  1. Ditto for 1/144: apart from a very rough-looking Japanese resin kit I can't find anything
  2. No apology necessary: it did make me have a chuckle and no harm done. Looked nice by the way
  3. This arrived yesterday: when I finally kick the bucket I will be buried in the box:
  4. Hi, some good info above from @72modeler, @Tony Edmundson and @Corey in Colorado. I'd go for the Eduard kit: lots of extras and no doubts you'd be getting the correct wing. I am bamboozled by the configurations of kits, with some claiming to be Sabre 6s when they are narrow-chord F-86Fs and others claiming to be Korean War F-86Fs then you find they have F-40 wings. I bought the Academy F-86F (kit 2162) years ago and it is indeed on a par with Hasegawa. It also had the correct wing but I'm not sure if it was reissued with a different number as an F-86F-40. Also note that the aircraft only had the dragon painted on the port/LH side; some decal sheets incorrectly have it both sides.
  5. Really want to see this in Ocado home delivery colours.
  6. No FJ-4 or 4Bs were stricken for anything other than Stateside accidents (NARTU) or by scrapping at Alameda or Litchfield Park in 1962. It's yet another attempt to re-write history by someone who thinks it can't be disproven. Like the XP-86 going Mach 1 before Yeager.
  7. IIRC Kitty Hawk provided markings for a ROKAF F-86D in its 1/32 kit. They were neat-looking machines with Sidewinders too:
  8. Lovely job! One minor point: those Sidewinders shouldn't be there! I'm sure most won't notice though.
  9. SEA F-86D was at a museum but ended up on a range in (South Carolina?). And I suspect the canopy on the FJ-2 was smashed or went missing at some point, so they did what they could. That one was at a trailer park in California and was rescued by an aircraft dismantler but has since disappeared. Maybe one day it will reappear. Flying. Love the links: all good here! Hope you too are all good.
  10. I looked into the FJ-4 above and the photo was taken at Lockport AF Station, NY on 2 September 1976. Lockport was a radar station and part of the SAGE network when that was running. It closed in 1979. OK so I promised some "aircraft pretending to be other aircraft" and here's a few: So first of all an F-86D in SEA camouflage: And an F-86F pretending to be an FJ-4B: And FJ-4s pretending to be MiGs: An FJ-2 pretending to be an FJ-3 (you might get away with that one): And a CAC Sabre 32 pretending to be an FJ-3: A Sabre 5 pretending to be an F-86A: An FJ-2 painted as an F-86F: F-86A being a MiG: And finally, an F-86A disguised as an F-117 Stealth Fighter: Happy cabin fever!
  11. Lovely job! I like the look of those tanks too. 👍
  12. Yes it's spurious; can't recall the location but an F-86L also received similar colours. Plus there was an F-86F marked as an FJ-4 at one point; and a CAC Sabre 32 marked as an FJ-3. Oh and an FJ-2 marked as an F-86F! In fact I think I may dig out some photos and post them.
  13. Go for it - it's a lovely kit. Instructions are vague (at best) but yiu can work it out. I'm doing the COW Gun Fighter next!
  14. Hopefully these will be of use. First off the F-86F-40 slat tracks & part numbers: Then F-86H equivalents (different PNs): And verification that the wing sweep changed with the 6-3 & F-40 wing on F-86H (highlighted): And a narrow-chord diagram showing various dimensions: note what appears to be a leading-edge sweep shown as well (you'd need to re-calculate for 6-3): Some wing/leading edge stuff from the F-86H Structural Repair Manual: Fuselage and wing Stations: And finally wing skin materials; should help when painting NMF: Enjoy!
  15. Will have a look. For info, the 'castellated' part is a hinge line; the leading edge is retained by circa 18 SWG hinge wire top & bottom, as with many aircraft (C-130 for example).
  16. Wing sweep does change with addition of the 6-3 wing since the 25% chord line also moves; by 1.5 inches at the root and 0.75 inches at the tip. The change is stated in numerous NAA documents and not a recent error. NAA also make a point of stating that the sweep is at 25% chord, so any leading edge statements are recent mis-interpretations. I did a post on leading edges a while back, which I shall post a link to if I can find it.
  17. Yet again I'm left wondering if the incremental improvement is worth the effort? The IBG kit looks incredible and from what I've seen, BitsKrieg has really struggled to improve any of it.
  18. Well this is my second lockdown completion, which is two more than I finished in 2019! It's Karaya's lovely 1/48 Martinsyde Buzzard, finished 100% OOB. On the basis of this one being exactly the kind of kit I love (lots of resin and PE), I've purchased another Karaya kit for the stash. So this is what you get: And this is it finished: Hope you like it! Be safe out there.
  19. It also begat the mildly weird-looking LC1 Coupe, which competed in 1983.
  20. Just read this. The UK's - and possibly the world's - greatest racing driver. Very, very sorely missed already.
  21. I'm all for optimism but it wasn't exactly an off-the-cuff remark. Nor something you'd joke about in that person's position. I see a noted modelling author on another forum also saying the same thing, so it would appear that optimism won't change the result.
