  1. I built this kit an few years back and used Zero Ducati Rosso red....looks about right to me. Damn good kit. The white number board's do bleed a little, I doubled up on mine. Hopefully my pics might help a little.
  2. I think it's fantastic news - a decent MK1 Escort in plastic is sooooo overdue, it's hard to believe a good one hasn't been done before. I'm pleasantly surprised too, you'd easily think they'd just go for something from the WRC era. The MK1 Escort is a classic though and will offer many options for builders. Roger Clark's Uniflo RAC winner anyone?? Got to be done! Given the quality of their previous releases, I'm sure it will sell well, if only to the older enthusiast. Steve is right though, a Mk2 is also needed as the Esci/Revell one is shocking.
  3. The Fiat sponsored bikes (2007-2010) were all pearl white including the US 'faces' version.
  4. Fantastic work Jorgen, and an interestng subject.
  5. Congratulations Jorgen on the model and your success in competition at the weekend. Looking through your build threads, it comes as no surprise and is much deserved. Your wip of this fantastic Profil 24 kit will become as reference point for many attempting to recreate this beautiful car in miniature, including me. You've solved many of the small issues, improved the cockpit no end and nailed the colour. Brilliant job.
  6. Wonderful work....Love the Alien series of films.....there was some great looking ships, monsters, guns, vehicles etc....please keep exercising your obsession...! I have the Geometrics Alien figure kit somewhere...does look superb...
  7. Dave, I agree - the footage and the photographs from the time certainly indicate the vehicle wasn't showroom when it arrived at Daytona - so to some extent Jorgen's model is too glossy compared to the finish seen on some of the close-ups....there's some sort of weathered streaking on the rear fin - and in some shots the car almost looks matt in finish... It's a shame that between 1929 and 1958 the car was neglected, I understand the engine was a non runner when it was handed over to Beaulieu....Would I be correct in assuming that some restoration was done on her before her appearance at Goodwood in 1960?? I read that Beaulieu were attempting to source a replacement engine around 10 years ago..I guess that didn't happen. I love Jorgen's last shot....
  8. Wow - just jawdropping... I thought that piece was odd.....the etch towing eye looks like it's off a modern car to me - from the research I've done so far I've only seen the steel wire loop in the middle of the nose... ** I'll amend that - on the video you posted you can see it on the front during the first test run....at 8.18 Paul
  9. That happened to a friend of mine recently - I expect the hardener has gone off.... Lovely work Jorgen, I see the benefit of the weathering more so now....the tyres look perfect to my eye, it really brings the model alive. Are you planning to put this on a sand base?? My kit arrived from Profil 24 yesterday - it is a stunner; I wasn't prepared for how big it was....It really will grab the attention when complete.
  10. The weathering is really starting to look the business Jorgen, superb...... Those following this build may be interested in these photos I found of another Golden Arrow build, except this one is the Scalekraft kit.... http://public.fotki.com/Rockinroller/plastic/irving-napier-golde/
  11. Thanks Jorgen, That makes sense now - a cover over the wire wheel... of course! ...I agree, the edge must be very narrow given it's not visible on the footage easily... I plan to visit Beaulieu soon ( I live about 30 miles away) - so I'll make a point of photographing the windscreen to clear the matter up....looks like 00X or OOK something...AP??
  12. This is looking so beautiful...... What ever was written on the side of the cockpit windscreen - which appears to be highlighted with paint in the video footage from 1929 - is still there on the Beaulieu 'version' as can be seen on this link posted earlier in your thread. The letters are cast into the part (well appear to be??).... http://picasaweb.google.com/113902400204777441765/GOLDENARROW#5554172093603202898 I'm curious....you've painted the wheels with the black edge, as it's seen today, yet the 1929 footage doesn't show this as far as I can make out??
  13. I've been following this thread for some time now and you are certainly making a superb job of this kit....excellent, methodical approach and some great decision making...looks like it'll be a stunning replica when finished.
  14. Having had the chance to look at the model in the flesh at our club night on Wednesday night, I can vouch for how good it is - exquisite piece of work Tony, and hats off to Airfix for another stunning kit.
  15. I meant to ask before, did you use Zero MP4 red? Not sure what the kit instructions say, but it was likely that the inside of the main fairing was carbon black or painted black, as seen here on Lawson's 1990 bike.... I have this kit in the stash, and having just been released in Japan,it arrived last week, so you do build very quickly.......!
  16. 2K scare mongering aside (lets not even start on scalpels and glues.......!), that's a very nice bike biuld Spence - though you may want to paint the tyre valves the correct colour....
  17. I've been watching this thread for a few weeks now and I must say how impressed I am with the quality of painting and weathering. Simply inspiring!! Like many other comments, if I can get mine half as good as this I'll be more than happy. I'm interested to know how you did the demarcation line on the camo?? I couldn't see that in the build photos. Great build.
  18. The more I see of this kit, the more I'm looking forward to doing one. I just got one via HLJ at £53....!! ..... I love to see weathering done really well, and your's is excellent. The groundwork is very good too. I wouldn't be too critical of your pics, the first and third are nice, good angle, good depth of field, lighting could be better, but it shows of your hardwork very well. Just practice. I hope mine turns out half as good. Brilliant model.
  19. I don't pretend to be an expert on the Falcon, but your build looks spot on to me. It has the right feel. Excellent painting and weathering job...and if I didn't know it was the 144th kit, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was the 72nd, which demonstrates the quality of this smaller version. It looks like it has 900 parts! Superb job Mike. I've loved following the biuld up too. Very informative.
  20. Loving that - weathering has already added some nice depth to the finish. Decal colours to about right too which is good news if you don't want to mask each panel off for paint. Still waiting for mine to arrive....
  21. This is looking very nice Mike - good call on the base colour, not far off at all. With the paint on you wouldn't know it was 1/144th. The Falcon sure is an attractive vessel.
  22. Great review Mike - Top marks. I have one on it's way from HLJ...and I have the 1/72nd version...now worth about £300..I might just hang on to that rather than biuld it and do this one, which will fit in my cabinet too.
  23. Damn that's good. I look forward to seeing it at the Salisbury show.
