  1. Assuming that the undersides are black, perhaps you could print your own on white decal paper using a black background for the grey markings…? Then trim as close to the markings as you dare and the black should blend in with the paintwork. Cheaper than getting bespoke ones printed, I suspect. Nige
  2. Sorry to hear that, Brian - it can be frustrating to miss out in such a way, especially if the final price is less than you are prepared to pay (it’s happened to me before). Although I would say that the Matchbox Hawk 200 isn’t the most accurate model in the world… Nige
  3. What’s it going to be, Brian? T1, T1A, T2, Hawk 200…?
  4. Really enjoyed the show. Some fabulous models on display - many of which have been seen on this forum; it was great to see them “in the flesh”, as it were… Nige
  5. It was a pleasure to see this model (including completed generator cart) at the Farnborough show today - it looks fantastic in “real life”… Nige
  6. That’s a pain… I do wish colours could be accurate/consistent…
  7. Some work had been done on the Spitfires before I was struck down with the lurgi. The second fuselage has been buttoned up; much filling was required. Elevators had the trim tabs scribed in and the actuators added from stretched sprue. Second rudder with the trim tab filed in. Replacement cowling added (this one didn't fit quite so well, possibly because the fuselage was marginally wider (presumably I didn't file away enough of the joint before closing it up)). Filling and filing needed... Wings on the second fuselage - you can see the revised bulge over the wheel well (an amorphous blob in the wrong position on the original kit). Close up of the aileron and tab actuators added to the wing - from heat stretched half-round strip. The canopies (looking as if they were carved from a Fox's Glacier Mint, as memorably suggested by an earlier contributor). These have been micro-meshed and dipped in Klear, and actually don't look so bad... Both models have today had a "witness coat" of primer - the scribing shows up quite well (if nothing else, I've learned to quite enjoy the process during this build). It also shows far too many seam lines, rough bits, gaps... Still got radiators to add to the second airframe, a second pair of undercarriage legs to create, wheels to tidy up, and a full set of exhausts to piece together for each. Finally, I am aware that the propellers as provided in the kit, apart from being a bit crude, are also too small. I thought I'd found some ideal replacements (Aeroclub) but they are also too small (I believe they were intended for Mk XIVs - the Mk 22 propeller was bigger). I do have a Freightdog replacement for my Airfix Mk22, so I will compare them and see if the difference is REALLY noticeable - after all, if I was building a truly accurate Mk 22 I wouldn't start with a Pegasus kit... Not sure what happens next - I fully intend to complete these but presumably will have to start a new thread in the Aircraft WIP? Nige
  8. Sadly I have to admit defeat in my attempt to get these over the line, despite the extension. I came down with a rather unpleasant viral infection which knocked me flat for almost ten days; even though I'm fully recovered now, there were quite a few household jobs which needed attention ahead of "playing with toys", as Mrs G termed it... Photos to follow once my "helper" stops stomping all over the keyboard... Nige
  9. Another classy looking livery… really enjoying these, Brian. Nige
  10. Innovative idea, Brian - I must remember that one for the future. And it’s a great excuse for some fast food! Nige
  11. Missed this until now. Nice job, Peter. The Sevans vac-forms were fantastic for their time and are still capable of being made into great models, as you’ve shown here (and there are some other awesome builds to be found elsewhere on this site). They are still highly sought after, as witnessed by some of the eye-watering prices that they go for on certain online auction sites… Nige
  12. Quickboost do some quite nice resin replacement radiators (designed for the Fujimi kit but they’ll fit the Frog with some fettling ). The radiators on the Academy kit have strangely angled sides due to the way they are moulded integrally with the wing, IIRC… Nige
  13. Yeah, yeah - but you can’t tell us that you’re never going to add to it!
  14. The majority of the bits in the middle look very much like one of the Eastern European repops of the Frog mkXIV - the giveaway is the stand part which was designed to take the aircraft and the V1 doodlebug which was included with the original kit, and the rather poor decal sheet for AP*D. Nige
  15. 5.... 4.... 3.... ahem... Really nice job . Took me back to my childhood (and that's a VERY long way...). Nige
