  1. I built this kit and the Prinz Eugen back as a teenager when the kits were first released, compared to their older kits (Hood, Bismarck, Scharnhorst etc) they were a big improvement, not up to offerings of others today though. I think Airfix is really just tapping into our nostalgia of kits will built back in the day, that way there's little costs involved outside the manufacturing, which is a shame and it will lead back to their what seems to be never ending problems.
  2. Here you go Air Craft Martin runs a superb set up, very fast delivery anywhere in the UK, I often get orders the next day if ordered before 3pm, I kid you not. It's the filter that matters not the masks as such, I've got the M3 7500 mask with 6051 filters had mine about 4 years, packed away in it's plastic bag after each use still works fine. Filter life is really about volume through it, yes for some toxins it's also time exposed to air/moisture but for spraying model lacquer volume is what matters IMHO. The instant I remove the mask I can smell the lacquer, even though I use a Bench Vent booth, with the mask on absolutely nothing.
  3. Superb build this is the livery I'm going for, thanks for sharing
  4. My disappointment is the chance that Meng has missed to turn out a kit as good as WNW for a more affordable price and in greater volumes. Which would have allowed others a chance to sample the quality WNW attained and it will stop what was and now is ridiculous profiteering from some sellers!
  5. I totally agree Duncan. I suspect they may have bought the proof tooling, design plans and rights, then rushed it into production. Looking at the sprues on the review, it's obvious to me they're not of the normal standard of WNW, Meng are clearly going for volume and lower unit price over quality. I'm disappointed, if I'm honest and I'm now glad I didn't get caught in rush to purchase. Being a Meng kit there'll be far more stock available, I'll wait to see what others make of the kit before making my decision as to whether to purchase.
  6. Sadly Ikea don't do the shelves as a spare part, why I've no idea they'd make a small fortune. Ikea are you listening!
  7. Has anyone managed to find a supplier of toughen/tempered glass to add extra shelves in the Detolf display cases? The prices I'm getting are ridiculous, it's far cheaper just to buy another whole cabinet and throw away everything but the shelves, I really don't want to do that or have the hassle. Acrylic is a waste of time, it bow's over time and it's not much cheaper than a whole new cabinet!
  8. Great pictures thanks for the link
  9. Yes, you need to seal the colour with varnish, if you want to do larger areas, Ammo's own varnish has worked well for me, although all my use of Ammo Mig was airbrush. Just be sparing with the the use of thinners, wet yes soaked and pooled no, also don't rub too hard.
  10. Oh yes, that brings back memories of many, many an hour spent one five, yes five (at the time) local model shops, I used to visit regularly on Saturdays. I could literally spend a whole morning in anyone of them and I was never hurried out. Yes I totally agree real gents indeed.
  11. As mentioned Airfix box art IMHO is the best for aircraft.
  12. If you want prompt supply and delivery you can't go wrong with Martin at Here everything you'll ever need to airbrush and super quick delivery, order before 2pm and I normally get it the next day, I kid you not. As with all tools, there's always going to be a learning curve, the more capable the tool the more the learning curve, stick with it you've made the right choice
  13. After your recent post, I thought I'd try mine again and sure enough just as it was turned the paint into lumps and wouldn't touch the paint on the wall of the colour cup. Mine looks like your lighter 2 bottles, all very odd, probably a bit too late now for me to contact them.
  14. Try warming the bottle in hotish water, add a couple of mixing balls, shake really well, works a treat. I spray through a 0.4 at 30psi, stop start etc, the needle does accumulate dried paint but a quick wipe and it's gone, it doesn't have any effect on the surface finish.
  15. I've had something similar, first bottle good, second bottle much like you, required a fair agitation and little bits of paint, the paint being Ammo Mig, Mr Hobby Aqueous and Tamiya. For me it happen a good while ago now and at the time I was starting to use Mr Hobby colour, which this cleaner won't touch. I switched to Mr Tool which cleans everything, so rarely use UAC and didn't bother contacting ISM. Oddly looking at mine the blue has also faded, very odd.
  16. That's sounds very interesting Duncan, do please let us know when you intend to start taking pre-orders.
  17. Unless you've already got your base kit, I'd hurry up and buy one, if it's not already too late!
