Well said Jim. Paint for yourself, you're the one that looks at the figures most. If others like your efforts it's a bonus. As for painting horses, I just go with what I feel like doing at the time. I have no fixed sequence.
-
And what about the 1st Royals? You could try some mottling on the greys by spotting with nuln oil Jim. I've tried it on some 1.72 amd it looks ok. You'd just have to practice a bit. I'm planning to revamp and expand on my Greys this year so only a hundred or so horses to play with 🤔 Oh there will be a few 1st and 6th there too

It's more a sculptor thing. Most 28mm Napoleonics seem to look like the old Strelets. Many like them that way

I forgot to mention that if the article is in a language you are not familiar with, simply use the browser translator before converting to .pdf and you can read the article in your chosen language at your leisure. 👍

THis links to a very good site. In there you'll find more links to all the information for Napoleon and his enemies. If you want to store the articles on your computer use an app that converts to .pdf format. I use Save as PDF and Print Friendly & PDF depending on the browser. Doing this will also preserve the live links. When you've read all the articles ( in about 2 or 3 years) I could possibly have a little more for you

You could always rub a couple of sticks together Ratch

1/10th Douglas Bader and Spitfire Cockpit
FredG replied to brodiebear's topic in Figure Work In Progress
Oh we like a bit of nerdy 👍 -
When you see this figure and the photos of Lanoe, it's not obvious that he was only 25 when he died. Nowadays 50 year olds look younger. Impressive painting BTW 👍

These 1806 Prussians, there's 4 sets of Infantry, are HaT The sets are Grenadiers (8135), Musketeers (8083), Fusiliers (8084) and Elites (8136). They're not particularly liked by many and admittedly sone have a very unusual gait (That's the figures, not the people who don't like them) but I think they look OK en masse. As far as I know there's nowhere else to get 1806 Prussians anyway

This first set in 'Advance' look not too bad. The eagle eyed will spot that I intentionally didn't clean off much of the mould lines. These are obvious on the first two photos when the image is blown up but in reality it doesn't really show , at least not with my eyesight. IR10 Wedel IR4 Kalkreuth If anyone from the two rear ranks suddenly burst into "I was born under a wand'ring star " It wouldn't surprise me in the least. More of them. More figures to follow over the next month or so.

I used a large variety of paints. I do use Citadel washes though.

Have you been stockpiling cocktail sticks Ratch? 👍

The marching/advance set. Left - The first battalion of the Westphalian Brigade. The 18th Battalion. I just noticed that one of them appears to be a replacement from the Brigade's 2nd Battalion, I'll sort that Right The first Battalion of the Lower Silesian Brigade. The 13th Battalion The Prussian Fusiliers 1806
-
The second half of the firing line is finished. These are from the first and second Battalions of the 2nd East Prussian Brigade. Left - 21st Battalion Right - 23rd Battalion Putting the firing line together gives , I believe, quite a good looking group. Added to the Grenadier ( finished) and Musketeer ( unstarted) firing lines it should be a mini spectacle ( I hope). I hope you enjoy them.

You don't need a second guess Jim 👍

1/10th Douglas Bader and Spitfire Cockpit
FredG replied to brodiebear's topic in Figure Work In Progress
To me it seems odd. I associate Bader more with Hurricanes. I know he did fly Spitfires of course, he bailed from one over France which ended his flying career due to captivity. It looks like a brilliant kit 👍 I suppose the bad joke is - I noticed his legs come separately -
The first half of the firing line. 1st Warsaw Brigade Left 4th Battalion Right 16th Battalion

I did that one two years ago
