  1. I do believe that the BoB GB last year had over 90 COMPLETED builds so we've a way to go yet :)

I think the Less than a Tenner GB hold the record followed by Lesser built AF? I may be wrong I don't actually record the results

  2. Once again, thanks folks

Good on you Mish, you have managed to keep a bunch of............. happy modellers on the straight and narrow (which must be exhausting).

Thanks for all the hard work and time you have dedicated to this forum. Hope you manage to get more built now.

Will you still be doing the BM table at model shows?

Well we're booked in for five shows, does that answer your question? :)

See Mish, they did like you afterall!

I never doubted it Mike, you stirrer :D

  3. Thanks guys, it has been fun and I mean that.

How about one final GB in your honour? Your choice of subject?

I don't think so I think the annual KUTA GB will be my swan song, All though I didn't think of the idea that belonging to my predecessor I thought it was a great GB to end each year with. I do hope it makes it onto the 2017 and onwards calender.

  4. As announced my Mike today in the Announcements section HERE

I'm stepping down from moderating the Group Builds. Here, paraphrased is Mike's announcement

One of the only constants in this life is change, and It is with a touch of sadness that we're today announcing Mish's retiral from managing the Group Build calendar and forum with effect from the completion of the 2016 calendar. She has held the title for many a year (since 12th July 2009 in fact), and done sterling work in managing to herd cats whilst knitting fog, but new work commitments amongst other things have forced her to step down and let someone else shoulder the burden of keeping the peace whilst not spreading too few people around too many Group Builds.

That person is Alan, and most of you will know him as Enzo Matrix. He's bravely agreed to take over from Mish, and we've been training him up behind the scenes for a couple of weeks now with Mish's help and guidance. She's going to mentor him until he's properly ensconced in the task, so things should carry on pretty much as usual, although please do give him plenty of slack as he's new at the job! :)

I'm sure you'll all join me in thanking Mish for her tireless dedication to the GB area over the last six and a half years, and wish her well with her studies. Also, thanks to Alan/Enzo for agreeing to take over  While we're at it, I believe he'd like to be known as Darth Matrix now he's in Mish's training camp of evil, so if you could all humour him, that would be cool :mental:

I'll be around till Enzo has picked up all the skills of herding cats and I might even find time to build for a few GBs

I would like to publicly thank all you GB'ers for your support, kindness and help over the past six, nearly seven years. I have made lots of friends, seen some great builds and enjoyed just about every minute of the job :)

I have one request of Enzo, it's been a sort of tradition that I host the KUTA GB every year. I would love to continue to do so.

Happy modelling all and thank you.

  5. nice work Mish

the kit wing panels and wheels and the resin cooler for me

just a though the one you are building did it have the G6 bulges over the wings or the longer "K" bulges

Small/thin spoked wheels with plain tyres so yes the smaller bulged upper inner wing panels. You need to check every aircraft, even the kit options are wrong for the supplied larger bulges :(

  6. Mish

You are doing such a great job. I'm sure glad you are building this kit . I been wanting this model , so I order it .For the price can not be beat ..

I only done two planes in my model life . Only Helicopters, jeeps and Humvee .

The more I see the plane builds more I like them ..

    Rick

Go for it Rick, it's a lovely kit, not as nice as the Spitfire but still a good kit.

Is the resin replacement oil cooler specifically for an ERLA built Bf109G10? As you're probably aware it was a different shape on the ERLA built G10's from the standard.

    Duncan B

Yes the oil cooler is a replacement part for the Revell kit as the kit part is slightly the wrong size and shape.

So today's progress, quite a lot done today the cockpit was cemented into one of the fuselage halves and the mating halve cemented together. I then added the Barracuda resin carburettor intake and corrected oil cooler. Both fitted very well.

Next up was to add the upper inner wing parts. As the plane I'm building has the narrower/smaller wheels it doesn't need the large upper wing wheel bulges supplied with the kit.For this I purchased the Ally Cat replacement, but as can be seen from a previous post it would be very hard if not impossible to make them fit. So my only other option was to 'steal' the inner wing parts from my G-6 kit. :(

Lower wings were fitted next, closely followed by the upper outer wing parts.

Some clamping and filling with Mr Dissolved Putty was required on the wing joins, but the fit is not too bad.

  7. What do you folks think?

These are some after-market parts for my 1:32 Revell Bf109G-10

The small wheel bulge insert compared against the part for the G-6 boxing (kit part to the front) As you can see the resin part is way out and if sanded to shape there will be no leading edge just a hole!

The wheels (kit part to the right) I actually prefer the kit part.

The oil cooler is a bit improvement over the kit part (kit part to front)
