  1. Thank you for posting that but gosh that 190 looked very ungainly on those long and straked undercarriage legs. Cheers Dennis
  2. What a great article, thanks for posting. Cheers Dennis
  3. Shame about that but I know the feeling, my builds go on for so long that I lose interest, my Re2005 is sitting on the shelf all ready to be painted but the initial excitement is not there anymore. Cheers Dennis
  4. Not your subject just a bit of inspiration. Cheers Dennis
  5. Fabulous work, and the photos are really impressive. Cheers Dennis
  6. Thanks for taking the time to post all those photos of what looks like a great museum. Cheers Dennis
  7. Thanks for keeping up the debate but things are on hold due to the sudden death of my big brother. Will get back to the subject when I can. Cheers Dennis
  8. Here's a link to the the Sovereign Colourcoats USN guide https://www.sovereignhobbies.co.uk/pages/us-navy-aircraft-colour-schemes Some information from the expert in this field Dana Bell The scheme is actually four colors - white, Intermediate Blue, ANA 606 Semi-gloss Sea Blue (atop the wings and horizontal tail), and ANA 607 Non-Specular Sea Blue (atop the fuselage and on leading edges of the wings and stabs). The last two colors differ in more than the gloss factor - non-spec is distinctly grayer and lighter than the semi-gloss. I generally refer to the scheme as 4-color to clarify the differences. There was a later version where all of the paints were glossy - it wasn't seen often, but it certainly was a three-color scheme. Cheers, Dana Cheers Dennis
  9. Beautiful, a real masterpiece, build, paintwork, weathering everything. Cheers Dennis
  10. Must remove the digit as the last Seafire I built was the ancient Revell 1/32 scale one adapted from their Spitfire kit way back in the 1990's. Cheers Dennis
  11. Nice rescue, I've done that with a few kits and it is a very satisfying thing to do. Cheers Dennis
  12. Great looking build and paintwork, the rigging alone would put me off, I'm not a ship or any other expert but I would be made up if I could build one like that. Cheers Dennis
  13. Now that is a keeper, well finished and weathered, most impressive. Cheers Dennis
  14. That's really well done, I'm amazed how ignored the subject is by kit manufactures. Cheers Dennis
  15. Congratulations I was admiring your build on Sunday at Telford, well done. Cheers Dennis
  16. Adsolutely fantastic workmanship, and a well deserved award. Cheers Dennis
  17. Great build and a very clever way to pose it. Cheers Dennis
  18. Thanks guys for the suggestions it is appreciated, this build will be for my favourite aunty so cost is not an issue. Having built loads of their 1/32 scale kits I really like Hasegawa so that is one that I will seriously consider however I will not rule out the other two just yet. My last three kits have all been PCM 1/32 scale kits and I do not want to do that sort of serious wrestling with this one. Cheers and thanks Dennis
  19. Hi as the title says, my aunt whose dad was a navigator on Lancasters asked me if I had ever built a model Lancaster, I said yes but not for a long time. I only build in 1/32 scale these days but that would be too big for her, so I decided to go for 1/72 but I do not want to get into a fight with ill fitting parts and use huge amounts of filler so I would like a well engineered easy to build kit. Accuracy is also on the back burner, as long as it looks like a Lancaster it will do. Any suggestions will be gratefully received as I am off to Telford on Sunday and can have a root around there. Cheers Dennis
  20. Will do, thank you for that. Cheers Dennis
  21. I've recently been culling my reference book collection, I noticed that normally there is a table where people can donate stuff to go to a new home at the entrance to the halls does this apply to books ? Otherwise it will be the local charity shop. Cheers Dennis
  22. Bit more glacial progress, just had cortisone injections in my hands, both thumb joints are shot and the middle fingers on my left hand were suffering from trigger finger, this has caused some improvement so I can get on with this and other stuff. I was all set to mask off the undersides when I realised looking at photos that the demarcation between the bottom colour and the top was softish, so back to basics, so I broke out the paper and Blu Tac. Haven't done this for years, I have got lazy using masks but the Blu Tac method gives a better finish I believe, it's just fiddley. And all dressed up. Just the tail cross to mask off, measured the kit decal and handily the cross is 6mm wide, so out with the 6mm Tamiya tape, that was handy. Next the fun bit. Cheers Dennis
  23. Here's a thread on the same subject. Here's a brief summary from the above. Most evidence suggests the inside of the landing gear bays was painted silver/aluminium as well as British interior green. The top part and roof was interior green, and the lower half (with the ribs) was painted silver (or aluminium). The gear bay doors would have been painted silver (or aluminium) on the inside as well. Firewall may have been green or silver, can't remember off the top of my head. Inside the bomb bay and the bomb bay doors on the inside interior green, probably. Inside of cockpit is indeed also interior green Cheers Dennis
  24. Try here this is the colour guide on Stormo, interior colours could be Verde Anticorrosione FS 34272 of which there are several shades or Grigio Azzurro Chiaro 1, FS16307. https://www.stormomagazine.com/RegiaAeronauticaColorsinWWII_3a.htm Cheers Dennis
