  1. Thanks! Yes I mainly used airbrush with some careful(and suffering!) masking process. Some small parts and details are hand painted. All I used is GSI Creos Mr. Color lacquar paint.
  2. Thank you all for your nice comments! Yes I know the Sea King is not the correct variant, which I converted from the Orange Hobby 1/700 resin MK.6. Acually I got this photo seems taken at that time in Hong Kong, when Chatham was opened for a visit, you can find the gree Sea King on the deck quite clearly. In real life I believe the heli shall not be on the deck during her sailing back, but well, a small heli on the deck shall add some colour to the ship from modelling perspective. So it was glued there. As for the sea scape, let me explain by WIP pictures later.
  3. Thank you all! It's the Modelkasten metal rigging. It's the best quality rigging I have used, so easy to glue and very stable to hold its shape(because it's metal). It also gives the very natural curve effect due to its character(metal). Highly recommended! (Sorry their home page is only in Japanese.) Modelkasten rigging products Yufei
  4. So the most tiring part, rigging. In my view, to decide the turn/step+some patience will be the key to success. First step is to glue rigging on the mast. Then glue the mast onto the deck. And add vertical direction rigging around the mast. Next is gluing the rigging between 2 masts. Finally glue the climbing net PE parts. I tried to add more flags at first, but found the result is not satisfying(too noisy maybe). So I removed them. That's all for the WIP. I also uploaded a short video on Youtube as well: Flagship forever——1/700 HMS Victory 104-gun first-rate ship of the line Hope it may give you some inspiraton to challenge this small kit as well! Yufei
  5. The masts are all made up by brass rods. I welded them to increase strength. Masts are dried fitted on the deck, no glued. So we can paint it now! I used GSI Creos Mr. Color lacquar paint mostly. 5 deck colours are used to repliace the wooden deck, finished by brown enamel wash. Need to paint the wood yellow on black base colour. I hand brushed silver at first. Then paint the yellow, 3-5 times by a fine brush. All painting finished, ready for rigging. (Masts are not glued yet.) A really tiny model by 1/700 scale.
  6. Thank you all for your nice comments and encouragement! I believe the "big hand model" shall need even much higher modelling skill to finish! So here I also share some of the work in progress pictures. So I introdued, this is the 1/700 full resin kit by Artist Hobby, comes with a resin body, several photo-etching parts and bunch of brass rods with different diameters. As you can see most details are already molded on the one piece hull, including the guns/cannons. The casting blocks are located on the bottom of the hull, where there is also a big hole caused by air invation during casting I believe. So I fill he hole with CA and sanded it to flat, together with other small holes. Most PE parts can be glued before painting which will help to assure clean fitting to avoid additional glue. I measure the size of the ship once it's finished, to give the vendor an order to custom-build the show case for her.
  7. This is my first work finished in 2021, also the last work finished in the year of the rat. It's the 1/700 full resin kit released by Artist Hobby. I got the kit as a present from Artist Hobby boss so I tried to build it ASAP to appreciate his kindness. The kit quality is very high, I also tried to weld the 4 masts since they were all assembled by brass rods. Besides the small boats from Flyhawk, I used Northstar 1/700 sailor resin figures and Modelkasten 0.06mm metal rigging. HMS Victory just used up a whole full set of brand new metal rigging! Yes sailship rigging is indeed some nightmare... Overall I enjoyed the built and HMS Victory, the flagship forever of RN, has always been must for my RN collection and now one little dream comes true. Thanks for watching.
  8. Thank you all for your nice comments and encouragement! I recevied the ordered made wooden base and I took some photos. So this is the final look of this work. Hope you enjoy!
  9. OK guys, let me tell you the answer from quite reliable Japanese resource: 1/48 F-4 Phantom II Let's wait and see.
  10. Thank you so much! I changed the base and brass support as well, so took some new photos. Enjoy!
  11. Happy new year to every one and all the best to you and your family. This is the second one of the last 2 works I finished in 2020(another one is the HMS Yarmouth). This full resin kit is released by Orange Hobby back to more than 10 years ago. Because of the production aging, my kit had very serious part deformation for the hull and also shrinkage for upper contruction parts. So all PE parts cannot fit properlly which I had to cut them in pieces and combine those pieces one by one. I also used 5 nuts to force the curved hull to stick on the wooden base. Very tiring work over all but well, since it's the only 1/700 scale Type 22 Batch 3 in the town, I had no choice. Based on experience from HMS Yarmouth, this is the second sea sailing effect I made so I hope it may have some improvement. HMS Chatham left a very strong impression to me, when her escorted HMY Britannia withdrawing from Hong Kong on July 1st 1997. So I decided to make the model to memorize that historical moment. I understood some details may differ on the model compared with the real ship back to 1997, but since I did not have too much option parts to select, I decided to leave them as they were. I aso attach some photos when she was in Hong Kong in 1997. Thanks for watching! Yufei
  12. Happy new year to every one and all the best to you and your family. This is 1 of the last 2 works I finished in 2020(actually finished before midnight yesterday!). This full resin kit is released by a Chinese local small brand called Ostritch Model, which their boss sent me as a gift in this summer contest. So I built it with sea sailing scheme which is my very first time. It's really small model but I tried to catch some feeling and restore experience for sea sailing effect. Thanks for watching! Yufei
  13. Happy new year to every one and all the best to you and your family. And thanks so much for all the nice comment and encouragement! This ship model won 2nd prize in Shanghai New Year Modelling Contest today so it already said for itself. Actually I made the rigging, correct the camo pattern/color and some other small details based on my friend's work. So well, 70% work done by him and 30% by me, as to say. Yufei
  14. Thank you for the encouragement. Yes I would like to try 1/350 scale for this beautiful ship as well. Better in plastic injection kit. Happy new year to every one and all the best to you and your family. Yufei
  15. Thank you all for the nice comments and encouragement! A great honor for both my friend and myself thousands miles way in Shanghai. Yufei

  17. That's all. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the pictures! Greeting from Shanghai China. Yufei
  18. My new collection is here: a small diorama built by a friend Mr. Yang LIU, and modified by myself(adding figures, etc.). I selected HMS Edinburgh D97 to memorize my wonderful summer vocation in Edinburgh in 2017. (Have been a big fan of Scotland since then needless to mention the fabulous Scotch Whiskey!) Kit: Pit-road/Dragon 1/700 Accessories: BigBlueBoy photo-etching parts, Northstar resin figures, etc.
  19. As far as I heard there will be G and H, but no D or F(my favorite, pity). GWH 144 kits are mostly collaborate with their Japanese agent Pit-Road, which means most cases Pit-Road chose what to do and participate in the design work. I have played T1 parts of this kit and fitting was as good as always(cannot say accuracy since not a B-52 guy), especially it was quite impressive to get wing landing gears all stand on ground without any adjustment on wings. It will start selling on 11th Nov to meet the Chinese annual online shopping festival, and domestic retail price if I remember correctly is around USD20-25.-
  20. 5th work finished this year. Kit:Zvezda 7013 1/144 IL-62M Accesspries:Extratech IL-62 etching part Liveries Unlimited / Fundekals Air Koryo decal Home made 1/144 pilots(thanks my friend for resin cast copying) Base: Croastal Kits Display Base motion blur effect runway Building period: 26th April - 27th May, 2020 Replace the painting scheme of P-881 in 2013 which she was most seen in PEK. References: Online airliner photo websites: Airliners, Russianplanes, Feeyo & etc. Location of every decal is on the exactly correct place referring to real life photos. Thanks for watching. Yufei Mao
  21. Some work in progress pics. The resin part quality is OK but same as other full resin kit, the cutting and sanding work was some true hurdle. But that's just the begining, you also need to drill all location holes and insert brass rod, plus the location holes on main rocket body are all way too below. Not an shake and shack built, but some patience and love will bring you the definite best 1/144 R-7 rocket model. Thanks for watching. Yufei Mao
  22. The 4th work finished this year. Kit: New Ware 1/144 full resin kit Figure from Bandai 1/144 Real Grade Gunadm model kit with some modification work.
