  1. Looks great so far...got one of these in the stash, so I'm watchin'....
  2. I was lucky enough to view this model in completed form, in the flesh, at last nights Romsey Modellers club meeting (Pete travelled down and did an excellent talk for us on his weathering techniques ) The photo's don't do it justice - the chipped and weathered finish is simply superb.
  3. Hi guys, It's been sometime since I posted a completed model on here, and thats because I've been working on this project. Here's the real thing.. I used the Renaissance TK with S27 20005/6 M1 etch and assorted details from Top Studio, Hobby Design and Tuner Model Factory. The big decision with this build was to paint the livery rather than use the decals, which would have presented a number of problems which would have affected the finished result. I was keen to get all of the blue areas to match and so after a couple of false starts I decided to paint 90% of the livery. the only decal areas are under the tail and on the sides of the tank - on which I also painted the thin light blue strip to match everything else. Here's a few build pics.. The TK... The painting begins...I used Zero paints exclusively... The finished scheme with decals and clear..I used the Museum Collection sheet too for some of the markings... Finished model... A full wip can be found on the SPC bike forum, and build reports can be found in the Romsey Modellers Magazine for May 2009 and prior to that, now available to download free here.. Romsey Modeller Magazine Comments and critiques welcome.
  4. Thanks. The S4 is a transkit for the Hasegawa 037 made by Japanese rally modeller extraodinaire, Kengo Nishi. He did a limited run on these offering both Martini and Jolly Club decals. I believe the bodyshell was a corrected Modellers version. I picked it up for.....£40! Bargain!! You can find a build up report on the Romsey Modellers website - have a look under 'builds'. The link is in my signature.
  5. Looks like I could be in - I'm in the middle of another bike, which should be finished to coincide with the start of this one. I'm likely to do the Alitalia Stratos to add to my Lancia collection....
  6. Oh yes - forgot that one, and I happen to have the kit!! Decals are no good though. Didn't S27 do some a while back?? Otherwise that leaves....the Stratos and MkII Escort in Vatanen or Mikkola colours... GpB would have been good - I have an ex-Pat Watson Diabolique RS200 that needs finishing.
  7. What an absolutely brilliant idea!!! I might be able to do this one. Shame your not allowing GpB...
  8. Beautiful work Spence. I love the subtley of the paint job/weathering.
  9. Superb looking model Ian - the etch wheels are a must judging by the look of the kits ones. Very nice....
  10. Excellent work...you don't see many of them built..
  11. HLJ has it in stock....£36.00, complete with pre painted etch figures. Sounds great until you read that shipping to the UK will be £32.45 by SAL!! R.M.S Lusitania
  12. Hannants have them in stock, but no pic.... 1/350th Passengers.. WEM have em too... WEM have em slightly cheaper.... I'm building another bike at the moment - a #46 2007 Yamaha M1 - hopefully it'll be in the Assen colours if i can colour match the decals....but it might be in the regular Fiat white/blue scheme. I'll get a thread up on here as soon as..
  13. Hi Doc, Great to see a car guy having a stab at something different. I too have this project in mind for the future - 2012 in fact, the 100th anniversary year. She'll be built in 2011 though as I think I'll need a year! Building an accurateish Titanic is quite a task. I've the same kit, mine was part started for £25 - but got loads of turn and etch parts that were'nt even mentioned in the ebay ad. The TMRA site is a must for anyone considering this project and the suberb rivet counter guide is based on the Academy kit. I pleased to read you building her waterline, she looked awesome in the water at steam. Will you be planning to populate the deck? Eduard do some prepainted 350th 1920's figures now. The wreck models are good too - there's a good one contained in the forum whos' name escapes me, but he's done both the bow and stern sections. Worth a look if you haven't already. I haven't posted on here for sometime - but this project has got me interested again. Good luck.
  14. So, just finished this one last weekend and thought I'd post my first completed model on here.. This is Tamiya's 1/12th kit, built mainly from the box. I used Zero Ducati red for the main colour, and various Zero, Alclad, Halfords, Tamiya and Humbrol paints elsewhere.... Here's a few during build up... And completion... Hope you like it..
  15. Love the use of the Yamaha M1 MotoGP paint!! I've looked through your other posts.....you're very good. Inspirational. It's great to see something different being built. I have a 1/100th MG Z'Gok in my collection to build..
  16. Looks much better with the wash on. I haven't seen this version of the GT40 built before, looks good in this simple scheme.
  17. Great work Doc, love the chassis and engine, very nice work. Any updates??
  18. Hi Russ, I'm sorry to read that you have had problems with the build, however I'm not surprised to read, yet again, of another modeller suffering the dreaded TS13 disasters...I've lost count how many times... This stuff is just to hot for decals...probably only any good decanted and airbrushed. For a decal safe clearcoat from the can use Mr Hobby Topcoat. It never fails. Mr Hobby Topcoat Also, if you want to do the Graziano bike, the decals are available on the Studio 27 decal sheet for the '79 transkit..They have the essential '22's and the 'G Rossi' for the fairing.... Rossi decals.. HTH, Paul
  19. Thanks Darren, Very useful pics. I received 3 WEM colours through the post today, including the DDG. It looks spot on compared with the colour chip and these last pics. Thanks to everyone for their help.
