    Which Primer?

I e just managed to get hold of some grey 1200 and the levelling thinner is on the way also! So as far the main paint coat, what paint type can I also use the levelling thinners with? The Mr Hobby site says the Surfacer is acrylic/lacquer so therfore I can only use it with acrylic?

    Which Primer?

Most are suggesting 1000 or 1200 which I'm finding hard to get! I can however get 1500! Would that be as good?

    Which Primer?

Wow, what a mission trying to find Mr. Surfacer in New Zealand! Unless I buy the spray can I may have to look at Tamiya as that seems to be the most readily available. Anyway, would the Mr. Surfacer spray cans have the levelling agent in them? Or could I decant it and add the levelling thinner?

Dave, I see at Mr. Color does a Surfacer in a spray can! Have you used that? Just seems less hastle than mixing! Steve.

    Which Primer?

Thanks for all the help. I think I'll try the Mr. Surfacer although there seems to be a lot of different grades of it like 500, 100, 1200! Can anyone point me in the right direction for which is best? Thanks.

    Which Primer?

For the purpose of this topic, I'll soon be starting to build one of my two Eduard Harrier GR7's. In the past I've use enamel based paints but then switched to acrylic purely due to having a better colour range and the clean up process is easier. Anyway, after using Vallejo paints I had problems with paint lifting after masking which included the primer coat! So, can anyone recommend a good acrylic primer that will stick like an enamel? Thanks.
  9. Does anybody know from when onwards the perforated wheels were used on the Challenger 2's?
  10. Does anyone in the group have a Castoff Scimitar LEP conversion laying around they would like to sell on? I've been holding out for Terry to start up the business again but It's not looking likely at this stage! Cheers.
  11. I am currently building a Hobbyboss Defender hardtop. The clansman TUUAM boxes don't really fit the era I was going for so I wanted to use BOWMAN. The only ones I have seen are done by Accurate Armour, however for the pics the casting doesn't look great and converting UK to NZ makes them pretty expensive. Does anyone know of another company that makes them or has experience of the AA ones to maybe advise me of their quality. Thanks.
  12. Thanks for the welcome message. So Brit modeller isn't just occupied by brits then! I'll be posting some of work soon but just struggling with how to get my photos on at the moment!
  13. Hello all. I'm steve. I'm currently living in New Zealand having moved from the UK 13 years ago. I'm more of an occasional builder really, 1/48 aircraft and 1/35 armour (British modern) I've just finished a Tamiya Challenger 2 which I converted to a late NATO green version, which I hope to post here when I can take some half decent photos. Currently working on a Hobbyboss defender hardtop and then I have a AFV club Scimitar to build, although that might take awhile as I want to do it in the LEP late style. I'm on the look out for the Castoff conversion which since they closed down might take a while!
