Thanks craig. ok we're on the final leg chaps. all stencil decals applied, - those eduard decals where you can peel off the carrier film (sometimes) are interesting. pre gloss coat here... note the 'shoot down tally' fore of the port cockpit door i stole from an old decal sheet as there wasn't one on the LO D sheet to match the photograph i'm recreating. sometimes they get a bit ruined pulling off the film but it's ok - it looks like worn paint if that happens. apologies for the blurred shot. opted to decal the walk lines and not paint them in the end. we have them all sorted, gear legs attached, fuse gloss coated, exhausts primed, so onwards....

thank you guys so much, glad you like the invasion stripes. 🙏 paint masking fans will be thrilled to see its been continuing with the large fuselage side letter idents. some idiot painted them interior green so had to repaint them in the same custom eggshell hue from the rear hoop around the rear 🙄 i've started applying the eduard stencil decals, and i think i 'll do one last set of masking and painting to make the walkway lines and not the decals there and then we can finally start weathing. yay 🙌

considering the 14 years and up thing, this looks to be one very simple construction: is the fuselage all in one piece? that's some quality box filling solution right there too with that deep plastic tray.

A desert tonka with jp233's is a wonderful thing. researching a 32 scale gulf war tonka build i read a lot and listened to a lot of podcasts with recitals of the sorties. full respect to some brave men doing those low altitude attacks. good luck with the build sam, i am looking forward to this.

Craig should we ask him lots of complex technical questions about the build that require tons of research from steve in a vain attempt to slow him down? I think this is what luke did to get first in the gallery

thanks for the input chaps. i have been progressing. invasion stripes is tough stuff. they need tolook rubbish enough to be hand painted but then they do look rubbish on the kit to any viewer. i've had a process below where i airbrushed a base after a gloss protective coat and a coat of hairspray. then i hand painted (imagining i was a little guy with alittle scale brush). then i've airbrushed over the top in a mist coat to bring the effect down a bit but its still there and still looks kinda rubbish. they chiped and sanded it away where i felt relevant. again if you dont know the original picture my kit looks rubbish. i still have finessing to do this is a process i think step by step. and off course stencils and big letters on the fuse sides to mask and paint. ahhhh more masking 🤪 then all the panel lines, weathering etc some ref... freehand airbrushed base stripes but outers masked hand painting starts... white first on the left here... white all hand painted, black starts... mist coat on here... chipping and sanding trying to get near my ref shot with the sanding. notice the intentional rubbish mask around the roundel.

It looks great! interesting with the retarder. i have a bottle that i must try this out with. is the bit of water necessary if you have x-20a and retarder?

What's the collective term for a group of P-40's? Well we have a veritable squadron of p-40's now which is no bad thing. Great with another entry Steve. I hope you enjoy the HB kit. I've only seen it's bigger brother 1/32 Trumpeter build up and that looked good.

can you post a picture of a fuse half next to something for scale - it must be a monster
