  1. Hello to all! In a Combat Aircraft magazine going back twenty, maybe thirty, years ago now, there was an article on USAAF fighters meeting Red Air Force fighters over Berlin in 1945. I can't remember if it was a one-off occasion in which the USAAF fighters commenced aerial combat against their eastern allies. I used to have the article all typed up, but now seem to have "misplaced" it. It's more likely that I deleted it from my files. I would appreciate any help in reminding me what issue of the magazine it was in? Thank you very much in advance for your response(s). Pete
  2. Hi to all. Thank you so much for all the responses. In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to those who have, without hesitation, provided reports from back then, for us all to peruse. It shows the generosity of their character. In addition, those individuals who freely provide other information or pose additional questions are just as worthy of mention. I am indebted to you all. Below I have pasted a URL to a IWM photograph showing one mix of rockets that I certainly wouldn't desire to see let loose in my direction. Maybe CT or someone else has published the photo in a book however, my perusal of 2TAF and other volumes of knowledge have been unsuccessful for me. Also, I am not savvy enough to get the link to work directly. My apology in advance. https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205221993 Pete
  3. Hello everyone! I have a question that has most likely been answered before. When the rockets are fixed into place on the railings, they are held there with clips. What happens to the clips when the rockets are launched? Do they break away into small fragments, or does some other ending occur to these disposable items? Thank you in advance. Pete
  4. I believe the main reason that a high number of Kiwis joined the FAA, is that a recruiting centre had been established in New Zealand earlier in the war.
  5. Hi to all, I have a couple of questions concerning the rocket armament that I would appreciate someone answering. There are various photos showing rockets joined together in pairs. Were they HE or AP rockets, or possibly a combination of both? Also, were the combinations made up, in mind for a specific type of target and how accurate would the combination be compared to shooting off rockets in a salvo? Thank you in advance. Pete
