Just as a heads-up, here are some of the forthcoming evolving models: FLYING BEDSTEAD You can add so much more detail with CAD and 3D printing. 747 MULTI-VARIANT (YES 1:72) AEC MANDATOR This kit has now gone through three iterations in design, but is now finally in test build, prior to delivery, Retirement - not likely..... I find that I get as much pleasure out of my CAD as I did in the days of physical modelling. Mainly because we can produce pretty much anything which appeals - a nice situation to have.

This is the first I have heard of my retirement - I had a spell in hospital, but there are still many models I would like to see. In fact all three of us had problems of one kind or another. High on the list is a 3D printed version of the Valiant B2 conversion. We have just delivered another batch of models to Hannants, and the next delivery should be in August, but that is a kit equal to the Argus in complexity.

We have just produced 3D printed versions of two previously etched brass/resin kits, plus new kits of the F-59 series of tractors. The MD300 was actually the very first CAD designed model produced in 2010 - there is no real comparison between the two versions - I believe that this is the most detailed tractor we have produced to date, although the F-59N tractor/fire engine does take some beating. We routinely produce 1:72 and 1:48 versions of each kit. All these photographs are of the 1:48 versions, but the level of detail is the same in both scales as they are produced from the same CAD files. As always, these models are available from Hannants, of Lowestoft. One other recent improvement is that glazing material is now supplied in the kits,where appropriate. It is on the list, but we want to get the Mandator out first. Changing all our products over (i.e. redesigned) for 3D printing is a major project.

After a long silence, I hope to deliver v-bomber crew figures to Hannants in a couple of weeks (early December, 2021). We have already supplied six figures in protective clothing for defuelling Blue Steel. Mandator production starts in December - delay was due to experiments in 3D printing transparent parts, combined with changes in personnel.

If you are going to build the cab using clear resin, I suggest that you do it in three parts: right plus back, left plus front, and the roof.. That is how I have done our Mandator cab, but orientation is critical to avoid striations or build lines. Also clear panes don't want to be too thick. Hope this helps.

Yes, Watchkeeper is planned to be 1:72, 1:48 and 1:35 (as is Mandator & Blue Steel bomb trolley. Of course we will need to do a 1:35 Blue Steel missile). As an aside,I collected the first test sets of figure for the Blue Steel servicing crew, in their protective suits this morning in all three scales (six figures, including one with a hose pipe nozzle).

No chance - there have been multiple kits (Google shows about six manufacturers kits) in the past so not a good commercial prospect. I would rather do an Avro Bison or Short Seamew or Sturgeoon, if I wanted to add something else to my already long list of projects. I already have Carvair, Ambassador, Hermes and HP42 to work on.

I have just received an email from Hannants - we don't have any spares at present, so I have sent a pdf file with the instruction as an interim. Hard copy will follow when it is produced.

I have just about finished the design, and thought it would be nice to include the tow bar and support vehicle. So here are two screen shots. On another subject - we have had to relocate our print farm and this has disrupted deliveries of further Blackburn kits, together with the Mandator (which was just about to be released). Production will resume soon.
