About Me

I'm a 40ish designer, web developer, occasionally a writer, and former sports photographer. I took up model making in 2016 when I discovered one of Mike Rinaldi's Tankart books — and, partly because of an interest in history, partly for a new creative challenge, I got deeply into it technically and artistically. Well, it was bound to be happen — I'm what people like to call a perfectionist, as if that's a bad thing! I prefer "detail orientated". 😁

I make almost anything, especially if it's interesting and different. Tracked and wheeled vehicles, some cars and bikes, aircraft from any era, large-scale figures. Dioramas are on the to-do list. If I have a preference, it's for British and odd subjects, which are sometimes the same thing. I tend to build things for their finishing potential more than anything else. I may have no prior interest in it, but be inspired by a photo, a benchmark model, or sometimes even the boxart. I try to give most military models a unique treatment, but factory fresh is very unlikely to be among them.

Influences: Mike Rinaldi, Adam Wilder, Matt McDougall, Will Pattison, Milan Dufek, too many to list...

Ask me about: Weathering; brushes and art materials; using Vallejo paints; making masks with a Cricut.

Don't ask me about: German planes and panzers.

Favourite manufacturers: RFM, Meng, MiniArt, Bronco, CSM, Takom, Aoshima, and sometimes Tamiya...

Least favourite: Airfix, Revell, Italeri, Academy, and sometimes Tamiya...

Please note: If you try to get my attention with a quote or @ tag, I won't be notified. Less "noisy" that way. If I'm following a thread (which I do if I've commented), I should see your comment. 🙂
