  1. Nice! Drawings look good but that doesn't mean much, I know. At last I can stop hoping for Tamiya rereleasing their 1:48 OH-6!
  2. Wow, magnificent accomplishment on this apparently dog of a kit! The Mi-6 was on my maybe- list for some time but now I skipped it. I have never been able to finish an A model kit and have tried my share of them. This kit definitely needs someone with your patience and perseverance. Your results on the cockpit and cabin- walls are spot on, I'll be following this one with interest, keep up the good work!!
  3. Wow you just saved my day there NavyWessex, thank you for the reply!!
  4. Yes I noticed that but hoped that I had looked in the wrong places. The end of the company would be a real shame: DreamModel was the one company that kept my dreams alive for maybe some new models of civil helicopter types. Their Dauphin was a pleasant surprise and I could not wait for the -61N. Well, I guess I will have to start saving to buy some of the left over Whirlybird Sikorsky's.
  5. Yes, something 'new' from the 1:200 department: a 767-200 again at last, nice!
  6. Respect!! I started the kit but did not manage to get the windows to fit. You did an outstanding job on it!
  7. Hi HP, just stumbled over this thread and I am curious if you've found the courage to continue the build? I started building more than a dozen of these 135- kits and only three reached the finishing stage. I think this actual kit has caused several young would-be- modellers to not pick up modelling as a hobby. The subject and the price would be perfect for a beginning modeller but as you discovered, it takes an experienced modeller to overcome the difficulties and design stupidities that plague this kit. I am impressed by your results so far; the model is already looking better than my finished kits! One more thing for one of the next steps: the Revell landing gear is wrong. Not only does it sit too low, but you also need to shorten the frontal part of the skids. I hope you will finish this build, good luck!!
  8. Magnificent work so far. Kudos for putting Dominic in the light! I was always curious about the Aoshima kit. As a younger lad I built several 1/ 48 ERTL/ AMT/ Hobbycraft Bell 222. Very rude and clunky kit only vaguely resembling a 222 after a thorough sanding. The Aoshima looks a lot better. Btw: beautiful story about you watching the real Airwolf. Your description on its sound and looks is awesome!!! Made me feel like I was there.
  9. I have trouble understanding the construction drawings of the kit. I can see that parts go together but their exact placement remains vague. Busy with the cockpit and it remains unclear wether the aft bulkhead is perpendicular to the part with the seats on it. Also not clear how to mount the cockpit floor to the lower front part of the helicopter (the fairing below the windows). Also the positioning 'pins' look wrong to me, anyway, I can't get the seat back cushions around their positioning parts. I started sanding off most of the positioning pins/ parts. I know this won't clarify much and I'm not able tot post pics. Don't get me wrong: my gratefulness for an S-300 kit at last comes close to rabies, and I don't mean to bad mouth AMP's work. Guess I'll just have to wait for someone elses Work In progress post on this.
  10. Err,... anyone already started building this kit? I did and I must admit that I am already stalling at the assembly of the cockpit parts... 😬
  11. Same here! I remember a reply from mr Evans of the late Whirlybirds who stated that for a small company like Whirlybirds starting up the design of an AW139 kit was too risky when there's still a chance that the 139 would be realeased by a big manufacturer like Revell or Italeri. In the current modelling market I would guess that this risk is no longer there with Italeri nor Revell venturing into new helicopter kits. I would (love to) put my money on DreamModel, having released a very nice Dauphin and other helicopter kits, and planning to release the S-61N.

  13. Best results I had were with Experts-Choice Clear Decal Film. AMS in the Netherlands used to have these in stock until recently, and I cannot get a hold of them now unfortunately. Second best to me is Testors Decal Paper, which has also better availability here in the Netherlands. Too bad Testors comes in smaller page size, A5. After years of experimenting I still keep searching for the best results and you don't want to know the loads of failed attempts I had and which costed me loads of decal paper. It struck me more than once that print quality can differ considerably between two consecutive prints, while using the same paper and printer settings. This is what makes printing my own decals a sometimes rewarding but often frustrating (and expensive!) part of the hobby. Hope to find more advice here!
  14. My thoughts exactly. 1:35 is close to ridiculous. I'm in the Netherlands. If more than two people here would buy this kit, we would have to invade Belgium to find the space to display them.
  15. 😆That was my first thought too when I read Zell!
  16. Nice, one more obstacle out of the way for DreamModel to release their S.61-N.😇
  17. Funny: this comes as no surprise. I have wondered for years how on earth Revell could maintain their low prices. Italeri prices went through the roof, and EE gets close to theft (I know: people still buy them...), so pricewise there still is no reason for me not to buy Revell kits. I am dissapointed though at the lack of Revell new releases.
  18. Hm. Still not tempted to buy anything from EE. Do hope though that Authentic Airliners will re-release their 188. Nowadays it will probably be the less expensive alternative!
  19. My thoughts exactly Jon! The release policy of some model manufacturers has an astonishing similarity to my style of modelling: I start a new kit almost every week but most of them still have to be finished... Gertjan
  20. Shoot! I pre ordered one at Aviation Megastore and just noticed that they expect the kit mid october...
  21. Exactly. One can also find a TopGun 1:48 Bell Long Ranger on Scalemates that never saw the light of day.
  22. Sorry for the late reply, but Braz also did a 1/144 ATL conversion for the Minicraft DC-4.
  23. Nice!!! I see some alterations compared to the earlier Attack Squadron version. I don't think we will ever see the release of a Bell 407, so this is as close as it will get. I experimented on the Attack Squadron kit; sprayed it red, brush painted the window surfaces (beautifully scribed on the kit!) black and when I look at it from some distance with squinted eyes, it's a civil 407 to me!😇
  24. Magnificent build! Especially on this kit, which imho is a pain to build. Mine didn't turn out half as nice. Congratulations!
