aircraft aren't more easily accessible but then they are on military bases so I guess that is understandable.

  10. Thanks Steve; The Tracker schemes were certainly eye catching! As for the PL1 I didn't know they existed until I went to Taiwan. It was an educational and enjoyable trip in so many ways.
  11. Thanks for sharing this. I have to confess I think I prefer it in the natural metal scheme. Robins is not a museum I have been to but one of many I would like to see in the US. Maybe one day!
  12. Thanks very much Mark. We were thrilled to be welcomed by so many people despite turning up on spec. Can you imagine having these dotted around housing estates and in schools around the UK? Phantoms, Jags, Buccaneers, Harriers, Sea Kings etc. It would be great but they'd be covered in graffiti and parks missing most likely.

  14. Following on from the 4Aviation trip to South Korea and Taiwan in October here are some of the numerous airframes dotted around Taiwan. We found the aircraft in an almost bizarre variety of locations ranging from the grassy common area of a block of flats down a side street to colleges, schools, technical institutes, universities and parks. The aircraft were frequently accompanied by tanks and sometimes missiles or guns. Those on the gates of the various educational institutions were obviously used to foreigners arriving unannounced asking to take pictures as we were granted entry in all but one case where there was an F5 and we told we needed to apply in advance for permission. There are numerous retired airframes behind the walls of military bases the tails of which can be seen from the road but in many cases you needed a camera on a pole and to be quick with it as these were often close to the main gate with guards on duty or there was no parking available.   16. That is four months of work well done. A beautifully made kit with fantastic and tasteful weathering down to the smallest detail. Very impressive!

  19. Hi Chris, Good to catch up at Telford and thank you for the kind words re the museum images. Wrecks and relics images from Taiwan still to come! I see what you mean about the Cayuse but I'm not familiar enough with it to know how splayed the skids should be. Above are a couple of images that might offer some c;larity. If the skids are being pulled apart by the chopper's weight then I'm glad I'll not be there when they give up the ghost! All the best Ian
  20. Thanks for the generous comments gents, much appreciated! Photography in the museum was a bit of a challenge and I ended up using both my DSLR and phone but as we know while the camera never lies, the software does! As I plough through the various images there are a few of wrecks and relics that litter Taiwan including some F100s. I'll aim to post some when I have sorted through the images but it will be interesting to compare the skinning of the Super Sabre in the museum with those kept outside and less well looked after to see if there is a noticeable difference.
  21. What a great visit with pictures and aircraft histories to match! The number and size of some of the exhibits gives a clue as to the area that the air park occupies. Only in Texas surely 🤭! Thanks very much for sharing these Mark and certainly a place to visit if ever I get to the Lone Star State.
  22. Lovely set of shots in some great light. As others have remarked the KC-10 looks ready for retirement (or a repaint).
