  1. I'm not always a fan of heavy weathering (mostly because I haven't got the skill to do it well) but this really looks the part. You can just about smell the burnt kerosene. Lovely job on an iconic aircraft. Sad story, though.
  2. Very nice! I need to add a Lightning to my shelf, but have been nervous about the silver finish. This is very encouraging. Thanks for the boost!
  3. That is very handsomely done. Superb finish.
  4. Certainly, praise for WnW kit is due, but you have done it proud! Another shedful of wows from me.
  5. Absolutely cracking paintwork. Love RN Corsairs. Thanks for sharing
  6. That looks really nice. I have not had a lot of success with EZ Line, but I think that has more to do with me than the product. Practice makes perfect, as you have demonstrated.
  7. Hard to believe that's a 1/72 cockpit. I had to go back and check the scale on the box! Nice work.
  8. Sorry if my appreciation came off as lukewarm. I wasn't intending to be mean-spirited at all. I think you did a smashing job on the build (better than what I could do). Perhaps I can make amends by starting a new paragraph to unreservedly compliment your Land Rover conversions. You have struck a chord there, as I like nothing better than a Series I or II, and those are bang on! The colours are perfect, and the conversion is remarkable, especially to the Series I. Those must have been a lot of work, and I can see why you were looking for something a little less daunting. When I am done my G-HUEY, I will post so you can tell me where I fouled up. Cheers, Biggles BTW, Algy and Ginger are fine!
  9. Marvellous work. I did not know there was a kit of the Lightning I without the turbochargers. I need to get one of these, as I particularly like foreign types operated by the British armed forces, and I don't think my skills are up to converting a later variant. Thanks for showing what can be done with what sounds like a tricky kit.
  10. Let me start by saying you've done a nice job on a really interesting subject. I am working on the same aircraft but in 1/72. I haven't figured out how I am going to do the registration yet. I'm not at all sure the final product will be Britmodeller-worthy. Since I have been doing some research on this particular subject, I hope I may be permitted to respectfully observe a couple of small inaccuracies. You appear to have placed the aircraft in the Falklands, where indeed it was captured. However, it did not receive the registration "G-HUEY" until after it arrived in Britain. In the Falklands it bore the hand painted registration "AE 413". The white "UK" on the green band was also hand painted in the Falklands, and only tidied up in Britain. G-Huey has small Argentinian flags on the vertical tail. Lastly, G-HUEY is a variant that does not have the narrow window in the hinged door forward of the sliding side doors. Still, I think it's a great subject, and a nice depiction.
  11. I just commented on your lovely Hawker P1081, and here is another beautiful aircraft the could have been. Gorgeous build and finish on a Canadian aviation dream. Thanks for placing her at CFB Comox here in British Columbia, once again home to the Royal Canadian Air Force!
  12. Well now, you learn something every day. I was not familiar with the P1081, but I must say it is a handsome aircraft. Very clearly a Hawker design (love those wing root inlets). The F-86 is a pretty bird in itself, and quintessentially American, but it seems a pity that the Aussie's did not go with this one. Might have come up with a more evocative name than "Cyclone" but we will never know. Nicely executed model of a very interesting subject, Mr. Womby.
  13. Superb work! I am particularly interested in captured aircraft, and these are beautifully done. Where did you find the colour schemes?
