tail flags' main mask has been applied and a coat of white laid down, and some yellow starts the step by step roundels painting process. my new kit for the desert GB has arrived. It's actually counter-intuitively bigger than this kit for the Go Large GB!

She's arrived and its one mother of a huge box. obligatory box art here... the book i had thrown in with the new goodies and a veritable feast of sprueage. I'll spare you the full album of sprue shots. it's VERY big. Here she is sat with my current 1/32 spit which is not a tiny thing. (cm marks on the green mat) detail is lovely. (hope i don't need to reinstate and of those raised rivets anywhere. 😬 now i think i have everything to get started. only thing i think i'm lacking is new decals. anyone subscribe to nigel's modelling bench on youtube? well he really loves the kit but hammers the decals, they are literally awful according to him. isradecal make a set (same makers as my book) so i might order them, unless takom have sorted their decals out between nigel's and my kit manufacture. (he has an early non-saraf kit)

lovely enzo and welcome. a desert is not a desert without a mirage. The Mirage F1 you mention is one my all time favourite aircraft. With the demise of kitty hawk I hope we get a new tool 1/48 of this beauty at some point. kinetic if you're listening...

Thx mate. those 4 colour roundels will be tricky to line up for sure. note to self: i just realised i should have masked and painted the tail 'flags' too while i was doing the roundels.

Thanks guys. The camo is soft at scale compared to reality. I think i'd do it a lot harder if i do one of these again. I've progressed to roundels and tail codes. after painting roundels i think invasion stripes (almost hand painted roughly around the roundels) and the big identification letters respectively. hairspray is great sometimes rich. a bit hit and miss sometimes too. ps. really annoying with the masks but they have the wrong numbered codes. so i had to do a frankenstein job, taking an '8' from another and bodging a letter 'J' to make the right code for the airframe.

i've seen people even put liquid gravity with CA forward of the main gear legs, behind the radials, in the nacelles if it's still a tailsitter after everything, as a last resort. you don't hang about steve. three sizeable constructions on you kits in the first day. well done.

Looking good craig. Will you use 'anti-slip' paint on the walkways? i got a bottle of it i intend to use on something at some point but havent tried it yet.
