  1. I put off buying this kit for a really long time as I saw the pictures shown above and felt that the helmet was really off from being screen accurate. However, after finally buying it, the helmet looks great in person and it seems like it doesn't photograph all that well. Painted, it looks really close to the real thing. Having said that, there are a great deal of problems with the rest of the kit. The cape needs replacing and the hasbro one from their black series figure isn't a great replacement as it comes with a really ugly and large chain. The inner cape is hard plastic and due to the design of the model can't be easily discarded for a soft goods option. I would say, this kit requires a lot of work to look good, not because of the helmet though. The recent 40th anniversary Vader from Hasbro's black series looks better than this kit and unless you want to pose it without the helmet, the new edition of the kit won't be any better.
  2. Thanks for the info about the use of resin parts I second what was said about using a bit of gloss to fix it. I had bad frosting once and a wet coat of heavily thinned gloss fixed it right up. I get what you are saying about how much work that kit is and wanting to give up. After the hundreds of hours I spent on my PG RX-178, I felt that way and like the painting and sanding would never end. I ended up finishing and have to say that it is the piece I am most proud of. So, based on what I have seen of your work so far, it is amazing and I really hope you finish it. Sometimes taking a break from a kit and building another before coming back can help relieve burnout as well. Best of luck and hope you figure out how to fix your paint job!
  3. Hi, can I ask you a question about using the resin upgrades? I ordered some myself and am wondering how you attach them to the rest of the kit. Do they snap on like regular gundam parts or do you need to pin or glue them? Thanks! Love the build!
