  1. Also known as "it's amazing what you can do when you've got time on your hands" Having recently been confined to barracks due to a minor heart attack (and recently discovering that my consultancy contract was not being renewed) means I've had the last 4 weeks to thin the stash a little. This is the first fruit of all that free time, the Tamiya 1/32 F-16 CJ. Built out of the box, painted with a mix of Vallejo and Tamiya paints. Left side view Right side view Cockpit view Low level shot. The radar. Pictures taken on my iPad and I do realise I've still got to paint the pitot. Thanks for looking
  2. Thanks everyone. Yes, I think it might be time for a new phone soon. The panel line details needed a bit of a rescribe at the joins, but the fuselage is split horizontally, not vertically, so there's only the panel lines at the nose and on the wings to neaten, which makes life a lot easier. Panel line detail was accentuated with an oil wash, plus use of fded and lightened paint so it didn't look like one big block of colour. Cheers Simon
  3. That is an excellent piece of work. Making me want to buy and build one now.
  4. I find that adding white to paint to lighten it will make the colour look "chalky" and too stark. Tamiya Deck Tan or Buff works better for me as it retains some warmth and colour saturation ( some modellers even use Tamiya Flesh for this).
  5. And it's my big 50 today! Tamiya 1/32nd. F-16 from Fran and 2 trips to Cropton Brewery, 1 from my sister and her family and 1 from my stepdaughter. (Plus a cheque for £50 from my mother, a DVD and combination coaster/bottle opener from Fran's ex and his fiancée and a "mystery parcel" .(Which turned out to be an Airfix mug :-) )
  6. Here's one from earlier this year. It's the Airfix 1/48 Gloster Javelin which I bought at Christmas for a very nice £31.99 at Modelzone in the Metro Centre. 7. That's a really nice rendition. I like the subtle chipping you've done, it doesn't look like the aircraft's been flying through a sandstorm or that it's been attacked by maniacs with sandpaper.
  8. Thanks to everyone for the compliments. For those who asked, here are a few more photos
  9. Ah, I've just noticed the typo :-) . It's 1/32nd. There's a pen in one of the photos, that'll give you an idea of the size.
  10. Thanks for the compliments. I'll have to get a few more shots with something other than my iPhone when I get the opportunity. It all went together very well, apart from the engine nacelles which were a bit of a pig, to be honest.
  11. Here's the next one for this year. The Revell He 111 H-6 And yes, I know the cannon muzzle broke off.. And here's a rear view It's so big, I've had to display it on a computer desk in the mancave. Thanks for looking. Simon
  12. I'll have a look in the spares box. Might have a few of both types hiding in there.
  13. That's a lovely set of builds there. Black 14's particularly nice. Excellent mottling.
  14. That's nice :-). I'm going to do the other one in my Dual Combo kit in that scheme when I get round to it
  15. Where's that "jaw dropping" smiley? Ah. yes, there it is. that is fantastic
  16. That's a really nice collection. Exceedingly well done
  17. Thank you Al. Never been described as having a "style" before
  18. Hi everyone, These are the ones I managed to finish during 2013. I decided to do this one in flight for a change Tamiya F-16 by simon_rw, on Flickr Next Airfix 1/48th Seafire. Not much to say, apart from what a great kit. Airfix Seafire by simon_rw, on Flickr Next Hobby Boss Avenger in FAA colours. HobbyBoss Avenger by simon_rw, on Flickr Then Eduard P-39 from the dual combo kit.
