  1. Thank you John, I think that I will experiment with the undersides of the wings, first up masks and paint I think, as you say at this stage I just want it finished. Cheers Dennis
  2. Well some progress, not much I stripped off the masking and white tac, I also accidently pulled off the under fuselage radiator as well, I glued it back on and managed to drop a spot of CA on the fuselage, hay ho. It is all fixed now, I just have to decide whether to go the mask or decal route for the wing markings, the latter is tempting as it will be quicker, but most of the decal will be clear film so the risk of silvering is high, but the risk of pulling paint off when removing masking is as well, so I will have to ponder this one a bit more. I did some fading on the upper surfaces but as mentioned early it is very faint as these were new machines that did not last long in service. There are no commercially available masks for the Re2005, but I only need the wing national markings really so I stocked up on Montex C202 and C205 masks which should do nicely as they are roughly the right size wjhen compaired with the kit decals. Well this is were we are now, the soft edge to the upper and lower colours looks just as I wanted it so that is a plus and the white band and crosses don't look crooked, so I am happy. Cheers Dennis
  3. Absolutely amazing, quantity and quality, I can only applaud your efforts, but not emulate them ! Cheers Dennis
  4. Beautiful finish and nice one at getting it to balance, it took me a few attempts and a lot of lead to stop mine from being a tail sitter. Cheers Dennis
  5. For 2024 I must finish my PCM Re2005, then onto something easier a Trumpeter P47 razorback. Cheers Dennis
  6. All you ever wanted to know about Italian modelling colours is here. https://www.stormomagazine.com/RegiaAeronauticaColorsinWWII_VitoCharts.htm Cheers Dennis
  7. Aircraft, WW2, 1/32 scale, not particularly interested in Luftwaffe though, I think that my stash has everything that I am interested in so there are few opportunities to buy new kits. Cheers Dennis
  8. From Edgar. On the door 23-1-42; before that (3-2-41) beside the seat (right side,) and it could have been plain steel, bronze green, or black, never red (until post-war.) Edgar. Posted 25 April 2010 - 09:54 PM It was retro-fitted, to all Marks, but not until those dates. Edgar The crowbar's an odd one; stowage was supplied from February, 1941, but the bar wasn't actually fitted until November. I haven't figured that one out, yet. Quite right about the colour(s,) too. An ex-pilot told me that, during the war, he'd seen them black, green, silver, but never red. H & S again, I suppose. Daz, you're half right; the XIIs with MB serials were taken from the VIII production line, while the EN series started life as VCs, and were sandwiched into the IX production lines, thus keeping the fixed tailwheel. If anyone fancies a "what-if" that did get built, at least in mock-up form, the prototype, DP845, was fitted with 6 cannon, and standard wing tips. Edgar Cheers Dennis
  9. Thank you all for the support, but life goes on and modelling is getting me back to normal. The glossy paint is all down to Xtracolor, I'm lazy, so use it so I do not need a gloss coat. Cheers Dennis
  10. Thanks Stew, it's been a sad time lately but life goes on. On the Re I'm still deciding whether to do the main markings with Masks and leave the decals for the fancy bits, or be lazy and go for all decals. Thank you Adrian, it was tough, he was in an induced coma after a bad fall but did not come out when they stopped the sedation. He will be sorely missed. The Re is coming along nicely despite my bodging, the feathered demarcation in 1/72 scale would give me nightmares, but the photo below looks like a tight demarcation so maybe not that noticeable in 1/72. Cheers Dennis
  11. My beloved big brother died a couple of weeks ago so family matters came first so no modelling. But at last the Re2005 has a coat of paint on it, not one of the more usual sexy Italian schemes but plain green, well Verde Oliva Scuro 2. For this I used Xtracolor X109 – Marine Corps Green FS34052, which is a good match for Verde Oliva Scuro 2 according to the Stormo Colour Reference chart. I will fade it slightly but not too much as these aircraft were new and did not get the chance to get too weathered. Cheers Dennis
  12. Sad news, one of my favourites
  13. Thank you for posting that but gosh that 190 looked very ungainly on those long and straked undercarriage legs. Cheers Dennis
  14. What a great article, thanks for posting. Cheers Dennis
  15. Shame about that but I know the feeling, my builds go on for so long that I lose interest, my Re2005 is sitting on the shelf all ready to be painted but the initial excitement is not there anymore. Cheers Dennis
  16. Not your subject just a bit of inspiration. Cheers Dennis
  17. Fabulous work, and the photos are really impressive. Cheers Dennis
  18. Thanks for taking the time to post all those photos of what looks like a great museum. Cheers Dennis
  19. Thanks for keeping up the debate but things are on hold due to the sudden death of my big brother. Will get back to the subject when I can. Cheers Dennis
  20. Here's a link to the the Sovereign Colourcoats USN guide https://www.sovereignhobbies.co.uk/pages/us-navy-aircraft-colour-schemes Some information from the expert in this field Dana Bell The scheme is actually four colors - white, Intermediate Blue, ANA 606 Semi-gloss Sea Blue (atop the wings and horizontal tail), and ANA 607 Non-Specular Sea Blue (atop the fuselage and on leading edges of the wings and stabs). The last two colors differ in more than the gloss factor - non-spec is distinctly grayer and lighter than the semi-gloss. I generally refer to the scheme as 4-color to clarify the differences. There was a later version where all of the paints were glossy - it wasn't seen often, but it certainly was a three-color scheme. Cheers, Dana Cheers Dennis
  21. Beautiful, a real masterpiece, build, paintwork, weathering everything. Cheers Dennis
  22. Must remove the digit as the last Seafire I built was the ancient Revell 1/32 scale one adapted from their Spitfire kit way back in the 1990's. Cheers Dennis
  23. Nice rescue, I've done that with a few kits and it is a very satisfying thing to do. Cheers Dennis
