I believe it is merely an etch preparation prior to applying a primer. It allows better adherance of the paint.

Hi guys Just got hold of a Monogram GR1/AV-8A in 1/48. Obviously the kit doesn't contain either drop tanks or SNEB pods. I don't have an Airfix GR3 donor kit to rob from. Have trawled t'internet, but can only find 190 gallon drop tank in resin As i want to build an early spec GR1, does anyone have supplier that can supply the 100 gallon tanks or know of another aircraft with aftermark tanks that can be kit bashed? Hi guys. I'm an ex RAF techie of 25 years standing. Two tours on Harriers, started on Mod 9s, into GR1s and then GR3s as an INAS avionics tech at Wittering (3yrs) and Gutersloh (4yrs). I did do some GR5 introduction into service work as part of the Central Servicing Development Establishment's Flight Systems Specialist Flight. Short tour on Canberras (100 Sqn) followed by a tour on Victor K2s (57 Sqn) including Falklands War (Multiple Black Buck see off crews).
