  1. Cracking show Tom. My hat's off to anyone who can get that kind of result from an ID Models vac.
  2. 70 reg seems strange, as it looks to me like a Morgan 3 Wheeler, which was introduced I gather in 2011.
  3. Possibly, but I think it could also mean that you could have different paints of the same standard colour, but used for different applications. For example, you could have two paints whose colours both match BS381C-697 Light Admiralty Grey. One paint's formulation might make it suitable for ships but not aircraft, while it might be the other way round for the other paint.
  4. I think an RAF Mitchell will be in order
  5. That was the only week I ever tuned into a Jackanory story in full.
  6. I'd be up for this one. I suspect that my Boeing 314s are too far under way, but that still leaves a HP42 for sure, or possibly a Junkers G38.
  7. Would this be a matter of shortening the upper wing surfaces at the root or sawing the lower surface in half and shimming with plastic card? I must check the wingspan of mine.
  8. I gather that it's a truck that mounts a guyed pole that, together with block and tackle, acts as a crane.
  9. I'd like to join in too please; in addition to Mirages and Mysteres I've a Falcon 10 lurking somewhere as well.
  10. I've some spares, I might be able to get a set to you somehow
  11. That's coming along nicely there Steve. I got the transfer sheet for that kit in one of those decal packs that were put out decades ago, and the ones for the Dutch option went onto my Revell Mk 4 with no problems.
  12. The Go-Betweens: Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express
  13. I've recently purchased some of the RAF colours from AK in the bottles with crown-like caps. I'm not surprised to see you say that the grey is very dark. Their Dark Sea Grey is actually darker than their Extra Dark Sea Grey, the dark green is lighter than I would expect and their Ocean Grey is a medium neutral grey. It seems to be common for manufacturers to base Ocean Grey on BS381C-629. That might work for the unit-mixed Ocean Grey, but I have my doubts about it as a response to the MAP standard.
  14. Lovely result, Steve, resplendent in its silver finish. One thing which does intrigue me about this boxing of the kit is the style of the roundels as supplied on the transfer sheet. They look more pre-war than post-war to me, but there's every chance I'm wrong.
  15. I saw a Wolseley yesterday with what looked like circular lights either side of the radiator, 'inboard' of the headlamps. I guess that would make it a 6/99 or a 6/110, not that I'd be able to tell the difference just by looking at it. Until a few months ago, Ken Lawford Motors near Harolds Cross had a Rolls Royce Silver Spur in their showroom, price €21500. It made for an interesting comparison in price with the Jaguar XK120 which was going at the same place for €120000.
  16. I must have a shufti and see if I can still get transfers for an Operation Crossroads F6F-5K Hellcat.
  17. I'd like to come in with something Spanish, please. I fancy a blue and silver Hispano Buchon in 1/72, courtesy of Special Hobby.
  18. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I bought that kit at the IPMS Ireland show at the weekend.
  19. Certainly blows what I thought I knew out of the water. The impression I'd formed was: AP507C up to the Coronation Review; Light Admiralty Grey from the Coronation Review to the late '60s/early '70s; Light Weatherworks Grey up to the present day. That said, I've always been a bit resistant to the idea that RN ships presented a blue aspect during the '50s and '60s, albeit with a counterpoint being provided by the carrier anchors outside the FAA Museum.
  20. Royal Navy ships have been BS381c-676 Light Weatherworks Grey since the late '60s/early '70s. FS 36375 might be in the ballpark. Not too sure about the decks; I think they might be Extra Dark Sea Grey. I seem to recall quotes of FS 35237 and FS 36176 for the US Navy weatherworks Haze Gray and deck grey respectively.
  21. Galway's far enough north that there's a period from mid May to the end of July where the darkest it gets at night is Astronomical Twilight. For a few weeks around the solstice it's Nautical Twilight across midnight. That's magnificent work on the Sea Vixen.
