  1. Looks superb Alistair. Lovely hss finish which I haven't dared try ....... yet. Admirable, as usual. Niall
  2. Thanks Alistair - appreciate your kind words, and thanks for following the build. Still can't decide what to build next so might take a short break from the dangers of sharp instruments and solvent fumes..... Niall
  3. A beauty. Looks sinister and well used. Thanks for letting us see it. Q
  4. .......I think it did! Lovely. How was this big kit to build?? I've heard differing opinions.... Q
  5. Great build and finished to perfection. Super figures photos really add to the atmosphere. Q
  6. Agree totally. If only there was time to build everything of interest!
  7. Thanks. I tried new things doing this - like the intake and exhaust FOD covers. Fairly pleased overall. Thanks - I really wanted something a bit different for this build, instead of the usual Paveways. I'm saving that for the Airfix Buccaneer S.2B when it's released. Thanks - glad you like it. Very kind Stephen - thank you. Thanks - it took about 18 months but that's mainly because I'm lazy!! Thanks FB. I'm going for the pink Buccaneer as soon as it's released! Loved your Red Arrows Lightning by the way. F731s???? I thought they were beer tabs or bookie slips! Thanks for your generous words - appreciated. Thank you - I benefited from reading several previous builds here on BM. Now that it's built, I could probably do a neater job if I built it again - part of the fun is that I'm always learning. Thanks SV - glad you like it. Thanks for your generous comment - yes, I've got a soft spot for the RAF pink era too. Q
  8. A really fine job, especially the tricky mottling which looks spot on to me. Congrats. Q
  9. Nice. That's a seriously eye catching scheme. Be proud. Q
  10. Thanks to everybody who followed along during this slow build - I like to get my money's worth out of each kit and make it last!! A bit like playing golf - if I'd paid to play a round of golf I'd want to get good value and play as many strokes as possible! Anyway - thanks for looking in good people - your interest is greatly appreciated. This is from the 1/48 Revell Tornado GR.4 "Farewell" boxing, which contains all of the bits for a GR.1. Just choose the appropriate spine, leave off the under-chin FLIR, and retain both nose cannon. I wanted to arm the machine with Alarm missiles, just for something a bit different, but this limited the airframes I could model - as you can see I chose ZD746 AB "Alarm Belle." Aftermarket stuff included Kits World transfers - not much choice available for a 1/48 Gulf Tornado. The Alarms and Sidewinders are Brassin - lovely additions and far better than I deserve. Cockpit uses the Eduard Look set but the only parts actually used were the instrument panels - certainly better than I could paint. Seats are CMK, ladder is by LP models. Background additions are Flightpath. WIP is here. Anyway - enough prevarication - I suppose pictures are expected........ 97a by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 97c by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 98a by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 98b by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 99 by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 100 by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 101 by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 104 by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 106 by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 107 by Dr. Quack, on Flickr Thanks for taking the time to look - and thanks to everybody who followed the build in progress, and tolerated my ramblings. Please feel free to comment / advise / make suggestions - all comments and questions welcomed. Next problem is to decide what to build next.......help! I can't decide. Choice is all 1/48 - Italeri Hawk T1 (It has to be black!), Airfix Lightning F.6, Kinetic Sea Harrier FRS.1 or Airfix Canberra PR.9 That's the choice cos that's what I have in my stash. Maybe I'll have to let Colin decide for me. Best to all. Keep Calm and mangle plastic! Q
  11. Thanks - appreciated. Many thanks Alistair. Not sure what to do next....maybe I'll let Colin decide! RFI Will be posted up sometime soon, when I have some time. Niall
  12. Watching this with great interest - what a great start. Thanks for including the background information about recce over the Baltic - it has been very informative and sets the background beautifully. Niall
  13. Lovely build @Pappy. And the blurred base gives a very convincing impression of speed - is it from Coastal Kits?? Excellent result. Q
  14. Thank you Andre. Most kind. The diorama is really just a bit of a layout with little real attempt at realism, but I had fun with some Flightpath goodies - I learned a bit about photoetch and learned never to try soldering cast metal!! Thanks @corsaircorp. Very generous of you. Q
  15. Congratulations. It put up a fight, but you showed it who's boss. Impressive result. Q
  16. Chapter 14 In which Quack Calls it Done and looks for something New to do Calling this done folks. A couple of pics to round things off, and I'll post up an RFI in due course. 97a by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 97c by Dr. Quack, on Flickr 104 by Dr. Quack, on Flickr Now to look through my stash for another project - It'll probably take about a month to get into the dungeons where my stash is stored given that it's guarded by Colin, the Lovecraftian nightmare I created with my Fisher-Price My-First-Genetic-Manipulation-Kit. A horrific creature with hunting and killing instincts tuned to a fearful degree, intended to guard us from the Village mob, with their pitchforks and flaming torches. Unfortunately they have discovered Colin's weakness for medium rare Sirloin with a nice red Rioja, and now he just sits on the drawbridge drooling, and wagging his tails whenever they approach. For some reason, though, he has developed an intense dislike for me, even though I bring him ample supplies of steak, and read him bedtime stories. Turns his nose up at my cheap plonk, and barely lets me near even after I've soothed him with the Rhino tranquilliser dart. Anyway, that's it for another build. Next up will be 1/48 EE Frightening, or maybe Hawk T1, or...... who knows?? It'll need to be a quick in-out of the stash dungeon, while Colin's in a good mood - he's smiling ................. at least I think he's smiling Thanks for bearing with me. Keep calm and mangle plastic Q
  17. Great build - thanks for including the research info too - very informative, and added to my appreciation of the build. Q
  18. A fascinating bit of whiffery there, Alistair, complemented by a super build and a tricky scheme. Nice one. Q
  19. As I recall the seat belts and gun sight are fairly visible with an open canopy. I used the Eduard belts and Aerocraft gun sight for mine. The ip and sidewalls are much less noticeable. Pics here. Niall.
  20. As do I. I rarely attach them to a handle, though - I'm rather ham-fisted and tend to end up with twisted, kinked or distorted blades.....I find that they are perfectly safe to handle unmounted and allow for fine accurate cutting. I think mine were by Airwaves.... https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AEM008?result-token=3X9CR Q
  21. Looking the business now. Keep up the good work. Q
  22. Great build again Alistair. She turned out beautifully. Q
