  1. This is looking great Mish and I'm taking notes ! Figure painting is one thing that I would really like to learn, armour models do not look right without crews, I have been buying lots of figures and even bought a load of Vallejo paints, but have not started work on them yet. Must give it a go when I finish the next armour model. Cheers Den
  2. Definately a "were're not worthy" moment, great work there. Cheers Den
  3. Real progress at last, the larger gaps at the wing roots were filled with plastic strip and the whole joint filled with gap filling CA. Masking tape was used to protect nearby surface detail and all the joints sanded and polished. Thin pieces of plastic card have been inserted in the wing air intakes to tidy that area up, next time (I've got the RAF P-39 as well) I think I will leave the internal ducting out and just leave holes. Surface detail has been re scribed using my favourite Bare Metal scriber and Dymo tape. Cheers Den Sanding in progress Completed and detail restored Slipped here with the scriber, nearly forgot about it but the photo reminded me, same filled with CA and sanded smooth. Filled in air ducts
  4. After a break from modelling while we were redecorating and renovating No.2 daughters house it was back to the build, time now to join the wings and fuselage. This left a couple of gaps at the wing roots. The area at the front was a bit awkward, the covers and internal air ducts looked a great idea, however to get them all to fit was not easy and complicated the wing/fuselage joint. I had to trim the internal ducts quite a bit to get the covers to fit. The end result looked a mess. . The joint at the rear of the wing was not too bad at all. Cheers Den
  5. Have to have a look at that one next time we are in Chester, thanks. Cheers Den
  6. Just got back from a trip into Chester, while I was there I popped into "The Works" and found several Osprey Aircraft of the Aces series, Soviet Aces of WW2, IJN Aces of WW2, Bf 109D/E Aces of the Blitzkrieg, Ju87 over the Med, and Hurricanes to the fore The first aces, all for £1.99 each. I usually pop into the shop when we are in Chester and have found quite a few books at very reasonable prices. Cheers Den
  7. Thanks for that Julien, much appreciated. Cheers Den
  8. Recently received this from PCM. Pacific Coast Models Newsletter Greetings to All! We have just received photos of the resin pieces and fuselage sprue for our new PCM 32008 Focke-Wulf Ta-152H-1 high altitude fighter. They look very good. I will be meeting with Sword this Thursday at the Toy Fair in Germany. They will have a kit for me to look at and bring home. I will find out the status of when the kits will be ready to ship to us and inform you when I return on 2-10. They will also inform us of the status of our other kits under production. As we announced previously, we will be releasing our PCM 32006 Spitfire MK.IXe version combined with new decals, color marking/painting instructions and Cammetts MK.XVI resin conversion kit under item number PCM 32009 this month. We have received a small number of the conversion kits and have more on order. The decal and marking/painting instruction designs are finished. They will be printed by Cartograf and we hope to receive them this month. As soon as we know the price of the marking/painting instructions, we will put the kit up in our catalog for pre-orders. For those of you who already bought a MK.IXe and wish to convert it to a MK.XVI, we will sell the conversion set with the decals and color marking/painting instructions under a separate item number PCM 32009A. This will be up in our catalog soon for pre-orders. Cheers Den
  9. That's sure looking weathered ! Cheers Den
  10. What a strange little beast that is, you've done a great job on it, it's got that "lived in" feel to it. Cheers Den
  11. Now that is a great build no matter which way you look at it, not bad for a "distraction" build ! Cheers Den
  12. Yes, they sure are, and they work OK, just used the chisel blade to do some thinning work. Cheers Den
  13. That's a great job there, and I can only echo what everyone else has said about the silver finish. Cheers Den
  14. Save one for me as well please Colin. Cheers Den
  15. Hi Dave, The kit does build up well, I used the Eduard etched brass set on mine just to add a little detail, the P51 experts don't like the kit at all but I was very happy how it came out. I did get rid of all the surface detail and rescribe mine as well. Must investigate those decals though, Hannants have them on their site. Happy building. Cheers Den This is how mine came out, not perfect but I like it.
  16. Those decals look great, never heard of them before, I used the Techmod decals on mine. Cheers Den
  17. That's great, must get one of Jen's conversions, I still have three Matchbox Spitfires in the loft. Cheers Den
  18. Looks nearly ready to take for a run down the lanes ! Cheers Den
  19. That's coming along great, must build a Buffalo one day. Cheers Den
  20. Not a great fan of things Germanic but they look great, nice one. Cheers Den
  21. That is fantastic, love the weathering, if that is a first one after returning to the hobby I can't wait to see what you get up to when you are back up to speed ! Cheers Den
  22. That is pretty amazing without the base, the base though really makes it come alive. Cheers Den
  23. Yes that's the way I do it, I use Zap a Gap CA, run into the gaps with a cocktail stick, either let it dry or use accelerator then sand, I use nail buffers for this to leave a nice polished finish on the plastic. Do not leave the CA too long or it will be harder to sand. Cheers Den
  24. Thanks guys, so far there have been no fit issues at all, just dry fitting to make sure as normal, the Eduard detail set for this one looks great, might use it on the next one. And for sure a Soviet marked one is probably a must as they loved them, and used them to good effect. Cheers Den
