  1. According to various sources, Portugal donated at least three of their Leopard 2 to Ukraine. Portugal uses the A6NL, which was bought from the Netherlands. The A6NL has side skirts with a zig-zag lower edge (for lack of a better term I can think of...), and also the smoke grenade launchers differ from the "standard" version (for example, as on german Leopards). Here is my question: does anybody know if these Portuguese tanks retained these side skirts and launchers when sent to Ukraine, or were they modified to straight side skirts and "standard" launchers"? So far, all pictures I have seen show straight side skirts and standard launchers. (I have a HB 2A6NL in my stash and was wondering if it could be used to build a vehicle in Ukrainian service). Thank you for any reply in advance!
  2. A little bit late, but maybe it is of interest: there is a PDF available, however only in German, which is called "sohlen_der_tiger" (which might be translated to "paws of the tigers"). The link is attached below. This document gives an overview of the different tracks used by Tiger I, Tiger II and their derivatives, including drawings of the tracks. Additionally, a table with the according Friul Model tracks and some references are supplied. https://www.panzer-modell.de/specials/sohlen_der_tiger.pdf
  3. As a little follow up, if anyone is interested, there are two resin corrections for Trumpeter's KW-85 in 1/35 available. Tiger Model Designs: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/the-new-tmd-35-35-3045-kv-85-corrected-turret--1241831 Albatros Resin (description of parts😞 http://www.4bogreen.com/news/kv-85-turret-from-aresin (I'm not connected to these manufacturers)
  4. It would be great if you could share your observations regarding both kits. Meanwhile, I've edited the original post with another info I came across regarding the stiffeners of the engine intake screens.
  5. I'm looking for reviews or infos regarding Trumpeters IS-1 and IS-2 kits in 1/35 (kit numbers 05587 and 05588). So far, I came across the following issues (link to the sources of this listing at the end of this post, as these are not my observations) : - Wrong road wheels (post-war version with 10 instead of 5 bolt hubs) - Wrong tracks (too wide) - Engine deck intake screens seem to be too long - Rear armour panel (should overlap with the engine deck, however seems to be flush with it; I wasn't able to find clear photos showing the problem.) - Engine intake screens of IS-1 and early IS-2 should only have the transversal stiffeners (source in the second link) I appreciate any further information you can provide regarding other inaccuracies or problems with these kits. 6. Lee, with some delay, I'd like to thank you for your answer. After looking at some reviews, here is a short summary of problems with the Border model F kit (these problems were identified in other reviews and by Lee): 1. engine louvres (they both are rectangular, where one should have a chamfer, compare Tamiya's old D and new F kit) 2. the back part of the turret roof is too thick (portraying later, armored versions). If I understood posts on FB correctly, these problem should be rectified in later productionruns. 3. the barrel cleaning rod should consist of 2 bars, but comes with 4 for longer barreled guns. It seems that the 2-bar rod is in the kit, but without the required "head part".
  7. I was looking at the sprue shots and instructions at SuperHobby, but it seems I missed the obvious, as I was only looking at pictures and drawings from the front and the sides. Considering the line drawing posted, it seems that the Bronco kit (in top view) is more accurate. Only the (ventilation?) cover at the front seems to be too far aft. Thank you to both of you for your contributions, which helped a lot!
  8. Hello, after reading a review of the 1/35 KW-85 by Trumpeter (kit 01569), I've got a question. The review (link at the end) mentions that Trumpeter provides the wrong turret (asymmetric IS-2 style), whereas the KW-85 should have a symmetric turret (IS-1 style). Also, the review doesn't provide any pictures or drawings. After looking at several pictures online, I have to admit I don't see what is meant with asymmetric/symmetric with regards to the turret, and what is wrong with the kit. So, if you have any info regarding this, I'd be very grateful for posting it here. Thank you and have a nice weekend, Andy Link to review (I hope it is ok to post it here): http://www.4bogreen.com/kv-series/plastic-and-resin-kits/1-35-scale/trumpeter/01569-soviet-kv-85-heavy-tank
  9. Hello, can you explain what's wrong with the engine deck of Border's F1? Do you refer to the louvres? Jentz/Doyle show them in a top view of a short-barreled F in their Panzer Tracts series. Might these louvres come from a Tropen mod, which they also mention (without further details)? Any answer would be highly appreciated! Thanks, Andy
